There’s one must-have toy this Christmas, and Neala Clarke has told her niece Charli she’ll get it for her. Never mind that she’s got less than a week and it looks like everywhere is sold out. She’s promised Charli a Fire Princess doll—and Neala is a woman of her word.

Darcy Hart is a people-pleaser. So when his adorable six-year-old nephew, Dustin, asks for a particular doll at the last minute, he says yes. Luckily for Darcy, there’s one left in stock at the local toy store. Unluckily for Darcy, he’s not the only person who wants it—and his rival is the one woman who’s immune to his charms.

Neala and Darcy have loved to hate each other since they were kids, and they’re both willing to do whatever it takes to get that doll. This can’t possibly end well for both of them…can it?

***4,5 "Neala Alert" stars***

Who could've thought that a doll would bring so much troubles???
That a doll will start a world wide war???

Bahahaha.... This story was hilarious!!!! Especially the first 70% and then it became a little bit more emotional, but it was worth it!!!
I had such an amazing time while i was reading it....
I couldn't stop laughing!!! My belly was in serious trouble!!!!

Well, Neala and Darcy had known each other for all of their lives... Seriously, guys, their families are connected with a very unique way... Everyone has a best friend in the other family and Darcy was Neala's best friend until the age of ten, when an incident took place and their friendship was ruined forever....

"They say ‘hate’ is a strong word and an even stronger emotion. I agree with that, because the passion with which I hated Darcy filled me completely. It wasn’t one-sided – that man hated me just as much as I hated him, and that’s how it was between us. It’s how it had pretty much always been between us. We hated each other, and that was it."

From that moment and fifteen years later, when Neala and Darcy are in the same room, the air around them is full of aggressive and spiteful comments, full of irritation and even body harm....

Yep, the things were really serious and very often they got out of control, but at the same time were hilarious and even that it wasn't right, you couldn't stop laughing...
And that damn parrot???? Bahahahahaha...

"There hadn’t been a single encounter with Neala Clarke over the past fifteen years that ended well. She just couldn’t be civil with me – she had to be rude and physical, and had to one-up me on everything."

So... because of their lovely niece and nephew's christmas present, for once again those two got themselves in serious trouble... And that's because of a doll!!!
Yep, fellows, a goddamn doll!!!

They fought, they lied, they made sneaky moves, they stole, they hit... and at the end, they got trapped unexpectedly on Darcy's house because of the snow...
Imagine those two in the same space... Pfff!!!

Will they kill each other or will they discover that this hatred has its roots very deep, so deep that maybe they had mistaken it for something that is not???

"Why was I reacting to him like this?
This was Darcy.
The same Darcy who drove me absolutely mad.
The same Darcy who was my enemy, and had been for fifteen years.
The same Darcy who had chosen another girl over me – his ex–best friend.
The same Darcy who hated me as much as I hated him.
My body, and now my mind, seemed to not care about any of that, because I liked his closeness, and his touch.
I fucking liked Darcy holding me this close to him.
What the hell do I do now? Admit myself to an asylum?"

I loved both Darcy and Neila...

They were so feisty, so devoted to make each other's life a living hell and when they were caught themselves to think the other in inappropriate way, they were hilarious...
Oh, they were also so goddamn stubborn!!!! But i have to admit that Neala was more ruthless than Darcy in her methods!!!

"Neala could be creative – very creative – with her methods of revenge. Each and every single one of her revenge plans over the years had left me wallowing in the shreds of my crumbled pride. I was well aware that she could bring a grown man to his knees . . . I was living proof of it. But as apprehensive as I was, I would be lying if I said the thrill of it didn’t excite me, because it did.
Neala was an adrenaline rush for me; she was something I craved and feared at the same time.
I’d never admit that out loud, though; it killed me just admitting it to myself."

There was a deep connection between them... A connection that they were trying to ignore and to mask it in something else....

And believe me when i say that i had read too many hate-love books but those people were pushing it too far... and i love them for that reason... I'm sick, right???
Even thought when they discovered that there was something more between them, they were refusing to believe it and it was such a pity....

But i honestly had such a great time in their companion!!!!

