Monica wakes, it's cold, damp. She feels confined... trapped... alone, and doesn't know where she is or how she got there. Then panic sets in... clawing, feeling the dirt falling onto her face, Monica realizes she's been buried alive. Escape may not be easy, it may not even be possible. She tries to remember what happened, how she became trapped inside this box, who it was that did this to her, and then the truth becomes crystal clear. Soon they will learn, when you kill someone, you better make sure they're actually dead...
This book was awesome! It was creepy and captivated me right from the start. I had to see what happened, and why Jeff and Martin did what they did to Monica. I rooted for her throughout the whole book, hoping that she would get her revenge. This is a "must read" for any thriller/horror fan. It definitely had me on the edge of my seat... especially at the end! 5/5 stars!
Wow - this was disturbing - a great revenge story with a fast pace. A quick and entertaining read that will keep you turning the pages with interest until the very end.
Excellent piece of work! I love a quick read that pulls me in from the get go and keeps me guessing and wanting more through the entire book. And the author did not disappoint!
The story begins with Monica waking up to complete darkness and forgetting what had happened and why she was there. What a thrill of a ride and I'm excited to read more from this author. If you love a suspenseful, exciting short story, this is the book for you!
Jeremy Simons packed so much story into 63 pages its amazing. I do not feel cheated like I usually do with novellas or short stories, I feel like I got every pennies worth in this action packed - non stop thrill ride. I absolutely LOVED reading about Monica's transformation from scared of her own shadow victim to take charge, kick ass avenger! Buried Alive will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. You will not want to put this book down.
100% SPOILER FREE REVIEW I liked this book. 4.5 stars for sure. I'll start with everything I loved. Jeremy Simons has an ability to just write, he doesn't follow any rules and to me, that makes for a better read. There is a method to his madness and that is believability. He is able to hit the nail on the head in that department every time. Monica wants revenge. She wakes in her own grave; buried alive - but, without a clear memory of what happened she is uncertain of who exactly was involved in what should have been her untimely demise. Using the power of deduction she comes to the conclusion of who did this to her. But is she right? That is the biggest question as she plots her revenge. What if she is planning something special for the wrong person or people? Will her uncertainty make her change her mind and go to the police or will she go through with her plan for revenge? The only thing that makes this a 4.5 star read - instead of 5 full stars, for me personally, is the somewhat predictable parts of the story; although they are written in a way that makes you question if you're going to be right! And sometimes you won't be. And the ending. It felt abrupt. I'm greedy and needed to know more.
Buried Alive by Jeremy Simons hit on a hot topic—domestic violence.
The best part of the book was the action scenes. I could see them, feel them, and hear them. Awesome.
I had a problem with character development. I wanted to delve into the characters’ minds and personalities. I didn’t get a clear picture of why Martin was so disgruntled with Monica. Yeah, okay, we were told she was “ugly” multiple times. I want to know what pushed him to do such a horrendous act of violence.
Monica is a mystery to me. The woman dug herself out of a grave and walked into Dollar General to use the restroom. She was dirty and bloody, with a head injury, and no one blinked an eye. She then plotted her revenge instead of going to the police. Crazy.
Jeff is a quandary. The man swings a bat at a woman’s head because his best friend tells him to. I get brotherly love, but that takes it to a whole new level. Three stars.
This book was extremely insane! All the things that happened was just wow! Monica was definitely very good a plotting her revenge. And the way she did it was great. The last one she had a little complication but she managed. I wouldn't mind reading more! This was right up my alley. It definitely reminded me of something Stephen King would write! Great book!
This story was absolutely amazing! I knew this was a horror story, but I didn't imagine anything close to this! I am kicking myself for waiting so long to read it!
Such a wonderfully disturbing story, a story of a strong woman seeking revenge. Very well written, I could see myself as her. I could not put the book down! This was definitely something refreshingly different in the horror genre. A must read!
This is my first read by Jeremy Simons. I enjoyed the book alot. This is a story of courage and strength. I finished it all in one day. I will definitely be reading more from him.
Couldn't imagine what it would be like to be buried alive. Although there were a few errors in this book it did not distract from enjoying the story. Looking forward to reading more from this author
I listened to this twisted story of revenge on my kindle, while at work. I might have made a couple of errors, but oh, was it worth it! Nice plot, enjoyable read, kept me interested, will read more written by this author.
I loved this story! The ending was a bit unexpected but I liked it too. Basically just 3 characters which I like because I don't like stories with too many people because I can't keep them straight. This is rather hard to review because I don't want to give away the story. In a nutshell, something happened and then crazy, interesting things happened because of it. Revenge! I recommend the story.
Monica wakes up to realize she is buried, in what seems to be a cardboard box, with no instant memory of how she got there. From the moment Monica climbs her way to fresh air and freedom, Simons brings us on an exciting and suspenseful journey of revenge. The characters are well established in a well thought out and exciting plot.
The story quality was fair, but the editing is so bad I can't believe this is a published book. Mistakes over and over. Editing like this makes me glad I'm self-published, lol.
