About the author

Hiro Mashima (Jap: 真島ヒロ) is a Japanese manga artist.

He gained success with his first serial Rave, published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 1999 to 2005. His best-selling work, Fairy Tail, published in the same magazine from 2006 to 2017, became one of the best-selling manga series with over 72 million copies in print. Mashima began the currently ongoing Edens Zero in 2018.

Fairy Tail won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen manga in 2009, and Mashima was given the Harvey Awards International Spotlight award in 2017 and the Fauve Special Award at the 2018 Angoulême International Comics Festival.

4.5/5 Stars. This one is my favourite so far. Wendy has to figure out how to deal with the situation alone this time. And the story deals with grief and magic in an interesting way. There are some clichés but because of the tone of the story they add to the story instead of distracting from it.

While I love Wendy and Carla in the overall story, I was not a fan of how the author wrote Wendy dressing up as Wendell to stay safe amongst the disappearing girls. Her friends commentary about Wendy “cross dressing” wasn’t funny; it was close-minded.

J’aime beaucoup découvrir les aventures de Wendy et Carla, c’est mon petit manga plaisir. C’est bien dommage qu’il n’y a que 4 tomes. Personnellement quand j’aime une histoire on peut me donner autant de tomes je prends! J’ai toujours un peu de mal à quitter les univers ainsi que les personnages que j’apprécie tant. Je ressens toujours un petit pincement au coeur alors j’essaye toujours de repousser le moment fatidique. Mais au bout d’un moment, il faut bien s’y mettre n’est ce pas?

J’ai beaucoup aimé ce troisième tome. L’histoire de cette aventure était particulièrement touchante. On va retrouver Wendy qui va apprendre que dans la ville d’Aïa une rumeur tourne, un dragon semblerait enlever toutes les jeunes filles. Elle décide donc de s’y rendre avec Carla tout en étant déguisé en garçon pour éviter de se faire enlever. Lors de leur passage dans cette ville, le comportement de Carla devient très étrange et disparait.. Wendy va donc tout faire pour retrouver Carla et résoudre la disparition des jeunes filles en même temps..

C’était vraiment drôle de voir Wendy déguisé en jeune garçon et s’enrôler dans la garde. Elle va tout faire pour retrouver Carla et n’hésite pas à donner de sa personne pour y parvenir. Elle va s’allier avec le jeune Mink, il va lui petre d’ailleurs d’une grande aide dans sa mission. Ensemble ils vont résoudre le mystère des disparitions. D’ailleurs, c’est surprenant lorsque l’on découvre la véritable histoire. C’était très touchant de découvrir l’histoire de Dame Viola et de sa soeur. C’est vraiment très triste et très touchant.

Il ne me reste plus que le dernier tome à lire. J’ai hâte de découvrir quelle aventure attend Wendy et Carla mais en même temps je n’ai pas envie de finir cette série. Je suis vraiment fan de ce manga, suivre la jeune Wendy et Carla c’est un vrai plaisir. C’est une vraie bouffée d’air frais à lire. Chaque tome est un vrai plaisir à découvrir!

I’m happy to continue being in this world but I realize more and more that Wendy just isn’t my favorite character. I wish there was more Carla in this volume because I connect with her character so much more. One thing that bothered me was that the explanation for how the magic was occurring seemed very lazy. Obviously ever person’s magic is unique to themselves but what I’ve loved about Fairy Tail is that there is always some sort of explanation for it but here we don’t get anything. Hoping to get the last volume of this series completed soon so I can move on to the other side series.

Really love the awesome fairy tail manga, and this is a fairy tail spin off of Wendy’s own adventure which was pretty good! Really love when my favorite mangas have spin off’s😻😁❤️❤️

Such a fun read with some suspenseful moments! I love the artwork and the references back to the original Fairy Tail series.

Another fun story. It leans a bit toward the shoujo (girly) side, with a bit of romance. As most of my students that have been reading this series are male, it will be interesting to see what they think.

*While I've no problem handing my fantasy-reading males books by women about women, such as my favorites by Tamora Pierce (Author) and Sarah J. Maas, the manga-reading crowd is a different set.

I have a soft spot for Wendy and Carla, so enjoyed their antics but ultimately this volume was too cutesy-wutsey for me. They arrive in a town where girls have gone missing and it is rumoured a dragon is at the root of all the trouble. So Wendy goes to help but the Fairy Tail Guild has dressed her up as a boy to protect her. Then your usual Shakespearean hijinx ensue.