"“I understand you both have history,” he went on, “but I love that she gets to you this much. You actually freak out about her.”
I furrowed my eyebrows. “You find it funny that a woman pisses me off?”
“No, I find it funny that she gets under your skin and you like it and hate it at the same time.”
What the hell?
“I don’t like—”
“Don’t lie. Don’t say you don’t like Neala, because you do. You hate her because you want her so much. It’s obvious, to me anyway.”
“There is something wrong with you. I don’t want Neala in any way.”
Justin smirked but said nothing, and it bothered me."

As for both their families??? Gawd!!! Those guys were crazy!!!
But also lovely and very clever guys!!!

Neala and Darcy drove them crazy all those years and they just wanted to see them not fight for a change... Poor guys!!!! They were all the god damn time in the middle of the angry tornado of Neala and Darcy's attitude....
What made me a big impression was how all those guys were so bound together and how much they loved each other...

"This was Darcy, my Darcy. I had loved him a long time ago, and I hated him for years, but I’d also had an odd attraction that had solidified into a crush over the past few days. I’d never realised it, but Darcy was someone who was constantly on my mind, and seeing him made my day – even if it was just going to be filled with the pair of us arguing.
I think I had a serious thing for Darcy.
Shite."

Excerpt:

I snarled, "Give me the doll. Now!"
Darcy had the doll box against his chest with both hands on it. His fingers tapped against the box while a smug smile stretched across his face.
He glanced to the snowmen gathered around my feet and teased, "You've got to watch your step, sweetheart."
I blew out a frustrated breath. "I swear if you don't give me that bloody doll I'll-"
"You'll what?" Darcy cut me off, his smug smile still in place on his handsome face.
Damn him.
"I'll shove me foot so far up your arse you'll need a surgeon to remove it."
Darcy's eyes widened. "You're a foot shorter than me, and at least fifty pounds lighter. You're a tiny little thing, Neala Girl. I'm not scared of you. You can't hurt me."
Wrong.
He was so wrong.
"I can hurt you, and I will unless you give me the doll."
Darcy raised an eyebrow and snorted. "How about... no."
Bastard!
I curled my lip into a sadistic grin. "Okay, you asked for it."
Darcy shook his head at me and moved forward so he could brush by me. "I don't have time for – What the hell?"
When Darcy was close enough to do so I manoeuvred my body behind his, hooked my arms around his chest and searched for his nipples with my hands. When I found them, I grabbed them between my index fingers and thumbs and pinched.
"Me nipples, let go of me nipples!" Darcy roared.
I growled and tweaked his nipples a little harder.
"Let go of the doll, and I'll let go of your nipples."
There was a sentence I never thought I'd hear myself say.

5++ Awesome Enemies-to-Lovers Stars !!!

"It's a fine line between love and hate"

I absolutely loved this book and it is definitely going on my 6-star favourites shelf.

Darcy and Neala were inseperable as children. They were the very best of friends, the centre of each other's world even as ten-year olds. But one schoolyard betrayal resulted in these two becoming sworn enemies... forever at each other's throats.

Fifteen years later, Darcy and Neala still hated one another with a fiery passion. But one 'frozen' winter was about to change everything...

I had a smile plastered across my face the whole time I spent reading this book, and I was filled with the kind of butterflies you only get when you become fully invested in the crazy antics of a much beloved character. I am still whirling around, in a kind of giddy daydream, replaying some of the scenes in my head.

I absolutely loved the way Casey writes bickering dialogue. It is smart and snappy and absolutely hilarious. The author's sense of humour is evident throughout the book as Darcy and Neal plan out their attacks. The two meddling mothers are comedy gold as well, not to mention the discovery of Darcy's pet.

The chemistry between the two main characters was fuelled as much by their passion, as it was by their sense of (dark) humour. And I loved how they got bored if they went a few days without having each other to torment. They truly could not stay away from each other.

The plot never really slowed down. One crazy fight relentlessly followed on the heels of another. But with every chapter, the connection between these two became more clear (and like everybody else in the book, you wanted them to finally realise their love for each other and JUST GET IT ON ALREADY!)

