Swat Team sniper John Stephens has been longing for waitress Miranda White for months. She feels the same way about him. What’s standing in their way? His reputation as a womanizer. As sexy as he is – and as horny as she is- that’s not enough to ignore the fact that she doesn’t want to become just another conquest.
From the first sentence, I was all in. The writing is very good, and the dialogue is very entertaining. Wilder has very vivid descriptions, and I was totally drawn into the story. The background was explained nicely, without one single hint of boredom (not one time did I yawn or skip paragraphs). I related to the characters, and couldn’t wait to see how their relationship would play out. Fortunately – and unfortunately – I didn’t have to wait long. The story is very short, and during the period of reading when I’m usually geared up to read about the first kiss, the relationship had progressed extensively and the book was over. I didn’t pay attention to the fact that it is a novella, so the shock is totally on me. This has the makings of a wonderful full-length. I so wish it had been.
Despite it’s brevity, and the fact that there were no guns drawn, shots ringing out, or kidnap situation (as the tricky little title and cover had me thinking), it was a really good story. I recommend it to novella lovers!
