Bonjour, my name is André Chevalier. It has been my joy and my great honor to help those who have lost their way. Not long after I began my journey, I met two such wounded souls.
Renata Koreman, my little mouse. She came to me as a child—shy, mute, injured… broken. It took oh-so many years to start to bring her back to herself! Yet, I could not fully heal her.
Years later, Grant Wilkinson, he too fell into my hands. The ex-Army Ranger was badly disfigured and saw himself as a monster. Isolated by secrets, solitary and self-contained, his colleagues affectionately named him ‘Frosty.’ Yet, how should one behave when besieged by a lifetime of confusion and guilt?
The moment I saw him, I thought of her and I wondered. The eyes, they cannot always see clearly. And the heart? Ah, the heart can only guess at the truth. So it was that I remained uncertain.
Could the mouse and the monster heal each other?
Behind a backdrop of secrets, scandal, and murder, the ABUSE trilogy (Abuse, Accuse, Avenge) is a realistic journey full of healing, twists, turns and surprises.
MY BOOKS in the order I wrote them: Elizabeth Bondage* Bound and Freed* Carmen's NY Romance* Amy's Forbidden Fantasy* Karma What Wendy Wants Fate Kink* (Fate #2) Promises to Keep Abuse Trilogy Accuse (Abuse #2) Avenge (Abuse #3) Demon Blessed
André (the sexy sex counsellor) is 36 years old in the above books. In ABUSE he is 26 (to 28).The stars* mean heavy BDSM. André is in all of my books except "What Wendy Wants," "Promises to Keep," and "Demon Blessed."

An avalanche of strong emotions fills my heart after reading this Trilogy.... I'm not afraid to say....I suffered at the hands of abuse.
This series has taken me through the labyrinth of MY MIND where dust and cobwebs have been in residence in the remotest part of my mind for a very, very, long time.
If I could broaden the definitions of words like “experience” and “journey” so that they properly conveyed the high levels of emotions, discomfort, understanding and ultimate safety I felt when reading this, well then I would use them. Nikki's expertise in the subject matter, is EXCEPTIONAL.
This kind of letting go while reading a story only happens when writers put their heart and soul into their work, their characters, Nikki Sex should be very proud of this trilogy it is OUTSTANDING.
From the opening page this was ME.....
Right up to the very end....jaw droppingly in awe of the whole story of Grant Wilkinson, and Renata Koreman - sex therapist and tortured sole herself. In healing Grant, she was healing too. As they face the struggles of their pasts.
Well, what can I say...the star of the book for me was André Chevalier. I could have definitely hopped on the therapists couch for him what a EXTRAORDINARY character.....I loved the whole french accent thingy I had going on in my head. I loved he's exuberance, and the way he connected with the other characters was fascinating.
I have immensely enjoyed this series .....and would highly recommend it.......it has been therapeutic, Fascinating, Absorbing, Hard, Insightful and refreshingly different......I hope if you get to read it...... you enjoy, as much as much as I have!!
Part1️⃣ is about 'The Monster', Grant, the male MC. This part I loved. You really get into Grant's head and he really digs his way into your heart. Part2️⃣ is about Renata 'The Mouse', our female MC. While I loved most of this, the last few chapters in her part have repetition & I abhor repetition. Her story will also get to you. The last few chapters though cost this story a partial star due to my abhorrence of the repetition I mentioned above. It slows everything down. Up to that point the flow was great & moved beautifully. Part3️⃣ is about both Renata & Grant. Their interaction with each other. While I loved most of it, there is a lot more repetition and I did NOT like the way it ended. It felt ........ Contrived. Rushed. Awkward. I felt like there should have been another chapter and the whole conversation had an 'Unfinished' or 'Unrefined' quality to it.
The repetition and this last scene is what caused the most loss of stars.
This story is very 'Mentally' & emotionally weighty. It is compelling to say the least. While I would recommend it to my friends who love adult romance, I would be very careful to watch for triggers. There are a lot of them in this story. Do not go into reading this book lightly! I recommend you have a light, funny, fluffy story ready to read for when you are done with this. You will be 'Perplexed' (to steal a GR friends word), 'Disconcerted' and even 'Bewildered'. This story is 'VERY' complex. Psychologically Mind Bending.