But absolutely nothing and nobody could stand in the way of Neala's and Darcy's quest to out-do one another. Lovers, friends, family... shop assistants, they didn't stand a chance. They all basically became invisible when Darcy and Neala locked horns.

Their connection, and their importance to each other, was impenetrable.

I think it's safe to say that I loved the bickering. I could never quite decide who had the best come-backs. I was ridiculously giddy with the wit that bounced across the pages (mostly due to Lacey's brilliance at comedic timing, rhythm and plot-pace).

And of course there was the delectable Darcy. Aaah Darcy. I loved the way Darcy loved Neala as a boy and then (somewhat unknowingly) as a man. I loved how his love was woven into all that he did, even if he was able to rationalise it all away in his own head.

“You’re possessive of her. You never let anyone pick on her growing up. You—”
I cut Sean off. “Because she was mine to torture.”

“You wouldn’t go to any parties unless she was in attendance. You—”
I jumped in and cut Sean off again. “Because they weren’t any fun unless she was there so I could wind her up!”

“You punched Kenny and Luke Spencer in the face because they said she was hot at her sixteenth birthday party. You—”
“Because I didn’t want to deal with a boyfriend when I was torturing her . . .”

“You admitted that seeing her makes your day.”
“Because I know I drive her mad every time I see her, and that makes me happy. How can you not see any of this?”

LOL.

But Darcy's attentions were not solely focused on tormenting the adorably stubborn Neala. On many occasions he watched over her like a secret guardian angel... an angel who thought he hated her. I know. It's complicated. You have to read it to understand.

I do wish there was an epilogue... and a bit more steam...) but overall I just adored this book. It's one to keep and read over again.

I fell in love with this Irish gem and all the characters within it!

6 star favourite for sure!

☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ☆

"Neala was an adrenaline rush for me, she was something I craved and feared at the same time.. I’d never admit it though, it killed me just admitting it to myself.”

description

A couple of things came to mind when I thought of summing up this Holiday romance-
1) There’s a fine line between love and hate
2) When a boy teases you, it means he likes you

description

3) And Arnold Schwartzenegger’s movie, Jingle All the Way.

description

I mean, when a guy says:
"I’m not sweet talking you. I’ve just never told you that even thought we have hate for one another, I still have a lot love for you. Even though we are at each other’s throats all the time, you’re a huge part of my life. You take up half of it to be honest.”

description

It’s pretty clear with the whole childhood to adult feud going on between you where his TRUE FEELINGS really lie.

So, the back story:

Neala and Darcy were once best of friends, whose family has a long reputation of being besties as well.

“Darcy and I were best friends by default. Our mother’s were best friends, our older brother’s were best friends, our dad’s were best friends, even our grandparent’s, God rest them, were best friends.”

As feelings and awareness start to emerge and take notice, Darcy commits a fatal classic cliché that young boys do to girls, and from then on out the two are sworn enemies for the next twenty years.

description

"There was no escaping Darcy or his family after our falling out, so we both learned to tolerate one another as best we could…Which was usually fighting or pranking one another.”

Fast-forward till present day, and a couple days until Christmas… and with both Neala and Darcy promising to get the most sought out doll for their niece/nephew in time for Xmas... it’s going to be an epic showdown between the battle of the sexes to get a hold and sort through their erratic feelings for each other and secure that one hot off the press doll!

description

Now add in(++)-- some meddling between their families, a couple day snow in, some hot sizzling sex, and a couple of hilarious spats and you’ve got yourself a story! I swear, there’s a cute romance brewing between young Dustin and Charli and I’m so curious if their puppy love will go smooth sailing, or end up just like their aunt and uncle!! Such great role models!! lol!!

**Move on to a totally random side note-- ;)

#An entertaining and engaging read that will make hopeless romantics swoon and readers want to fall all over in love once more!!

This review has spoilers and no I'm not sorry for putting them because I LOVED IT!! Please dont hate me *covering my eyes*

I'm giving this book 5 'I peed my pants' laughable stars . It's my first book written byL.A. Casey and I seriously couldnt put this piece of fireworks down. I had to move into another room because I couldnt stop laughing my ass off. Scene after scene I would be impressed by the depths the characters went to get revenge, and I loved every plot they did.

