AMAZON BESTSELLING SERIES! Charley Rabbit is a mentally disabled young man who lives quietly with his widowed mother Mitzi in the American Midwest-but not for long! Charley develops a rapid intellectual growth spurt after being bitten by a vampire. Fressenda and her fraternal twin brothers Cass (Castor) and Lux (Pollux) take an interest in Charley and Mitzi and become part of their extended family, but Mitzi is wary and senses that the changes in Charley may be part of something mysterious, dark and sinister. In the meantime she is offered something she didn't believe was possible-a clandestine relationship with a younger , and incidentally immortal, male. The ensuing connection that Charley and his mom develop with V-net vampires (,a brilliantly organized organization that has piggybacked on the existing infrastructure in the U.S), an ancient family history and a dangerous and wily adversary, the Vampire Lord Adrastos puts both their lives and their new relationships at risk and takes them to some of the most remote locales on the planet.
FREE on Kindle Unlimited A good read, if a little slow in parts. Definitely something a bit different with well defined characters with a great and creative story line. This novel has an inventiveness that I haven't found in any other paranormal series and that's certainly one of its special qualities.
It's always good when you get a vampire story that is a little different to all the others, considering how often vamps are written about. But this one is not the norm and it's quite enjoyable
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author, reading the book blurb I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised.
In this book you get a bit of everything, adventure, romance, twists, dark characthers and fun lovable characthers too!
If you check the blurb it mentions a mentally disabled man, Charlie Rabbit if honest I wasn't sure how that would work in a vampire story but it did, I was concerned how they would deal with the issues, Charlie goes through changes and I felt it worked really well and dealt with the issues surrounding that in a good way.
On to Mitzi, I really liked Charlie's mum, she's very strong, let's face it having a disabled son she would have to be. Life is not easy for her and she is tired, so when she meets some new people who offer her some support she gratefully accepts. Soon she notices changes in Charlie, all positive but she's shocked and scared in more than one way.
Soon Mitzi is made aware of her new friends vampire lifestyle and so ensues an adventure and a half, lots of twists, some great characthers, you'll love fress and the twins.
As mentioned there is romance in this book, but it's not detailed sexual scenes. To be honest I didn't miss the sex as was so much else going on, it's a real page turner.
I'd recommend this to pnr and fantasy fans and people that fancy a change.
I'll be sure to read book 2 to see where the story goes from here.
This fast paced modern urban fantasy takes the reader on a speeding locomotive of a ride through the lives of modern day vampires as well as to some of the most remote and exotic locales on the planet. The Main characters,Charley and his mother Mitzi, and the original vampires they meet,(Fressenda, Cass and Lux) are interesting and likable characters that you will be drawn to and care about. Clandestine romance and danger abound as the vamps take on an old adversary, Adrastos, bent on making Mitzi his mate for life. There are many surprises, unexpected twists and turns. An exciting read!
This was a fantastic vampire tale with vampires that are different from the norm. The differences to typical vampire mythos makes them stand out and easily remembered. The first half of the book explores the characters, their interactions, and their personal stories. This makes the characters come alive, and it gets you invested in what's happening with them. These life like characters are so well written, that when the action starts you're in fear for them, in awe of them, and stuck on every word to see what happens to them. Great characters are the backbone of any story, and this one has a steel backbone.
The prose in the novel flows at a wonderful pace. It's slowed down in the areas it should be slowed down and jumps to a frenetic pace when it needs to be. It makes the reading of the story an absolute pleasure as nothing feels bogged down or too rushed.
The story itself is fantastic. It was almost impossible to put down, as I wanted to know what happened next and didn't want to wait.
From start to finish, this was an amazing piece, and I can't wait to get to the next book in the series.