It is definitely an adult read with intimate scenes. The subject matter and the triggers that this story deals with should not be in the hands of the immature. I will not put an age on that. This ends on a cliffhanger & I forgot about that before I started reading it. I HATE CLIFFHANGERS! I was going to wait a long time before I started reading the 2nd book in this 'Trilogy', but now that my brain has reset itself I have changed my mind. I will continue it in the near future. Don't say you haven't been warned. This book will Scramble your Brain.
📚Accuse Accuse by Nikki Sex Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Crime, Erotica, Mystery, Romance, Suspense 4.5 Stars
While I definitely recommend this trilogy, I also have a couple of problems with it.
It is actually longer than it needs to be. This is due to repetition of thoughts from both mc's. I also found some editing errors. Not many, and they are very minor.
The story itself, the message it tells is evocative. The main characters it portrays are vivid and feel authentic. You feel yourself connecting to them in many ways. They feel real.
The romance between Renata and Grant and their issues are the main focus of this book. The intimate scenes between them are scorching hot and erotic in a beautiful way. Sensual and loving.
While I am enjoying the trilogy, I wish there was more about the ongoing investigation. I don't want to say much about that element of the story since that could lead to a spoiler. I just wish that aspect of the story had more attention and information.
I will finish by saying I feel this 2nd book in the trilogy could have been 100 pages shorter and a faster pace. However! I enjoyed it and I am going straight into book 3 Avenge. There is just something about it that wont let me go. I have to finish it! It has me in its grip. I must finish this trilogy.
Oh, final note; I think Ms. Nikki Sex is a genius. And possibly a counselor in her secret life!!
Wow! Mr. Scarlato does a freaking AMAZING job of narrating this story!!! He did both male and female perfectly which can be a difficult task. On top of that, he does a remarkable job of Andre’s French voice. Even the chapter openers were done with consideration to the accents and tones of the person who was being quoted. The detailing of this narration was unlike any I have listened to before!
Abuse
Wow, this one has so much pain and heartache. I loved these characters and the connection they immediately feel for one another. Andre is definitely a keeper and I respected the heck out of the way he helped both Renata and Grant. So many secrets to be revealed and I can’t wait to continue on into Accuse.
Accuse
Renata and Grant grow closer as the story covers so many layers of psychological healing through connecting with another person. As a sexual surrogate, Renata helps to lead Grant to a place where he is able to open up through communication as well as sexually. There isn’t a lot to the backstory of being “accused” but some groundwork is laid. This has a lot of sex in it, but there is so much more to it as well. Obviously, this author has tremendous experience in the mental health care system or did an incredible job of researching the topic.
I am totally in love with both of these characters as they move through their past issues and push forward into the future. Cannot wait to learn what the “mystery” will eventually reveal.
Avenge
Holy wow! This one just blew me away as all the mysteries are revealed. The secrets run deeper than I ever expected! Grant and Renata learn to rely on each other as they move through the obstacles that arise. With Andre’s advice in the forefront of their minds, they both struggle to make decisions and changes that will help to alter their current life as well as their futures.
There is a ton of sex as Grant continues to work through some of his issues but I loved how Renata was always attuned to his needs. The secondary characters play a bigger role and were done in an exceptional manner, supporting the plotline and helping to move the story along.
I truly enjoyed everything about this book and this series.
While I own an ebook of this trilogy, I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Abuse was my first Nikki’s book and I’ve read many of her other books by now but the “Abuse” series is by far my favorite. It was not what I expected. It was better and different. I was prepared to read smut (well, with such a name as Nikki Sex what would you expect?) but it’s so much more as this story has so many layers. This series is not only a (very, very hot) love story involving abused victims and all the psychological aspects of abuse but its’ also more: it’s a thriller! It’s its own unique genre. Nikki Sex really went out of her “comfort zone” and she did it brilliantly. Respect!
