The Moon People have been enemies to Netya's kind for as long as the stars can remember. They are monsters, demons, men and women who take the shapes of beasts. The murderers of her father.

Disappointing. I was so excited to read this one and I downloaded for free with a sense of eager anticipation. I thought it'd be the typical story about an alpha male getting all dominant over a reluctant heroine in a prehistoric setting. It's not.

First of all this isn't a conventional romance featuring an alpha hero, a heroine, some conflict leading to a HEA for the protagonists and at the end when all it's said and done, a established couple. This book is menage erotica and anything goes: M/M,

If you read as much as I do it's very hard to find books that surprise you. Be it paranormal , sci fi or even suspense a seasoned reader will usually have some sort of idea how the story will play out. I spotted this and immediately thought it might be erotic sci fi so imagine my delight when it turned out to be a story about prehistoric werewolves! Yes that's right Stone Age , clad in furs people who can shift but dont think it's just an excuse for a sexy romp because it turns out this book is ...more

I enjoyed this book much more than expected - this book was surprisingly good and well written - the title and cover made it seem like another smutty book but it really isn't - there was so much more depth than anticipated - I really enjoyed it and it's FREE on Amazon - definitely check it out

I'm not quite sure what to make of this. Honestly, it seemed to go on forever, and I ended up skipping bits just to see how it ended.

This was listed as romance, but it didn't read that way. There's a lot of sex (which is fine, but the book relies on that a little too much to get attention - and it's fairly repetitive) and various bits of story (most of which was a bit dull), but not much romance at all. Indeed, Netya switches partners a couple of times and I was never sure who I was supposed to

Just noticed that this intriguing shifter tale is now FREE!

If you enjoyed the prehistoric world of Clan of the Cave Bear but though the book needed some shapeshifers, then The Alpha's Concubine will be right up your alley. Our heroine is sucked out of her normal village life when she's captured by a band of werewolves in a raid. Turned into the alpha's concubine in her new life, she has to find her way within an entirely different culture than her own.

This is a very different werewolf book than

Interesting premise, historic shape shifters feminist novel. But the pace.... so slow. I feels like a documentary vs a blockbuster movie. The heroine is a curious girl who grew up sheltered, but open-minded to learn all she can to be something more.

Okay Read if You Can Stomach the Beginning

Netya at the beginning of the book was puzzling to me and I very nearly put the book down. The Moon People were feared rivals and the first time Netya interacted with them it was to be abducted by their Alpha. But she had to hold on to the wolf carrying hey away which she did with no protest or fight to get away or back to the people she grew up with including her family and a young man she was interested in. Carried along to a new place to become the Al

Loved this book. It wasn't a cheesy romance (I do love my share of cheesy romances) but a coming into the self type of story where the "victim" becomes her own person. Main character Netya is a young virginal war trophy who earns both mistrust and the love of some of the Moon People's most intimidating clan members. I'm getting ahead of myself.

Moon People are a group of shifters while Netya's people are humans known as the Sun People. Of course, both clans know nothing of the other's cultures wh

This story is a cross between Clan of the Cave Bear and Twilight: New moon. This was a lengthy and epic tale of a young girl and her coming of age in a time before the use of metal was common and some people still lived in caves and tents. The story does have a few sex scenes but nothing over the top. Euphemisms like throbbing member and slick folds were used. I myself prefer more graphic words. The story has a steady pace. The characters are well developed.
Netya is kidnapped by the alpha of a w

Reminds me of Jean Auel's books.

The Alphas Concubine reminds me of Jean Auels Earths Children series in scope and themes. Netya is kidnapped to become the alphas concubine, but she becomes so much more.

Set in the late stone age, The Alphas concubine explores the conflict between Netya's human sun people and the wolf shifter moon people they fear and hate. It also explores the conflict between men's and women's leadership and the need to chose to serve yourself first, or to sacrifice your desires

I chose this book from the Frazetta like cover, and the title, because I was in the mood for a bit of sexy fluff. However, the title doesn't begin to do this book justice. It is deep, thoughtful, and follows the awakening and evolving of the main character as she finds her own considerable power and status. There are some sex scenes in the book, and they are touching, filled with feeling, and done with grace. I wanted to urge the author to retitle this book something that truly respects the dept ...more

Great story

I usually am bored by paranormal shifter books because they all see the same, but this book was really so much more than I expected. The characters have such depth and the story is a brilliantly balanced mix of conflict, suspense, sexiness and angst. The heroine is a young girl abducted by a group of shifters, who is actually saved by the Alpha of the group by taking her as his concubine. As the story progresses she becomes more aware and mature, and eventually her being there changes

This is an absolutely great read about a young girl's transformation into a strong woman, trying to overcome prejudice, challenge tradition, and find her place and her purpose in a culture different form her own. Interesting characters and just enough romance without taking away from the substance of the story. I could not put it down!