Frozen is a story about 2 best friend Neala & Darcy who were friends by birth since their families were close and mainly did everything together. Until, at the age of 5 Darcy hit a boy for saying Neala was his girlfriend and then kicked Neala out of his house and things went chaos from then. Never have they met at a gathering and things went right! People were actually afraid of coming between their fights.

"I've never turned you or your cock down before Darcy... Quite frankly because you give me amazing orgasms but no orgasm, no matter how good, is worth the wrath of Neala Clarke." I sobered, and my dick softened, at the mention of her name.

"What the hell has Neala got to do with us shagging?" I asked. Laura smiled.

"This is her brother's engagement party, and I've been around you enough to know explosive shite happens when you're both at the same function. I don't want to jump to the top of her hit list by being on your arm tonight

Their mothers have been trying everything to stop this 20 year feud, but nothing worked.... until a week before Christmas! A doll came between them!!! Yup a freaking Fire Princess doll from a film called Blaze.

"It's not funny. She hurt me man, me nipples are fucking killing me. I thought she made them bleed at one point, either that or she ripped them clean off. She was like a wild animal!"

Everyone was damn afraid of their twisted pranks

"Sure, plotting my plan of attack against your brother over pizza sounds perfect to me."
Justin shook his head as he pressed on the screen of his phone, and lifted it to his ear.
"Poor little brother, he doesn't realise he opened the gates to Hell."

They went to the means to use "laxatives", "playing dead", "breaking into each others house" & even using a "parrot 'Einstein' " Darcy's parrot that kept telling Neala to F*ck off .

description

description
YESSSSS a freakin' parrot people!!!!!

"I had no clue how she would seek revenge on me and try to get the doll back. It was chilling to think about because Neala could be creative - very creative - with her methods of revenge. Each and every single one of her revenge plans over the years usually left me wallowing in the shreds of my crumbled pride. I was well aware that she could bring a grown man to his knees… I was living proof of it. But as apprehensive as I was, I would be lying if I said the thrill of it didn't excite me because it did. "

description

Attraction bloomed after like forever when they got snow stormed inside Darcy's house. Doors were blocked and so were windows ( And in the end it turned out their family had a hand in it... pranks just wont stop!! )
Secrets are shed after 3 days of being stuck together, but of course not before putting up a battle... mainly world war 3!!

"You're always beautiful, but baby, you're proving you can be sexy, too."

description

But even after baring themselves to each other, their pride was sooooo high they couldnt admit it

"Yes and no. I don't regret making friends with Neala, but I do regret having sex with her. I mean, not the initial act but the impending aftermath... it was just a mistake. I can't believe I thought it would actually be good for us and it could be a step in a new direction for the pair of us, but I was wrong. The best thing for us is just being platonic friends and-"

I enjoyed this book soooo much. The characters were adults but acted like kids and it was just HILARIOUS . They just kept on getting brilliant ideas that I'm looking forward to using when needed *wink wink*
They were funny, sexy, and unique. When Neala introduced to us Darcy he seemed like the biggest arse in the world... but she had her own ways of handling his HOT, SEXY ARSE!
They both were a handful, but throughout the book I just knew deep down that they were meant for each other even after all the destruction they caused.

I loved how the storyline was perfectly built and wonderfully described. You just could never guess what the hell would happen next

description

Reading this book made me realize the depths people go to hide their feelings! Sometimes the person you cant live without is right under you nose but you have no clue about it until its too late. This is a MUST read to everyone, but I'd rather you were alone in the room just so people wont think your lunatics!!

description

"Happy New Year, my Neala Girl."

A warm feeling of joy spread throughout my body as I hugged Darcy's body to mine.

"Happy New Year," I replied and smiled up at him.

He gazed down at me with so much emotion that it make me chuckle.

"What's so funny?" he asked, grinning.
"I was just thinking that you're a new Darcy." Darcy winked. "A happier Darcy now that I have you."
"Well, what do you know," I teased, "you're heart isn't frozen after all."