The story is about Grant Wilkinson, ex-marine, alcoholic and haunted by demons of his past. He can’t have a normal relationship with a woman and sees sex as something “dirty”. Fed up with his fears and nightmares, he’ll seek counsel and meet André Chevalier. His therapy includes the help of a surrogate, Renata. Renata has had her share of trauma and has been rescued by André when she was a teenager. The connection between Renata and Grant will be instantaneous. Throughout the story, they’ll help heal each other while falling in love. It’s not the end of the plot as at the same time, we learn some shocking revelations about Grant’s father’s death. He’s been murdered and there is a killer on the loose. Who is it? There is even more to it as Grant’s abuse is not only what it seems and we guess there’s a bigger game.
I won’t say more about the plot and will rather expand on all the things I loved in this series.
I loved the writing, how Nikki always knows how to use the right word to describe something awful. She does not sugarcoat it she gives it plain and simple but always with the utmost respect for the abused victims. I’m in awe each and every time. She uses the right balance between erotic/dark/funny/enlightening and tender. The author writes about heavy subjects and does it in a deep insightful way. This book is a goldmine if you are interested in learning about abused victims and abusers. Not only does Nikki gives some facts about real “affairs” and statistics but she also describes how abused victims see themselves, the Hell they live in each day and how exhausting it can be to keep the pretense that “everything is fine, I’m normal”. Some cope with addiction (alcohol, drugs), some completely occult what happened to them and “forget” it until one day it comes back and their world explodes. She writes all about their many conflicting emotions, as taboo as they can be, like the love or feelings you can have for your abuser, the jealousy you can feel towards other kids abused by “your” abuser, as irrational as it can be, the guilt and the disgust… It was a roller coaster of emotions masterfully executed. The analysis is very intelligent and the use of a hot and charismatic therapist, André Chevalier, is very clever. I could nearly see him as the unconventional fairy godmother of a dark modern tale. And as Nikki says “André is like Catnip to women”…
Nikki also has deep reflections not only about abuse but also about life in general that make you really think and even reconsider your position in some matters. I love when a book pushes me to reconsider my position, my beliefs, even unsettling me because that’s how “real life “works.
I also love the humor, used to lighten what could be sometimes too serious. And the sex scenes are steamy hot!
You won’t find another Nikki Sex, she has her own touch and magic with such delicate/sensitive matters. Well done Nikki!
an enlightening series on a "taboo" topic, but don't worry it's worthwhile reading
Nikki has very cleverly created a plot that sees the main characters grow and develop for their own benefit and in doing so, create a better life for others as well. There are twists to the story that I honestly didn't guess and again I am impressed with the amount of care that was taken in presenting such a sensitive topic.
Forget fifty shades of grey... This should be turned into a movie. Andre’ once again features in this complex and oh so sexy story. He just adds to this heart wrenching story in his caring way. But lets not forget about our 2 main characters Grant and Renata. How could you not fall in love with these two. Each have a life story to tell and together they start to heal each other. This trilogy was around 1200 pages, and I do not read many of these as they are too long, however, I love this author and had plenty of time on my hands so I just dived in with no regrets. This author has a way with words, she is very talented and not shy on the steamy sex scenes ...OMG they can go for chapters at a time and you will not be bored. (Warning, there is a lot of sex here). Grant is a wounded ex army veteran with a ton of baggage and Renata is a sex surrogate who falls for Grant immediately, and by immediately I mean I Love You come out within a day! (Way, way too soon for me) but I had to get over it and keep going. This story deals with child abuse (but not very descriptive) more so the effects it has had on certain people. This is a must read for those who can handle the heat and subject matter. 4.5 stars.
Abuse: Nikki once again brings stunningly vivid characters to life immersing the reader into the world she creates and dragging our emotions out of us - willing or no!
Abuse introduces us to new characters while satisfying our Andre itch. This may well be my favourite Nikki Sex book as the new characters of Renata and Grant are rich with complexity and completely draw you in. This book was hard to put down!
There are some strong themes in this book (as the title suggests) which are handled brilliantly and with gentle sincerity. I was very impressed with Nikki's insight into mental health issues and found the treatment she gave to some difficult situations very enlightening and sensitive.
It's not often in this genre you find a book with such depth. If you are sick of the shallow crap the erotica genre often churns out - this book will certainly give you what you crave...
