There is a special feeling that comes with finishing a book like Slice. It is a special kind of loneliness after having spent so much time with characters and storylines that have made me feel happy, sad, sexy, scared, and hopeful all at once. In this novel from author L. R. Johnson, the reader encounters the story of Cypress Tucker, a charmingly relatable character whose fierce independence carried her hundreds and hundreds of miles away from an abusive relationship in her hometown of Nashville, all the way to Colorado Springs. But, in a gripping turn of events, her first class introduces her to the sexy, powerful Lucas Elledge, a young and successful author and a mysterious figure whose violent and secretive past constantly threatens the new love budding between him and Cypress (or “Cy” as he calls her with his British accent…be still my heart!) When Asher Langford, a student hell-bent on catching Lucas and proving him to be a psychopath comes into the narrative mix, all bets are off. This story has love, loss, sex, murder, friendship, family—the whole human experience. I loved it, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Slice is your typical boy meets girl story. Well, except for the fact that the boy is a psychopathic killer with a body count in the 40's. The story follows Lukas Elledge. Elledge is a college student, a famous author, and has a foreign accent that would make any girl swoon. The only problem is he's a psychopath who's incapable of having any kind of real human emotions. He's bored out of his mind and doesn't know how to form meaningful relationships. The only thing that does make him feel anything is killing. But what happens when he meets Cyprus, the lovable new transfer student? Cyprus is charming and sweet, and to Lukas, she is the light that just might drag him out of the darkness. Slice begs the question, what does it look like when a psychopath falls in love? Will that love be enough to quell his overwhelming need to kill?
The thing I loved about this book is that it was about more than just the violence and the killing; it was just as much about the love and passion. It's beautifully written and perfectly paced. Plainly speaking, Slice is a true delight to read. It's a thrilling storyline, filled with twists and a building tension that keeps you on the edge. The ending is one of seismic proportions, where all of the built up tension and frustration comes pouring out. This novel is a must read for anyone looking to be swept up in a good book!

This novel was amazing, eventful, and emotional! I am still in my feelings about it and I finished reading it early this morning. I feel a sense of emptiness now that it is over. L.R. Johnson loves her characters and she makes the reader love them with her. Slice is indeed a must read!!!

Amazingly beautiful read

Slice by L.R. Johnson, is an fast pace , action packed romance. That left me hanging on to the edge of my seat. What starts out as a typical girl meets boy romance develops into something so much more. I loved every
second of this and everything is beautifully written. Slice is about main character Cypress who moves looking for a new start and ends up meeting handsome Lucas Elledge. I definitely recommend this book to all i cannot wait to read more!
