While Chloe Neill’s first DEVIL’S ISLE installment was high on action, THE SIGHT was more geared towards the political implications of two opposing sides learning to live together post war. The tension does come to a head around the halfway point which is when this book got really interesting, but the earlier chapters do make it somewhat difficult to get into the story which may cause some readers to give up prematurely.

There’s very little recap, and most of the world-bu

I struggled with this one. Whilst I liked book #1, The Veil, I couldn't get into the story!! In fact, I put it down a few times and forced myself to finish reading it.

I do like the heroine, Claire Connolly and some of the other secondary characters but they don't wow me!!! Another thing is that I just can't seem to connect with the world that the author is building.

I'm not sure if I will continue with this series.
I much prefer the author's Chicagoland Vampires Series.

The Sight is the second installment in Chloe Neill's urban fantasy series titled: Devil's Isle. I was uncertain about this series when I started it with the first book, but after reading this second, I'm feeling much more confident. Chloe Neill's signature writing style is starting to shine through and The Sight shows a strong heroine who is growing stronger while managing to hold on to her humanity (and hope) in a very inhumane world. I just love heroines like that, don't you?

The continued story of humans versus magical creatures after a major war. Hope and love, bud on the vine but may never get to bloom.
Bigots, haters, complete intolerance, destruction of property, and murders, the story paralleled the turmoil happening in the real world today. Reading about the protests, the anger, the fights, to name calling and bulling, so sadly realistic. The fight for equality, freedom and peace is also very real.

This was a good second installment in the Devil's Isle series. I didn't like it quite as much as the first book in the series but it was a solid story that left me quite excited about where things are going. This is a series that really needs to be read in order since this book picks up shortly after the first one left off with all of the familiar characters being a part of the story. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

THE VEIL was one of my favorite new books last year so I was definitely looking forward to its sequel, THE SIGHT. Since this is book two in the Devil’s Isle, it’s best to read this series in order because Neill wastes no time in catching readers up on past events. We’re in the middle of a war that gets dangerous fast. Standing in the middle of it all is Claire Connolly, a Sensitive who has this magic that could result in death if she is discovered. Liam Quinn, the bounty hunter, is the only one ...more

Riveting, entertaining, with an almost unique take on the paranormal world, Neill's latest series is definitely one that stands out and shines.

Every bit as good as its predecessor, The Sight was hard to put down and kept me eagerly turning the pages right up until the devastating end.

With unforgettable characters (love Moses!) and a whole cast of unusual paranormal beings, it truly does have a place all its own in the genre.

With new threats at every turn, new adventures to be had, Claire and h

The Sight is book 2 in the Devil’s Isle series. I highly recommend that you read this series in order. Although Neill does a great job catching you up, it just isn’t the same as getting it from the start.

Claire is a magic sensitive, living in a world where humans fear all things magic. If she is found out, at the very least, locked up on Devil’s Isle and at the worst killed. Bounty hunter, Liam, knows her secret but has not turned Claire in.

There is some speculation or Claire's true parentage a

If you’re just picking up this book, take a deep breath. Starting up from where The Veil left off, the author wastes no time tossing us right into the middle of the action that is Devil’s Isle. For that reason (and because it was a spectacular series starter,) I suggest not reading The Sight until you have read the first book in this series.

There was so much to love about this book:

Chloe Neill is one of the best urban fantasy authors out there. She writes her books with a very sure hand and we as readers never once doubt her ability to use every scene to its maximum potential. Armed with experience and a whole lot of love for her characters, she writes one successful story after another. When you go to a bookstore for your urban fantasy fix, Neill is as safe a bet as they come.

With The Veil, there was some fear that she won’t be able to pull herself away from her

In The Sight Claire is continuing to learn how to control and release her magic to prevent becoming a wraith. She has become a bounty hunter in training assisting Liam Quinn. A new threat is forming which cast a threat on the city and those they love. A cult is on the rise led by zealot named Ezekiel. He believes destroying all paras and those who support or contain them will restore NOLA. His charismatic charms have humans frustrated with living conditions joining his army.

I’ve been feeling urban fantasy lately, so I was eager to jump back into this world. I liked The Sight, but not as much as The Veil. Does that mean it’s not a good book? Absolutely not. It’s still a solid read that left me wanting more.