Accuse: As usual Nikki has outdone herself with the follow up to 'Abuse'.
The story is rich and complex with so many 'feels' that I was late back to work a few times after lunch! Couldn't put it down and found myself laughing and crying more than I should when reading in public. I had to once stop mid-chapter *gasp* as I got so teared up that I wouldn't have been any good at work!
Nikki's depth of understanding at the psychological issues facing abuse survivors and those with mental health issues is astonishing and real. This story is a must read for everyone to have an understanding of what it is to live with mental health issues and I guarantee the story will touch your heart.
Avenge: Nikki does it again with an insightful and captivating read! Avenge is the third in a series of intense and thought provoking erotic stories which draw you in and make you completely oblivious to the world about you!
You find yourself in conflict as to whether to sit down and soak it all in one sitting or pace yourself and let the pleasure last! I opted for the latter, but I'm masochistic that way! :P
If you like a smart read with colourful and deep characters, you won't regret a Nikki Sex book! Her insight into the human psyche is unbelievable!
Wow! This is one of those extremely rare gems that are not only entertaining, but can change the way you think and feel!!! I do not use these words lightly.
As I read these books, I felt things and saw things in totally new ways. Good ways. Helpful ways. There were shifts in my awareness that I'd needed for so very long.
As a survivor of childhood trauma, this series touched me especially deeply. I felt better about myself because of it... more accepting & understanding. This is significant.
I am one of a countless population. There are WAY too many of us; survivors of abuse. This set of books has forever changed the way I see and feel about my experience, about myself, my abuser and life. It was therapeutic but in such an exciting, passionate and pleasant way (though not always easy).
This series had many edge of my seat moments. It was an exciting ride - full of gasps, many OMG moments, sighs and lots of heavy breathing. It captured mt attention & wouldn't let it go. I didn't want to put it down.
I fell in love with the characters & rooted for them, wanting to learn more about them. I got to visit with my beloved Andre many times (yum!) and I had the pleasure of learning & growing alongside of my new friends.
There was a depth to the characters & a depth and complexity to this story that is rarely found in books. I rooted for them & genuinely cared about them. I laughed many times and cried a few, as well.
I never wanted to leave this world, yet it ended in such a satisfying way that I found myself at peace with it. Happy & sad at the end, in a such a lovely & profound way.
I highly recommend this trilogy to adults. Keep an open mind and you're guaranteed to come out better for having read it. ~Sensitive victims of abuse/trauma could be affected/triggered emotionally by some content.
This whole series is one you should read for yourself. Completely thought provoking and absorbing. It will leave you pondering so many things.
I’ve said it before, and will say it again… Nikki Sex knows how to write an intense, thought provoking and remarkable story.
This whole series is full of discovery of oneself, with lots sexy scenes that will leave you gasping, family revelations and so much more. Nikki has truly outdone herself with the connection these two characters share.
If you are looking for a series which is full of angst, lust, passion, confusion, frustration, love, hate, suspense, secrets and more. This will definitely keep you guessing right until the very end.
Nikki writes so impeccably. The flow of this story is perfect and the character build up is brilliant as the plot thickens and leaves you in suspense. Thought provoking, intense, sexy and brilliant.
