Burning Yves is the second of Joss Stirling's free short stories in the Savants series and it gives us a second chance to see the first meeting between Yves and Phoenix but this time from his point of view. Again I'd recommend reading the short story after the main book (Stealing Phoenix) so you're familiar with the characters.

The story starts a little before the beginning of the first book and it's nice to get a chance to see inside geeky Benedict brother Yves' head. He's not as confident as the rest of his brothers and feels a little like the odd one out but he's also extremely intelligent and loves to learn. His first meeting with Phoenix doesn't exactly go to plan since she attempts to rob him but he's surprisingly protective of the would be thief.

I don't think I enjoyed this one quite as much as Challenging Zed but it was still a fun, quick read and I'm sure fans of the series will enjoy eat up any chance to spend more time with the Benedicts!

Burnimg yves is a spinoff types of book by joss stirling where we see his point of view of the begginning of the book and when he finds out that pheonix is his soulfinder.
I loved this book as we saw him trying to work out who girl was and then when he found out who, how his feelings change straight away. We saw him want to care for her after the harm he caused her. I absouletley loved it.
wish we had full books of the boys views

Review:

¡Oh, sorpresa, sorpresa! Estas pequeñas historias, ¿adivinen qué? ¡No aportan nada!

Yves is one of the gentlest and kindest of the Benedicts, except when he lost his control over his powers. This book didn't have much scene of him with Phoenix, save for their first and second encounter, but it's more to how Yves views himself and how he wished to find his soulfinder.

I could relate to him when it comes to not having much belief in himself, but it's heartwarming to see how fierce he was when he told Phoenix that he'd do everything he can just to let her stay with him. In a normal world, calling someone you met only twice as "mine" might sound a bit predatory, but in this series where soulfinders exist, I feel it rather cute that Yves didn't hesitate to call her as "his" Phoenix.

I also love how this story shows more of how close the relationship between the Benedict brothers, and how Sky fits so well with them. My heart is just so full of love for them ❤

Super powers come with added responsibility

A great start to the story. Being one of seven brother, means that he had to toughen up which is good news as he is definitely a geek. It doesn't help that in a family with super powers, his are fire (especially when stressed or in danger). All of his brother are looking for their female counterpart. Maybe he will be lucky on the trip to London with his two other brothers. When a teenage girl keeps trying to steal his stuff and gets hurt in the process, he virtually kidnaps her. What will this lead too? Is she his counterpart?

As i said before with the Challenging Zed book, i wish it went more in detail with phoenix as i want to now how he felt about all the situation. the book should continue as a copy of stealing phoenix just from a different point of view.

I love Yves. He is so adorable and I loved reading this side of him. It is one perspective when reading from Phee's side but to actually be given a short story from Yves's perspective really helps with his characterisation.

Pd: Ame a Yves

Nice little addition to the original story.

I didn't came to the conclusion like Yves. Seems I am not that smart. ^^'
The boy with fire-powers and a firebird.
Oh my gosh. So good.

And I loved especially the last sentance with the title drop of the original story.

This was a really interesting short extract of the behind the scenes, and mindset of Yves. It’s nice to see another side of him, from his own perspective- his relationship with his family, his place in the family and his initial thoughts on Pheonix. This was sweet to read.
