Hi, I'm Ryan! I was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1980 and since then have written several books. You can read my Wikipedia page for more, or check out my author site at RyanNorth.ca!

I'm the author of the webcomic Dinosaur Comics (that's the comic where the pictures don't change but the words do, it's better than it sounds and I've also done crazy things like turn Shakespeare into a choose-your-own-path adventure, write a comic for Marvel about a girl with all the powers of a squirrel, or mess up walking my dog so badly it made the news.

I'm working on more stuff as we speak, hopefully it's good

"Hey, guess what?? Here's your PAYBACK, buttjerks!" - Ice King

Untitled

Aw man, is this yet ANOTHER story in which Finn loses his memory and wakes up years away in the future?? Not cool, bro. This is like the 123764 time you use this idea. Nah, not cool AT ALL. 😑

Untitleffd

But hey, at least we have a bunch of comics drawn by different characters that are kinda interesting, I guess. Meh 😑

Reading this after the finale has given the time travelling arc a whole new meaning, and actually made this comic one of my favourites out of them all so far.

These was a wild time traveling story and it was great all threw here's a plot hole I thought Princess Bubblegum and Marceline were immortal so why were they ageing ?
never explains why, but other then that great story and funny, I don't really know if it a canon story threw or just one of the books in the series that going to be forgotten these is my first time reading a adventure time comic and I love the show and the comic was no let down .

Ice king is having a bday but his penguin friend didn't send out the invites so he is upset when people don't show up and then another enemy pops up and takes away Finns memory. Turns out he has been feeding on Jake's memories for a while and now that they are aware time to fight to get them back. Instead more of his memories are eaten up and he wakes up an adult next to the Flame Queen.

Wow. This issue was legitimately amazing. This is the first time (to my knowledge) that they truly referenced prior episodes. Time travel was done and it was done really well. I also loved the initial "comic book" as created by Marceline.

Not a bad adventure with the gang, this time around. Bonnibel and Marceline figure prominently. (I burst out laughing at their plans to drive cars on a Hot Wheels-like track, complete with a loop!)
AND, for once, I enjoyed the longer story.

Good times, good times.

Oh. My. Glob. Time Travel? Memory eating? Marceline and QB as co-queens (swoon)? AND mini comics "created" by different Adventure Time characters? Why yes. Yes, Volume 7 does have all of these.

It is worth for the "MarcelZine" in the beginning alone. Also loved the whole story afterwards. The takeaway at the end really stayed with me.

If you haven't read any of these I suggest starting from volume 1; they are really great. My Son says some of them follow the show too!

The seventh volume of the collected Adventure Time comics, this was one of my favorites, I think. The collection starts off strong with a zine collected by Marceline the Vampire Queen herself and including stories "written and illustrated" by various Adventure Time characters, from Lemongrab to Lady Rainicorn (and featuring the work of some awesome guest artists, including Liz Prince and Yumi Sakugawa). The main storyline in this collection is also pretty fun, pitting Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline, and other characters against the Mnemonoid (a sarcastic robed alien creature obviously inspired by one of D&D's most creepy creatures, the illithids)- the fiend devours Finn's memories causing him to awaken years into the future, allowing us glimpses of teenage, 30-something, and elderly Finn. I also enjoyed the references to the previous Adventure Time comics, and I really felt the Mnemonoid to be one of the series most effective villains, rivaling even the Liche (though the memory-eater is a little more personable). Ryan North and artists Shelli Peroline and Branden Lamb continue to do a bang up job replicating the feelings and colorful actions of the show, and I'm looking forward to reading the next volume!

And Ryan North does it again, writing a wonderful, creative Adventure Time comic that encompasses the best qualities of the show (yes, there is a TV show too, did you know that? It gets a shout-out at one point in the comic) while making great use of the form. The first issue is just good, as a fanzine made up of comics written by the various characters, which does a good job of highlighting each character in their own style. But the balance of the collection is a series of battles with new character, the Mnemonoid, who keeps eating Finn's memories for various lengths of time. So we get various future versions of Finn as he grows up, and we get multiple versions of the world around him as things just seem to get worse. The action scenes are strong, the humor is strong, there's even some pathos, and the resolution is one of the more inspired moments in the entire series. And there's a brief aside on one page that makes me want to go back and review every previous comic to confirm it. That's an impressive series of features for a single book, and honestly I don't think I've ever read a licensed comic title that has so consistently matched (and even exceeded) its source materials like Ryan North's Adventure Time comics have. Highly recommended.

This was the second Adventure Time comic I've read to the kids I babysit, & it DEFINITELY did not live up to its predecessor. This had tiny, dense text, an unclear beginning, few fun phrases or sound effects, a complicated plot, & very little action. Not much to keep the attention of a new or young audience.

As an invested adult fan, however, I enjoyed seeing Finn age, , Marceline's fantastic zine, and - especially - the clear inclusion of canon Bubbline. The story is sloppy (nothing about the girls' driving or the Ice King in general needed to be in there, while it might have made more sense to introduce LSP earlier) and the dialogue is far less fun than most Adventure Time outings. Read this one if you're already a fan, but don't expect it to convert anyone else.

I've always believed that PB and Marceline are just hardcore best friends because they can find companionship in being both immortal and also I guess they're opposite characters fill in each other's personality. However, in this volume I am starting to believe that they're in a romantic relationship. I love them together tho.

btw this actress from "how to get away with murder" reminds me of Marceline

goofy arc as all heck this one is. Comics from different characters point of view. A memory eating (or story eating monster) and time travel. Just another excellent adventure with our pals finn and Jake. Of course, with time travel there is always some musing on aging.

This is when this book really shines. When it takes on a bunch of interesting stuff about life and plasters them with comics. Thinly veiled reality, now that`s an adventure worth having. True talk.