Abuse This isn't the telling of a story, in as much as it's like watching the struggles of two people being guided by our beloved Andre' Chevalier....Renata Koreman, just a child really when she came to him, mostly broken from a childhood of neglet & abuse, both pysically and mentally. .When she was 13, she and her foster brother Jamie ran away together, they lived on the street and slept in cardboard boxes, ate from trash cans, to her it wasn't any different than living at home. She felt like she fit in with street people and felt "normal" for the first time in her life. She did enjoy sexual intimacy with many, she felt pleasure, affection and love. Jamie was her protector and best friend until one morning she woke to find Jamie dead beside her. Her Uncle Bob is called from a Psychiatric hospital about his niece , who will be 18 in three months, has been admitted. His friend , Doctor Jay Johson gave him Andre's name. He will pay any amount to be rid of her. He is running for office and can't have this embarrassment. She is now 22 years old, has a degree in Psycology and works as a Sexual Surrogate that recieves payment for her Therapeutic servies. She has has worked with many refered to her by Andre', but she wants someday to fall in love, have a home and children. The second person I refer to is Grant Wilkinson, an ex-Army Ranger. He is badly disfigured and saw himself as a monster. He also carries aorund a lifetime of secrets and guilt that makes him isolate himself He is also an alcoholic, as was his father who is now dead. Drunk, he fell to his death. ..He left the Army on his 28th birthday and sought out Andre' Chevalier five months later. He was highly recommended as one who helps people with deal with PTSD, stress and sexual problems.....Now, we know how smooth Andre' is and his talent for getting to the heart of the matter, and so , over the coming months, sessions comsist of everything from hiking to camping and Grant opens up with Andre's guidance and speaks of the games, the sexual abuse that went on at the hands of his own father. He speaks of the guilt & shame he feels for not protecting his younger brother when it started for him. His father committed the blackest of sins, but as a child, there was nothing he could do. After one such session, Grant felt mentally & physically beat, worn-out, but lighter somehow. Relieved, unburdened. Freed. In another session Andre' brings up women. He learns that Grant has no experiwnce with women, they make him nervous, He has only had sex that he has paid for. Never a relationship. Andre', says "Mon ami".. his dark eyes shine with enthusiasm. " This is most auspicious. Oui, oui, most auspicious. I have exactly the perfect woman for you" Now don't go thinking that this is a boy meets girl kind of thing, they fall in love and live happily ever after......Oh hell no! there is so much more going on between the lines here and people I haven't mentioned, on purpose. I never saw this coming, so you shouldn't either! There is so much more to come..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Accuse Chapter One picks up where "Abuse" left us. Renata and Grant are on the way to Dallas..... I will not go into the detail about the "therapy sessions", except to assure you that they are indeed earth shattering smexy. Andre' certainly knew what he was doing when he put the "little mouse" together with the "monster." It surely seems that as Renata helped Grant, she too learned some things.... but, it's not exactly happily ever after. Not by a long shot. Do you remember that frantic phone call Grant got from his mother? ( at the end of "Abuse") Well, they did exhumed Chester Wilkinson's body, and after testing, his death is now being called a murder, and guess who the prime suspect is? ... long buried secrets will come to light. this could be bad, very bad.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Avenge This third book of the series is what "ABUSE" & "ACCUSE" have been leading up to.... the romance between Grant Wilkinson and Renata Koreman has grown into everything Andre' Chevalier could have hoped for. When Grant came to Andre' (in need of therapy) he put "the monster together with the little mouse" in the hope that they would heal each other. Grant now believes he has the best of both worlds. It turnes out Renata, his sex therapist is also his soul mate. They compliment one another in all things, especially in the bedroom, or any room for that matter! They continue therapy in the most erotic ways.... but an adult that has been abused as a child has many obsticals that must be addressed before life can be anywhere near normal. If that abuse was sexual, even harder. If that sexual abuse was at the hand of someone the child should have been able to trust ...Well, I think you can see where this is going. We see the full depth, depravity, and lengths people will go to in order to keep their secrets. I'm talking about wealthy, well educated, and connected people, some in high places. People that can frame you for murder, or make your death look like a sucide. There are secrets within secrets covering up other secrets. No wonder these sex rings are so hard to take down. But at least for this story, our beloved Andre' Chevalier has come up with a plan. Why would Andre' do this you may ask? It seems our favorite frenchman has kept a little secret of his own....I was so enthralled by this whole Trilogy, but this last installment is not only an erotic romance, but a mystery/suspense/detective novel all rolled into one.
This series is a must read if you are looking for something more than your average romance. It has so many layers. And the feelings, good Lord, I was all over the place. Give Grant and Renata' s story a chance. I know you will love them as much as I did.
Grant- I just want to hug him, though I know that won't go over well. He's been through so much. I want to bundle him up and keep him safe.
Andre- Andre is very passionate, charismatic and also a complete enigma. I have a feeling everyone, I MEAN EVERYONE, falls in love with Andre. Our French therapist almost has an all seeing, all knowing quality about him. I think its impossible not to fall for him.
