So what is Splintered Fate?

It's a mercilessly paced debut, fun in every fantastical way, from the story's tension-filled opening straight through to the (view spoiler) climax in which Yelena Lugin gathers up all the breadcrumbs of political instability, impending war, and the familiar conflict so classically wrapped up within and torches them with sparks of lightning and silver swords formed of energy. Yes, it's that kind of wo

Head over to darlingandco.blogspot.com for full review!

I have been given the pleasure to read and review a book by someone I am very proud to call my friend. I met Yelena Lugin through the wonderful world of Goodreads while reading The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. We have bonded over our love for books and dreams for our futures. When she told me that she wanted to send me a copy of Splintered Fate for my 21st* birthday, I was honored. I knew I would like it due to our similar tastes in bo

Okay, so I just finished reading this!

First of all, it's super cool to know the author of the book that you're reading. We may not know each other in real life, but through goodreads, but it's still pretty cool :)

To the actual review now:
Overall I liked the plot, and the idea of Ramis and Madonians. It was nice to read about their background story as well, to know what happened in the past that resulted in their current world.

Something that I did think about was the changes between present and

First I want to thank the author for providing me a copy of this book.

I always get drawn to Ancient lore. Once I read Ancient Lands, Kings and Queens, I just got super excited.
Despite these Ancient fellows, there are two races that were friendly back then but now not so much, the Madonians and the Rami.
The Madonian and Rami were ancient races; each had unique gifts setting the two apart. In the forgotten times of the past the races used to cohabitate and work together, living together in harmon

I bought this book as a quick read, curious to see what a fresh author had to offer. This is my first real venture into independently published novels and I was very impressed with Yelena Lugin's tale. The book is filled with rich and original characters as well as story development. The plot never grew stale and at times is enthralling and captivating. The author's vivid universe is rich with imagination and creativity. The realm Lugin has immersed us in leaves me impatiently waiting for the se ...more

I don't normally write reviews, but this is a hidden gem that definitely needs to be found! In the name of brevity and without spoiling anything--if you like YA fiction, dystopian societies, new worlds with undefined time periods and mystical creatures--this book is a must read. You will experience every emotion and often find yourself holding your breath as you follow our heroine's story. Not to mention, there's a twist near the end...and you'll never guess!

For a new first time Author I was impressed with this book.
The story line was intriguing, standing out against some of the more generic fantasy stories out there.
I am excited to see how this story develops.

Splintered Fate

AMAZING READ! Fast paced page tuning from page 1 to final edge of seat climax. Which i am counting the days to read the book in the series.. If this is a debut ...fantastically done! I couldn't put it down. This book had depth in character and world building. I love a a strong female. Especially one who grows and learns about herself as story develops. Splintered Fate is focused on a world divided between the Madonians ,a race of people with great powers within themselves. especia

I really enjoyed the book, that's why I read it in two days. But for me there is one main issue with it, it took too long for me to get into the novel and really enjoy reading it. I had to wait about 3 or 4 chapters for the story to really take off. But after that it was really great, I would really recommend it!

Shelves: fantasy
The story itself is quite good, focusing on a young girl with lot of responsibilities in a world on the brink of potentially devastating war. The revelations by the end are quite interesting. And I have a thing for personal bonds with a creature, Aorra in this case, which is well done.

A journey full of fantasy. I enjoyed reading about the relationship between the wolf and Lana, the wolf is not only her best friend but an integral component of her soul. This is a great novel for a young teenager.