FROZEN is a book that will make you laugh your ass off. Literally!

I'm a big fan of L.A. Casey. I have read her Slater Brothers books and a big sign that it's her work is the hilarity of the characters. Well, this one might not be a part of her Slater Brothers series, but it's tenfolds funnier!

Oh.My.God.

Hahahaha! Just remembering their scenes in my head makes me crack up big time!

You know when you're having a totally bad day? Like everything is ruined and you just want a breather? I recommend that you pick this up and just read! 'Tis always the season to laugh anyway, so when you laugh so hard you fall off the chair? Guess what, no one will care! Haha!

Oh gosh, I put off reviewing this because really, I don't know what else to say aside from it's so good you'd laugh and laugh read it!

Hmmm..

O-kay I'll try to break it down.

The characters are both hilarious! Hahahahahah! Oh my! Let's just say that Neala and Darcy have had a thing for each other for the longest time. They were best buddies, then bam! Not anymore! Suddenly, it all revolved around the fighting, the one-upping and the making-the-other-person-feel-like-hell. Honestly, their families had had enough so they deviced a plan to make these two settle their differences.

It was fun reading about these two. It was sooooo much fun reading about how they kissed and made up. Hahaha! It's interesting, the things they burried within their history of pranks, fights etc. This is a fictional proof that really, you can't see everything on the outside. There's always, always a deeper reason for most things. :) What makes this so damn good is that even though they were addressing problems, it still felt so light.

*superhappysigh*

All in all, I highly recommend this for people who just want to feel good and laugh their assess off! ^_^

Perfect 5!!!

...Nah just...Nah

The mcs hate each other in their twenties for something that happened at age 10? The immaturity of this already lost me. Then this: "she'd pulled a complete three sixty on me and cut me out of her life without any explanation." First omg could you be more childish YOU WERE TEN.  Second, she literally gave you the entire explanation...yelled it at you in fact. Third, clearly we were lacking an understanding of geometry because 360° puts you back where you started...I think you meant a 180.
This might've gotten better who knows but I wasn't in the mood to deal with this level of immaturity on that hope

OMG this book, I can’t even tell you how funny it was. I laughed till I had TEARS, till my sides hurt.
And I am still chuckling. Why did I put off reading this book!

Not only did I get the audio version, but it come with 2 phenomenal narrators who brought this story to life. And the accents!! I have I mentioned I like accents. I soooo do.

Darcy and Neala were friends growing up they kind of had to because their mothers are best friends. Their fathers are best friends. Brothers are best friends. So growing up they were best friends until they weren’t any longer.

And there rivaly didn’t stop when they hit their teens or there early twenties. Not Twenty five and forced to play nice because the moms have had enough of their antics, the tricks and the tension they bring to the families when they are all together, which is a lot because their families are so intertwined.

“I’d have to be vigilant and guard my nipples, but other than that it’d be fun.. right?” – Darcy

Only when Neala promises her niece a doll for Christmas and its sold out everywhere she tries on last store, and who happens to be looking for the very same doll for his nephew… Darcy.

“I’d punch you, only I don’t wanna get moron on my hand.” – Neala

Things only get funnier the more this book goes on. I soo don’t want to give anything away so I will leave you with this…. A bird that can throw down an insult like you wouldn’t believe and one crazy Christmas you won’t soon forget. My sides and face can attest to this.. I think I smiled to much is that even possible?

It was okay, I guess. It was too similar to Checkmate, IMO, and not in a good way. I found the story and its characters very annoying. Especially the MCs.

I love this author and this might be a "it's me not you" situation.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

Call me an activist or an injustice hero crime fighter (I kind of like that one)-

WATCH OUT WORLD, CHAN THE IHCF TO THE RESCUE!

but there was too much unevenness in this story and it didn’t sit well with me. Actually it bothered me a lot. Neala (love the name) could not catch a break. She was deeply wronged several times and not just from Darcy, but her family too.

It was a cute story and I laughed numerous times. But what stuck with me was the glaring injustices that Neala endured. In order to maintain peace she had to be the bigger person and let it go. I understand life is not fair, but come on.

