I had the pleasure of reading this book after I recieved it in a goodreads giveaway. I must say, I always enjoy collected works but find that I skip around if I do not like the stories or there are too lengthy at first. I kept myself from doing this with this book because the stories varied in length and were mixed up quite nicely.

This was one of my first times reading displaced reality stories and I found many of the stories in this book were very well written. While I enjoyed some more than others, such as "Fast" and "Live Ship", the rest were still appealing to readers of many age groups.

The stories remained entertaining throughout, but some reminded me of familiar stories such as "Deadspin Island" made me think of the blob, while "Initiation" reminded me of Event Horizon. The best stories in the books were those that captured things from everyday human life and transformed them to something much more, much like Fast did with time.

These stories made it more appealing to a reader who may not enjoy galactic setting stories and things of that nature. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers who are interested in displaced reality, science fiction, or a combination of the two. For a reader who had never read the subject, these stories provided a nice introduction to a variety of stories, and they told captivating narratives that kept you wanting more.
