Mission Impawsible

September 23, 2025Update: I originally gave this one star but was dealing with the pain of post op surgery, so that may have been where my mind was and the escapism of a book didn't work. Gonna remove the star, that wasn't fair.
Completed this novella as part of a reading challenge and wanted a cute short story to read/listen to without committing to a series. The narrator did fine. However, I shouldn't have read this as a standalone, even though it can be. That's on me, but I probably won't get into the first book of the series. We'll see. This story had some humor, banter, drama, witches, and werebear shifters. I just wasn't into it.

Kelly needs help from her friends to keep her boyfriend from remaining in his shifted shape. It was a fun read but would have been better had I read the first book in the series first.

I enjoyed all of these books by Melanie. Even this novella has been a fun read. It's good to get a feel for the other characters in this series.

I enjoyed the first book in the series enough to gives this book ago even though it contained bad language and sex scenes (which normal put me off) but I have to say I liked this book a lot more despite it being a shorter listen. I liked the characters a lot more in this book as they weren't so catty and the friendly banter or competition worked well, they are also a very quirky and unique group. I liked how the story unfolded and found myself grinning along with the antics of the characters. I will be looking to get the next book.

The problem is the mistake happens were she runs to and a group of wearbears that have been unable to shift back into human form for years suddenly appear in the centre of town. Her boy friend a bear shifter himself rushes to there aid only to get caught up in the trouble himself. Kelly calls for help from the rest of the Karma Inc team, can they undo the spell and save all the bears? Especially Gabe, her boyfriend?
I like the narrator she does a good job with the voices and her sassy voice and timing is right for the Karma Inc team. I love the accent she gives Gertie, it makes her character very memorable.

Spelltastic
Sometimes the bumblers make things right. Take one very newbie witch and have her accidently activate a spell, one she knows nothing about and then have her run to her new beau to hide. Crazy spell, a cast of characters, some bumbling, some just crazy, and fate stepping in to correct a wrong, that wraps up this story.

In this novella we are treated to Some more magical mischief from the Karma inc. files.
An accidental spell puts Kelly in the centre of a centuries old curse. I really like the humour and banter between the characters in this series, it’s an enjoyable and entertaining story and the narrator is easy to listen to.

Bearings
Excellent well written story! Karma can be a bitch and some people are about to experience it. Yes, there is humor and romance between Gabe and Kelly. Where witches are involved their is humor and sometimes things go wrong. Read and enjoy this interesting book!

A fun caper
Yet another light hearted and charmingly sweet paranormal story. There are puns aplenty, with witchy mishaps and romantic interludes, this was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

I am just loving this series. It is so unique in the witch/shifter world and so fun to see the mistakes and how it all comes to an end afterwards. Such a fun book!

Kelly and her brother decide to attempt something daring. An accident makes them trigger a spell that frees a cursed bear clan from several centuries before. With the help of her were-bear boyfriend and a few friends, she finds a way to figure out what she did and how to fix it.
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't realize until it was too late that this was the second book in the Karma Inc. Files. I am familiar with The Literal Leigh series so I was familiar with all the characters. It's a very funny book. It has some steamy and sexy parts as well. It enhances the story. I love how the author really just brings a reader into every single part of the story.
I just adore all of the characters! My favorite two are Kelly and Randy. They are just such a sarcastic riot! Gertie is pretty amazing as well. She's just so adorably gullible. I just wish that some of the characters that are in the main series were in this book. I get why they weren't though.
Hollie Jackson was made to narrate this book. I fully believe she was made for the entire series. I think that's why she's one of my favorite narrators of all time. She really sucks you into a story and makes characters' personalities just pop in the best way possible! I really want to get my hands on all of the audiobooks she's ever narrated. I may meet a new author or two that way!

Kelly and her man bear shifter Gabe are in a huge pickle in this story. Of course, witchcraft plays a part and it is never good.
Gabe is a shifter but no one in town knows. But all things may come out as a few more bear shifters are in town and a crazy doctor may break the secret.

I loved Mission Impawsible! While it is a stand alone book, it takes off where Karma, Inc., left off and follows Kelly, Gabe, and their friends as magical mayhem ensues. Funny and fun! A must read for fans of the genre.

What happens when a newbie witch and her idiot brother decide they are as good as witches with centuries of experience? Chaos and comedy.
I have only been a fan of Ms. James for two years and her writing never fails to entertain me and provide needed comic relief. Her writing is crisp with just a touch of insanity.

"Mission Impawsible: A Karma Inc. Novella" by Melanie James is a fun and quick read. Kelly can't seem to get the witch thing down without it backfiring on her. When Randy wants to try a spell out of their book, Kelly accidentally casts one that is written in Ancient French before ruining their book forever. Overall, I enjoyed reading this novella and look forward to reading more of Karma Inc. stories.

Mission Impawsible (Karma Inc. Files #2) by Melanie James has our friend Kelly accidentally performing a spell and becoming terrified she is headed back to the Special Inquiry Board for Misconduct.
So she calls in sick, packs her chihuahua's and witch cat, and drives back to Caldron Falls to tell her Bear-shifter almost boyfriend good-bye.
The misadventures get funnier from there. A definite must-read.

This is my review for Mission Impawsible by author Melanie James.
Kelly is still new at being a witch and when she accidentally does a spell it has consequences for the witch. Now Kelly and her friends try to right the spell with out causing more problems.
This has great characters, lots of laughs, romance, and intrigue all rolled into 1 great novella by the author.

Here we follow Kelly and Gabe into some magical mischief and of course mayhem.... we meet some new players and see old friends....Deal with a few surprises, with a curse thrown in for good measure......I jsut laughed, giggled and snorted my way through this lastest adventure. Truly entertaining

I read this as part of the Spell of the Ball short story collection. The plot and characters were just too ridiculous for me to enjoy. I almost didn't finish it. I did like that it featured a different paranormal being, were-bears, than is normally found in the paranormal genre.
