Are you tired of constantly giving while everyone around you is constantly taking?
You have been told all your life that you're supposed to be generous and that giving is better than receiving. You bought into that idea, so you're a giver. However, it doesn't make you feel any better... as a matter of fact, it makes you feel worse.
Why is that? It's because you have been going about it all wrong. You have been taught to give but not how to give.
In The Joy of Me, Dr. Shaelyn Pham sheds light on the false beliefs that lead to suffering within yourself, feelings of brokenness, and resentment in your relationships. Using psychology and spirituality, with insightful stories, this book will show you:
* How to let go of guilt and shame * The expectations and obligations you have put on yourself * The false identity you have taken on * The true measure of your worth * The unconditional love you can give and receive * How to have a resentment-free life
This book will reveal how you can be happier with yourself and be more satisfied in your relationships. You can be more selfish and have people love you for it!
Great book, although the final chapter goes really into christian beliefs, most of it has amazing advice and simple examples and metaphors to help understand the topic.
This book is Amazing! I really enjoyed it. It was a light read but a thorough look at oneself and how to bring about the joy and happiness you've always wanted by loving yourself unconditionally. The book take a slightly unique and fresh approach at bringing together what is normally considered a prohibited social custom of "being selfish" and shows that this act is from the author's perspective the best method to obtain true happiness not just for yourself, but for everyone that you encounter. The book share's an integrated look at how enjoying ourselves and being fulfilled in our lives can help us to help others fulfill their needs and bring them joy. The book demonstrates by clearly embracing the joyfulness in oneself we will be able to get out of our own way when trying to bring others that same delightful success by giving them our full and undivided attention to appreciate and tend to others. The book reminds us that when you focus on the light, the light will out shine the darkness and when you focus on the good in yourself and the positive actions that bring you happiness and joy, this joy will out shine your flaws and bring about change in your life and the lives of your surrounding friends. I highly recommend this book!
This book is Amazing! If you want to feel good about yourself, be successful in life and feel happy everyday you wake up or go to sleep, read this book. Always remember that you conscious is the awareness of your surroundings. It's the awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and a sense of what you're doing. You fully know what you're doing and why you're doing it. Happiness could mean that you're living in the land of opportunity. It is where you have the ability to pursue your dreams without persecution. It is knowing that if you work hard, you can achieve whatever you put your mind to.
Fantastic read! Great tips on how to becoming a better you for the people around you. Chapter 12, threw me for a loop!! There was no indication (well to me at least) that this book would have any hint of religious material. This last chapter was basically quoting verses from the bible. I still gave it 5 stars because it helped me.