I'm not able to connect to these characters and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the time period it's set in, I'm not sure though. I'm DNF'ing this at 20%. Maybe it's someone else's cup of tea but it's just not mine.

Recommends it for: historical fantasy fans
Spectacularly written! I was lost in the wonderful world the author created, mixing a historical fiction setting with paranormal shifter elements. The plot was well developed as well as the main and supporting characters. I normally do not like love triangles because I always root for the underdog- and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the underdog wins! Unlike most of my paranormal reads, I took my time combing through this book because the plot and twists were way more elaborate. This wa ...more

This book was incredibly different and more out of the box than most books have been for me. I believe this to be my first time reading one of Claudia King's books and I can tell you it won't be my last. I am soooooo impressed with all the characters and thoughts that went into this book to make it worth reading all the way through, I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next which is rare because once the build up of a story passes through the middle of a book it will only go on to ...more

Interesting Prehistoric Paranormal Tale

I found it interesting that this series originates in ancient times and much of it revolves around clashes between wolves and ancient humans. This gave a different slant to the usual present day scenarios of interactions between wolves and humans that most stories are about. Of course, there is the usual discordant episodes that result from different humanoid species that always occurs. This was a well-written tale which never failed to hold my attention.

Surprised this was a free book on kindle, and unpublished at that! Aside from a few annoying grammar and flow issues, it was excellent! Not too sexually explicit. Great job of making her alternate reality seem realistic. The characters actually had depth, weren't bland, and it wasn't really predictable like you find in many of the romance genres. I'm not usually a reader of romance novels, unless they have a good fantasy twist like this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I'm recommending i ...more

At last, at last!

I read, a LOT!! I read just about anything - sci fi, fantasy (favorites), romance, murder/mystery, thrillers, nonfiction in things catching my interest (no sicko psychos though). I have not read a book this good in a long time! Too many authors, no matter the genre, get too hung up in moaning and teeth gnashing angst of who is not good for whom or who was the more responsible for the situation. You could remove it and cut the word count in half and still have the story - but bet

Not what I was expecting...

I gave this book 5 stars because though it was free it was so beautifully written! Not at all the typical shifter romance sort of book with shallow characters and the main characters suffering from MarySue/GarySue syndrome. Complex and feeds the imaginative soul! This story was written with love and through trial and error we watch every character take shape.
I was not expecting what transpired through the story, and though it's a little bittersweet the whole story is w

I enjoyed this book much more than expected. The story was intriguing, and the author took time to develop some interesting characters, particularly Adel.
One character that was not developed nearly enough was the heroine, Netya. I found her to be very detached throughout the vast majority of the novel, and without much personality. Little to none of her past was divulged, she presents to have no likes nor dislikes, and no skills. The clan Alpha, Khelt, similarly did not have as strong a persona

I scooped ”The Alpha’s Concubine” up because it was free on Kindle, and boy am I glad I did. The historical part of it was really well done, and I was happy that it wasn’t purely smut (because the book is a bit long, for it to be all smut it would have been A LOT of smut).

The only drawbacks are that there were a few typos that kind of took me out of the story for a little bit, and I felt this book would’ve been better as a standalone. Apparently it was made as a series, and as much as I liked t

My favorite couple of all had to be netya and caspian I really wish there was more scenes with them together and there was a part of the book that had her month time late but it never dove more into that and it would have been awesome to explore more into her carring a child but it was a great read honor was spelled wrong but still great read you will love the characters and the wolf aspect to it it felt like netya really was made for the moon people

An unexpected treat

From the cover art and description I expected an erotic story of domination. What I got was so much more. This is a story about a primitive tribe and their very exciting life. There were battles, hunts, and every day life in the tribe. The characters were great. The romance was good also.

Hello there! I'm Claudia King, a huge nerd of a writer who decided a few years ago that it was about time to put all those creative writing classes to good use rather than going out to get a real job.