1114 A.D. and present time, how in the world could they possibly fit together? And how can the past connect to present and still be living? Vampires never die! Especially if one hell bent Vampire is waiting and looking for his long lost love, Parmitsvia. I love how the Author brings both worlds together, side by side, with a fight to win. Charlie Rabbit and his Mom, Mitzi, are just an American Single Parent Family. Parmitsvia and her husband Tancre`de de Pommeville of 1114A.D, are just an wealthy French Family. Both families have something in them that makes them different, but at the same time alike. Charlie has brain damage and will never be normal. Mitzi a widow, is very devoted to her son. Parmitsvia, hates her husband and wants to be with Adrastos, a Vampire. Neither get what they want in life the way they thought they would. Until three Vampires come into play and becomes friends and first bite to two of them. Then something unexpected happens to bring all of them together in a sense. I love how the Author starts out in the past to give you a background of Parmitsvia, so later on you know how she fits in to the storyline. You will be very surprised how she is connected to present day. Charlie has brain damage and never will be right, or so you think or maybe not. His Vampire friends have other ideas for him. Good or Bad? You will have to see. It's nice to see a disability put into a story and worked with through out the story. Vampires can be fun to read, but this story had me on the edge of my seat wondering if it would all work out. It is full of surprises, suspense, love, friendship and family. It was hard to write this review, for not to give away any good parts or the storyline. The Author did a great job with this story and all the surprises and twists and turns, to keep you wanting more. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next book.
Charley Rabbit is a mentally disabled man in his twenties. His Mother Mitzi Rabbit is his ever loving caregiver as Charley is not able to care for himself. Charley and Mother go to a Renaissance Festival where they meet a nice group of people who seem to be nice. They introduce themselves to Mitzi and show Charley around the festival. Mitzi is unsure of the three, twin young men and a young lady, but let's Charley hang out with the twins. After that day; things would never be the same. There was a secret that three strangers turn friends kept from Mitzi. That secret was they were Vampires, but not the kind of Vampires you might be thinking of. There is no "Edward Cullen" or Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise with Interview with A Vampire in this book, but what there is will make you glad you decided to read this book. This group of Vampires is a well thought out and planned group of people that live by rules and order. There is Evil as there usually is. It is the age old good vs evil as far as the plot goes, but who will come out the winner? If you like Vampires, fighting for what you believe in, and sex (it is not a porno kind of book!). Then like me you will love World of Azglen!
If I could give this author ten stars I would do it for her writing style alone!!!! This author can WRITE and she writes incredibly well!! Because I read this incredible paranormal story, I am now one of P. Mattern's biggest fans! Incredible writing! Creative, funny, serious ... you'll find it all in this written journey of love, the paranormal, humor, sexiness and oh so steamy!! While I was still reading chapter one - just chapter one - I had to share with the author how much I LOVED her writing!! This is well worth the read and for those of us who love the musical lilt of words, P. Mattern sets an extremely high bar for her other books. Aside from that, her creative storytelling ability is not without its own praise. This story was FUN, emotional, loving, and mysterious. I highly, highly, highly recommend you read a book that will leave you feeling like you're floating on a breeze of peace as her words flow so smoothly.
The only recommendation I have is for a little more proofreading for commas, quotation marks, etc, but, the rest is so well done that the grammatical errors are just a tiny dot on an otherwise perfect story.
One event, where a mentally disabled young man who lives with his mother meets some unlikely friends, changes everything forever. With new found strength and rapidly improving mental growth, Charley’s mother becomes suspicious. One bite brings a new life, with a whole new set of challenges, laid in the path before them and nothing will ever be the same.
There were a few places where I think the flow could have been better, but there is no doubt that this is a good read. Also, a little less focus on Charley’s mom would not have been such a bad thing either. However, I adored where the story starts and the unconditional love Mitzi has for her son.
World of Azglen is different and interesting. I held off on my review of the first book, letting the story simmer while I found time for the next in the series, wondering if series was going to keep my attention. It was such a silly thing to do because it’s a great series.
Thanks to the author who gifted me this series .... The first half of the book I thought was a little slow and nothing much was happening. While reading I kept thinking I wish something exciting would happen or at least some action but it didn't. The 2nd half of the book however I really enjoyed as I got the excitement and action that I craved from the beginning. My favourite characters has to be the twins as they are funny and when they argue like typical siblings it's even more comical. I do believe Adrastos should of come into the story much sooner but that's just my opinion. There were a few grammatical errors here and there which can be annoying but despite that I still enjoyed the book overall.
