Rate this book
Designed to provide a single source of cases, exercises, incidents, and skill builders, this book offers a fresh approach based on dynamic organizational events confronting both human resource managers and line managers who often implement personnel programs and policies. Topics range from traditional applications of personnel theory to the more controversial issues of AIDS, alcohol and drug abuse on the job, new federal legislation on discrimination issues, employment-at-will, work and family, and the human resource aspects of merger activities. The settings cover a wide variety of organizations with an emphasis on the growing service sector.

This is simply a workbook for exercising knowledge of HR concepts and practices. I found it useful for uncovering weakness in my HR knowledge, and I was forced to learn some of the "hard" HR I don't have experience with--metrics, labor relations, and global HR.