Gotta love a New Orleans setting, even if it’s a messed up version of the real thing. A new danger comes into play that threatens paranormals and humans alike, wreaking havoc all over the city. On top of dealing with the new threat and keeping the city safe, th

I had to take a moment to think about this upon finishing it, because it's such a departure from what we usually get from Chloe Neil. But that's a really good thing. We still get her trademark snark, just in smaller doses, there are still wonderful side characters, the world is incredibly rich, and it's still full of action. But Devil's Isle is much darker than what I'm used to from this author. More death, less optimism. I'm still awed by the social commentary, the fictional problems very stark ...more

Claire and Liam may have already saved New Orleans from disaster once but that doesn't mean things are about to calm down, in fact they've now got an even bigger battle on their hands as an evil cult sets out to destroy Devil's Isle and all it's Paranormal inhabitants. The terrorists will stop at nothing to achieve their goal and they don't care how many civilian casualties get caught in the crossfire which makes them even more dangerous. It's been ages since I've read one from Neill but I was quickly reminded of why I used to enjoy her books-- great characters, tension, and excitement wrapped up in a paranormal package. Oh yes. The Sight was a good reminder and an entertaining read.

The quick of it is that there are humans, there are paranormals and there are humans that hate both the paranormals and humans they interact with and are trying to wipe them ou

After a kind of lukewarm feeling about the first book in this series, I have to say that I enjoyed this one quite a bit more. I think that’s because I finally started feeling more of a connection to the characters, which ultimately made me care more about what happened to them.

If you didn’t read The Veil, you’re probably going to feel lost jumping in here. This second installment picks up right on the heels of that one with very little rehash. A war between humans and supernaturals has turned Ne

My English review

I liked the first novel in the series without reading more from Chloe Neill and I was curious to read more there. I must say that I was anxious to see what would happen between Liam and Claire, and with the paranormal aspect, whether the imprisoned ones or not.

Thus we find our characters facing a new danger. Indeed, a sect named Reveillon is being set up and is determined to destroy all the paranormal and humans protecting them. You can imagine that it w

Meh. The first one was better. I'm not sold on this series yet. A lot less happened in this than in the last one. It was boring. The focus of this was on a zealot who was rousing hate among people in the zone. He was a stereotypical bad guy. The plot highlighted how much hate there was for paranormals, but did nothing to enrich my knowledge of the world.

I'm not in love with the characters. The side characters need some serious work. I don't care about any of them. If any of them died in one of

The Sight is book two in the Devil’s Isle series by Chloe Neill. We’re in the middle of a war that gets dangerous fast.

This series does need to be read in order. Their is very little recap, and most of the world-building is laid out in book one, The Veil. Each book builds on the next getting us deeper into the magical and political world.

The Sight is tailored towards the political implications of two opposing sides. The start was a bit slow, which made it hard to get into the story, but around

*My Thoughts*

The Sight is the second novel in author Chloe Neill's Devil Isle's series. This is a series that is set in a dystopian like New Orleans. This series has absolutely nothing to do with the author's Chicagoland Vampires series. Protagonist Claire Connelly is not Merit. Liam Quinn is not Ethan. Claire is a Sensitive who was exposed to magic when the veil opened up and led to the Paranormal war that ended Seven years ago. Those with para

I loved it! I am not going to talk about the plot because I don't want to give it away. The only thing I hate about this book is how long I have to wait before I can get my hands on the next installment.

I love how different this series is from the Chicagoland Vampire series. I can see a definite improvement. It is not as light and I feel it is more detailed; the characters are also better developed. The Sight didn't have as much action as The Veil did, and it didn't need it. I enjoy Cl

The Sight is the second book in this series, and one I was very eager to make a start on as soon as possible. The threat of the Veil being opened has gone, but a new threat is in town, and Claire must find a way to not only save the ones she loves, but also the lives of humans and paras.

In the second book of her Devil’s Isle series, Ms. Neill expands upon her exciting world filled with Paranormals, humans, and Sensitives (humans with magic abilities). The Sight picks up with heroine Claire Connolly and her group of friends continuing to thrive in post-war New Orleans, in the Zone, an area ravaged by the battle between Paranormals and humans. However, a newly emerging group, the Reveillon, wants to rid the world of all things magical, as well as the humans who support the captur ...more

If you like an exciting urban fantasy, then The Sight by Chloe Neill is for you. I’ve enjoyed every one of her 13-book Chicagoland Vampires series. That meant that her new series, The Devil’s Isle was an easy pick for me. The Sight is book number two in that series, so be sure to start off with the first book, called The Veil.

Set in New Orleans, following a war between humans and paranormals the series features Claire Connolly. She’s a human scrambling to stay afloat with her mercantile business
