An exceptional read! None of the numerous movies made after it have managed to do it justice and capture its essence. A story about loyalty, honor, love, friendship, deceit and betrayal. Drama, romance, action, an amazing plot with a more than just and symbolic ending!

In copilarie eram innebunit dupa astfel de romane.

A nejvíce jsem si oblíbila Cocardesse a Passepoila

Troch

This is an adventure novel from the golden age of swashbuckler literature (more commonly known in the french form of "roman de cape et d’épée"). It has the main elements of the genre, but also it is clear that Paul Feval was a gifted writer. He uses some literary techniques that are quite uncommon for other authors of the genre. Among them I mention flashback and inner voice of more than one characters.

Going to characters, I must admit that at least the main ones are quite well built. They are n

L'héros a des talents ...more

Very dramatic and beautiful story about ordinary thing like love, honour and revange. But what I diddn't expected - that it would be so perfect written, that you don't realize, how unrealistic the story is. I certainly recommend it.

One of my favorite books of all time!
She's monster!
I must say I've almost given up. The first half was full of descriptions and monotone plot. On the other hand, second half was better. But I don't think I would like to read this again.
