Cranky - The Book Curmudgeon

*** 3.5 Cranky Stars ***

I originally had trouble with this book mainly because of how the sentence structure was laid out. No real complex sentences and I likened it to reading how William Shatner spoke. As the book went on I got into it and the sentence structure was at the back of my mind.

So in this story we have a story of Mila and Landon and her brother Jax. I was on the fence about Mila the whole time I read this book. I knew this was her life with her brother but she could have been a lit

In a funny twist of fate, I’m munching down on a McDonald’s Big Mac while writing a review about a book filled with McDonald’s meal slipped in between the pages.

Once again, I’ve started reading without an aid of a synopsis. It’s really fun that way, believe me. I just went by the title and book cover. Just like in my previous reviews, I get a mental picture of the story based on movies or TV programs I’ve watched before. What Lies Beneath...sounds like a suspense-horror story especially with a p

I'm always so hesitant when it comes to vampire books. But this one was different. There weren't just vampires, but demons too. When Mila's brother gets kidnapped, she has to join forces with a vampire to track him down. The banter between Mila and Landon was everything. Mila's a rare female character that has a low tolerance for bullshit. Landon is cocky and full of it. But with them together, it was actually quite hilarious an

I really really enjoyed this book! Vampires and Demons to get your blood pumping. The suspense and action is wonderful as well. This is definitely a must read if you love paranormal romance with an action twist! I am so glad that I was able to read it!

Mila just turned 18. She knows what she wants out of life but isn't sure how to get there. Her and her brother live o

I loved getting hooked by the story and it really kept me focused. Great read. We need more of this story.

I will start off by saying that, I have never read a book that has a vampire character in; I’ve not even read twilight even though I have seen the films! Don’t judge me, I have nothing against vampire books, I just hadn’t read any until this book (what lies beneath)

I also would like to add that I absolutely adore mila! I felt like I had to see where her story went, to me she came across as kind of a lost soul. She knew what she wanted but she didn’t know how to get it, and when she finally talke

*Small Spoiler*

This is the second book that I have read by Nicole Thorn. And this is the second time she was able to suck me into one of her amazing stories and leave me wanting more. What Lies Beneath is not your average Paranormal Romance novel. It has action, suspense, monsters, and, of course, romance. But it's not the lovey dovey, sappy kind of romance. Which makes it even better because when you have a book about vampires a

Ms Thorn has got huge talent. She successfully draws you into this epic read from the very beginning. The characters, brother and sis duo, and the hunk of a vampire Landon, were all extremely likeable. I am a sucker for strong intelligent female heroines, and Thorn definitely delivers. Not only strong, but sassy, witty and spunky, beyond her years, is the protagonist Milla Moody. Laugh out loud at much of the dialogue and her way of thinking. I absolutely loved her personality and character.

GOOD REVIEWS: Reviews needed: New Adult paranormal romance 1 5 Jan 09, 2016 08:38PM
Nicole "Cappie" Thorn was born in California but, after a stint in Kansas, moved to a suburb of Phoenix. She spends a lot of her free time knitting and reading from her massive book collection. Her eclectic tastes, like Disneyland, Buffy and all things London, carry into her writing. She started writing in her early twenties and finds it wonderfully addictive.
