William, a simple farmer, misses his wife Sarah, who has died. He's walking with his dog and the dog keels over and dies. He holds him. Then he opens his eyes in a hospital. The doctors and nurses tell him he's dead. He looks over and sees his wife. Of course, he asks if he's in heaven. She explains he's in the Welsh version of heaven. He then sees his dog.
What follows is unusual and sweet at the same time. He learns from Sarah and his guide that his body is gone but what is left is his soul and

A Night in Annwn, is a beautiful feel good story, full of hope. The realistic and sympathetic descriptions of William, his daughter, and his wife Sarah pulled me into the story and had me caring from the start. I also enjoyed the insightful description of Welsh traditions and life. Welsh heaven is wonderful and left me hoping it was true.

This is a thought provoking story with a big heart. A book which shouldn’t be overlooked.

An intriguing look into a Spiritualist vision of the afterlife, seen through the eyes of Willy, following a near death experience. How would any of us react to such an experience either lived directly or reported by someone we know and trust? No matter your beliefs, or lack of them, this story is engrossing and thought provoking. All the characters are truly believable. Their emotions are familiar to all of us: each and everyone. Their relationships, reactions, their doubts and fears take us int ...more

This book must be one of the most engaging ones I've read lately and I must say that, although it was an emotional rollercoaster, it has been a pleasure reading this book. It has touched me on more levels than I can explain. I don't think I've ever been this emotionally invested in a story before. Maybe because I took it on just after my father had ... passed over .., or maybe because of the many details that almost seemed signs (Il Silenzio was one of his favourites) ... I don't know. What I do ...more

We have all heard of near-death experiences and whether you believe in them or not this book will give you pause and make you think. Granted this is a novel but too many I have known have gone through this. This one is an uplifting experience which helps to change the persons life around for the better. It also delves into different religious beliefs and how all are really the same. Do you believe in dead spirits talking to the living? Have you ever had the feeling that someone is watching over ...more

Thought provoking!💜

This was a very interesting and thought provoking story.
An interesting look at a near death experience and how the love of a family impacted subsequent events. A new look on a life that had all but given up on.
The narration was good but at times I had difficulty distinguishing between the characters.

Owen Jones’ ‘A Night in Annwn’ is a lyrical mixture of a cozy tale with the intriguing and challenging subject of life after death. Jones’ tackles the story with delicacy and creates a sense of hope within the reader whatever their own beliefs about the subject may be. Unlike other books, usually non-fiction, which treat the concept of life after death in an almost clinical fashion, often citing case histories etc, the use of fiction to relate the simple life led by the protagonist, and how that ...more