This is not the first L.A Casey book I have read, and it won't be the last.
I absolutely loved this .
I have to say I was laughing out loud like a loon through most of this book.
The characters are fun, lovable and relatable, the story line was believable and extremly funny and lovely at the same time.

2.5 out of 5 stars

Second try with L.A. Casey and unfortunately I guess her writing style isn't just for me. I really enjoyed one third of the story, it was funny and sassy. I even laughed out lout sometimes. The book had started out good because I love love/hate relationships. But throughout the story, I got bored and the scenes got redundant. I mean, the female MC is just so angry at everyone all the time. It's frustrating to read about a character who is so agressive, she's even mean at her mom. At first, I liked that trait of character because we don't have much heroines like that, but it got tiring to be in her mind. To have the male MC's POV was a good point because he was way funnier and nicer.

Concerning the story, I can't say it was original... On one part, it is, because I haven't read much books where the characters get stuck together and have to support each other. But I didn't feel anything, it lacked emotional depth. I laughed at some points but that's it. The way the characters changed their mind was so sudden, it didn't feel realistic. Then, I discovered the plot twist I was just like "meeh..". It wasn't huge, and the way it was set didn't make it feel credible. At the contrary, the female is a stubborn little thing !

Frozen was a light-hearted and funny read that won't stay in my mind for long.

It was a very fun read!
There was a little thingy that I hated and that's the mistake that Darcy made in the beginning.
But also don't really know if it's a spoiler or not.
The scene in the store was quite funny, and as I hear from some it's actually realistic.

Even though we don't get to see it right away, Darcy is an alpha. I discovered it along the way
in the little things that came to light.

I enjoy everything that L.A. Casey writes.
While reading this I got the giggling and pulling feelings I so love about books.

Omg I loved this book so much I can't even properly describe it. So funny and so heart warmingly cute! Loved the Irish verbiage and cultural references too! The story line wasn't new and it was predictable but the way it was executed made it refreshing and adorable! Perfect winter read!

enemies to lovers romance

This book was funny at times and sweet at others. I enjoyed the characters. It does have a 25 year old virgin which is usually a deal breaker for me. Also a lot of the scenarios were unrealistic. I still liked it for the most part.

I don't like it. Neala n Darcy are 25 not five, their behaviour telling us that they both in their pre-school time, childish

Some of the lines maybe funny but I m too old to understand it, if their acts just shown they were in love, sorry I won't buy it

Time is limited, spend wisely

«Io… io ti piaccio? Voglio dire, in quel senso?».”

Neala promised her niece a Fire Princess doll for Christmas but it's sold out everywhere. When she got her hands on the last one available, Darcy wants to fight her for it.
Their brothers are best friends. So are their mothers and their fathers. They have been best friends once. And Darcy wants to get this doll for his nephew. He didn't think Neala, who went from being his world to suddenly a stranger back in school, would fight dirty...

It wasn't much of a suprise that there's fighting over a doll in this one. But the literally fighting, her attacking his nipples and all, was a lot of fun. As was all the other stuff they do. It got melodramatic toward the end but I enjoyed it. Especially her little secret and other small surprises.
Darcy commiting the ultimate best friend betrayal - I don't care that they were only children - made me think I wasn't ever going to like him but he was okay.

It was pretty easy to predict where this was headed but it wasn't too bad with the jumps from present to past and between their POVs. That best friend tradition is also great.
I liked how they developed but when they finally get the chance to talk about everything that happened that one day and other memories of their love-hate-relationship, their transition is too smooth. They have a story and stuff has happened, it can't be that easy to ovecome it all.
The mandatory misunderstanding made it better.

I loved that Laura was still around. His relationship with the hottest girl around, how she affects him, of course, annoyed me but it added to the story and to their authenticity. That makes him so believable.

I did expect more, though. The banter was good and it's fun and all but I didn't really feel it. maybe it was too much fun for that. And the snowing-in-conspiracy was somewhat too much.

But I absolutely loved her niece and especially his nephew. Little Dustin being like "I got this for you" was the best part of the book. Not because of their fight over the Fire Princess but because it's just the sweetest thing ever!