Renata- Little Mouse is a blooming flower now. She hasn't fully reached her potential. Shes just spreading her petals but even now you can tell she will be breath taking.
Nikki Sex has an incredible knack for a back story. All will be revealed and boy is it disturbing while endearing you to the characters. I may have originally been put off by the multiple POVs but they are necessary, no matter how seemingly random, to complete the full picture.
I'm hesitant to continue because I know things are about to be ugly in the present i stead of just the past but I need to know what happens.
Accuse- I was so afraid of Grant being accused that I never stopped to consider how I would react. This rollercoaster of joy, elatiin, and growth is shadowed by the trauma and wide reaching dark cloud that is Grant's father.
I can only cling to my hope like Grant that more facts will muddy the waters. Its safe to say Mr. Wilkinson deserved what he got and more...
I just hope our mouse and our monster get their happily ever after.
Avenge-
I feel Avenge(d). Nikki Sex gave me everything I wanted to wrap this series up. I am both happy and sad. I enjoyed how this all unraveled before my eyes.
Everyone who listened/read this book will feel it in the end. I was happy the way Nikki Sex made the world a better place in Avenge but so sad that it is only fiction. Imagine the impact that kind of legislation would have in the real world. (It brought tears to my eyes.)
Avenge is has its own superheroes. You've met most of them theough the course of this series but you aren't done yet. Andre will always be my favorite therapist and the glimpse you get of his story is enough to make any reader tear up.
So much good in this devastating story of Abuse...
I orginally had a hard time connecting to the characters but no longer. Renata, Andre, and Grant will always be friends I can look back on fondly. (My husband is a big fan of Renata! 😉)
Title: Abuse: The Complete Trilogy Author: Nikki Sex Forma: Audio Narrator: Roberto Scarlato Genre: Mystery, Erotica, Dark Standalone: The box set is Part of a Series: All three of three titles in the box set: Abuse, Accuse, Avenge POV: Multiple - but mostly Grant and Rensata Steam Level: Very hot at times 3.5/5
I'm of mixed opinion of this trilogy. One the hond it was written really well. The mystery kept me listening and it look me longer than normal to figure out who committed the opening murder. However, I was also a little bored - but not bored enough to stop listening. However I did up the speed to 1.5. I think what I liked the most was the way the author dealt with issues of adults working through child abuse. The ups and downs, blame, and triggers were spot on. Using therapists to work through all the self-loathing, self-destruction, and yet continued love for their abuser was a unique and fantastic way to work through these issues. Abuse: The Complete Trilogy takes the reader/listener on an epic journey toward healing, for which I applaud Nikki Sex. This could have been a way different story but putting the focus on the abused who are healing rather than the abuser or on the abuse at the time of abuse makes this trilogy much easier to listen to and also a much more positive position of taking control of your past and controlling you narrative and reactions to it.
I received this audiobook for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Wow!! This was an incredible story that addresses so many issues I couldn’t even begin to name. Let’s just say, I was totally intrigued and couldn’t put this book down. At times I felt it was a bit slow and redundant but at the same time I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. To me, because of all of the in depth details of the different types & stages of abuse, it felt real, although I’m not speaking through personal experience. But for reading/listening entertainment I felt it was a bit longer than it needed to be. Let’s talk narration, Roberto Scarlato had me absolutely mesmerized. He captured each character precise and with conviction. The accents for me, (while I’m not an expert) were amazing. I NEED Andre in my life. The erotic love scenes had me examining my own desires.
These three books will slowly pull on your heartstrings until they break.
Grant’s and Renata’s stories are so different but so much the same in the matter of childhood pain, not just physical and mental but on other levels too. It is a hard read at times but do not give up it is gut wrenching but do not give up. You will be angry and sad and feeling so many emotions that it will take you right into the book along side Grant, Renata and Andre. Do not give up on these books, yes at times I think she (Nikki Sex) is just so emotionally invested in her writing of the books that she herself is just overcome with her own emotions, fear, anger, sadness, pain and everything else that the writing becomes so real and powerful that you just have to finish the story. And I hope you do.
Holy crap!! This was definitely not what I was expecting, but in the best way. The first book starts out getting you emotionally invested on Grant & the abuse he's trying to recover from. He doesn't feel worthy of love or any connection with another being. His road to recovery is intense. I love how it goes around to different points of view as new characters are introduced. I feel like I learned so much about counseling from this book, very unexpected but loved it! The plot twists are so unexpected and the ending was absolutely fantastic. I've never been on the edge of my seat while reading a romance book. Well done!
This is the best series I’ve read in a very long time. Nikki has brought the characters to life and had me hooked from the beginning. This is about Grant, who was sexually abused by his father for many years, and is in therapy trying to learn how to cope with his past. Renata has been in therapy for many years trying to cope with her past with an abusive father. There is intrigue, conspiracy, love and everything else you could possibly want from a story. Everyone should read this series as it artfully deals with real issues that many have to deal with in life.
Wow. I started out reading Nikki Sex through her book Karma. I received book #1 for free and then immediately located the complete trilogy. This is a very edgy book and the subject matter (several areas) are very graphic. Child abuse, both violent and sexual, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, emotional issues, and broken people. Predators and power struggles. Andre, a very caring and creative counsellor works with Grant and Renata. Wounded people who find each other, help each other and, to an extent, those around them. Throughout the books, ripples of current life can be found. The trilogy tells the complete story, a compelling story. Bravo !!
I picked up this set of books on a whim, not even really reading the blurb for it - I tend to lean more toward the dark romance/BDSM written books, so figured this would be right up my street. How right I was!
These books touch on the very sensitive topic of childhood abuse/sexual abuse and incest. Having read many, many books, I will say that I found these books riveting and totally engaging! The characters are some which you will fall completely in love with, and some you will hate to the deepest reaches of your soul!
I think these books are both amazing for anyone who has suffered in their past, and also amazing for those who possibly KNOW someone who has. Extremely well written - I'm running through the list of her other books now to read!x
I usually do not read books that may cause me to be depressed such as the subject of abuse. It is such a disturbing subject. However, this book was filled with such positive quotes and observations of opportunities to grow that it was worth every chapter. And of course, who doesn’t like the character André Chevalier! I am left with the unanswered question of what is next with Andre Chevalier and his quest and his personal story. Please, if someone knows what book I need to read next, let me know.
I'm giving this a low rating because I stopped at 31 percent. I couldn't read anymore. I don't know that much about surrogates, but the way Mark was handled just didn't seem right. In other words I don't think a surrogate would act that way. Anyway, I continued to read further and just couldn't get into it. Maybe I was expecting something different. This is just my opinion.
I've read this author's work before and I think this trilogy is the best damn series of novels she's ever written! I feel thoroughly psychologically therapeutic and emotionally and overwhelmed from reading this wonderful book. The characters, backstories, mystery and intensity of the complete novel is astounding revealing and cathartic. The author wrote this novel in a way that you're completely satisfied with the conclusion, yet if there were more you'd be salivating to keep reading.
So much more than I expected! This is a deep, thoroughly researched, eye-opening and heart-wrenching foray into the world of child abuse. This talented writer brought me to tears more than once with the cleverly crafted descriptions of personal torment and deep-seated betrayal on innocent lives. Thank you, Ms. Sykes, for the happy end redemption, we should never lose hope that the good will triumph... for it would be unbearable.
I don’t know what I was expecting when I first bought this trilogy. But wow, what I got was beyond my imagination. Sadly, so much of this story rings true. Probably is true. Just the names have been changed. Well written, with all the feels. It’s a story I won’t soon forget. It has many tiggers, in the story and will be for probably a majority of readers. Be aware.
What an incredible story! This is a finely crafted story with unforgettable characters that have depth and are realistic. This story is spellbinding and while it focuses on uncomfortable and taboo subjects, I found the story riveting. This is the first book I have read by this author and now I want to read more. I highly recommend this one!!
I could not put this book down. It made me laugh and cry. I loved the plot, all of the characters, and the way it ends. If you are planning to read this book, I would suggest that you make sure that you have time and that you get the Complete Trilogy. It really was a wonderful well written book.