Also titled “World of Azglen Book 1: Full Moon (Full Moon Series)
I enjoyed this paranormal adventure. It was a fast paced easy read. This book was very light on the sex, but in a good way, which makes it a book I would allow any of my teenage nieces to read. Even though I prefer a lot of steam to my books, I found I couldn’t put it down. The author expertly keeps your attention caught and your curiosity wetted so that you just have to see what happens next. You can’t help but root for Charlie, Mitzi, Fress, Lux, Cass, and Byron. They band together in friendship, family, and love.
Absolutely loved it!!!! This book hooked me in from the moment I started reading it. The character development is fantastic. The storyline is amazing and the twists / surprises ... Charley Rabbit and his mom live alone and are the only family they have, Charley has some problems and isn't very intelligent, that is until him and his mom meet up with Fressendra, Cass and Lux. Things change drastically and the reader finds a supernatural story of vampires, dhampir's and more. When Charley's mom is taken the adventure really begins and the reader is in for a great read. Well done story and great characters.

I was a little reluctant when I first started to read this book but that quickly changed. There was so much going on throughout the whole book. It was uniquely and creatively written. It was dark and light all rolled into one fantastic read.
This book is a roller coaster of emotions. Talk about a head rush. It has love, family loyalty. If you need an escape from your everyday life you have to read the World of Azglen!!!!!
*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review*
I loved the beginning of this story. It starts out with Mitzi and her mentally disabled son Charley going to a Renaissance Faire. There they meet three of the workers, Fressenda, Cass, and Lux. They offer to take Charley off Mitzi’s hands for a few hours just so she can have a free afternoon to herself. After some persuading she agrees and they meet back up later that night explaining how much fun they all had. However, over the next few days, Charley seems to be acting different. His intellect is getting stronger by the day, and he seems to go from a mentally disabled person to a person of genius intelligence. After finding and confronting Charley’s three new friends, they tell Mitzi that they are vampires and have bitten Charley, and that’s why he is the way he is. He’s not a full vampire yet, because a person has to get bitten three times to become a full-fledged vampire, he just has some of the perks. Mitzi has some empty nest feelings because even though Charley is still there, she’s not needed like she used to be. She thinks about and misses her ex-husband, who recently passed away, and remembers how they both love pistachio ice cream, so she goes to the store for a quick treat. While leaving, a mysterious person stops her and the next thing she realizes, she’s in her car with melted ice cream and no memory of what recently transpired. The gang figure out it was a vampire and the person bit Mitzi so now she is changing just like Charley did.
There were some parts in the middle where it seemed to drag a little but overall it was a very enjoyable read. This was written by three people and in some parts it shows. There were some parts that I felt weren’t needed or didn’t come off that well to me. About halfway through, Mitzi has a new lover and it was very obvious who it was. They never said the person’s name until the very end and it was a little annoying because it went on too long with, “her lover did this” “her lover said that” “her new lover…” and I just kept thinking, “I know who her lover is, just say his name.” The villain of the story was very well done. He is a total bad guy in: he thinks what he is doing is right, but he does things in such horrific ways. He thinks he can bully and beat others into believing he is right too. There were a lot of hits in this and a few misses but overall I did like it and I read this very quickly.

First the pros: The author has a unique take on vampirism, unlike any paranormal book I've read. One of the author's lead characters is brain damaged from birth. That was interesting and unusual. She also seems to have a very good vocabulary. I had to use the online dictionary several times to look up words, but I don't mind that one bit as I was able to find definitions for all of them. Some descriptive phrases she writes very well and her scene descriptions invoke a good mental image without being too wordy.
One reviewer called the prologue boring but it's critical to the story and should be read. Yes, the story moves slowly at first, but does pick up quite a bit on the second half. There are some mysteries in the book that do get resolved, adding to the intrigue.
Cons: Am I the only person who is bothered by the poor editing? I've read several reviews and no one mentions it. There are dozens of words with no spacing between them, single apostrophes that don't fit as punctuation, characters that appear with no explanation, and some inconsistencies with numbers and comments. For instance something is said to be one way, yet was another way a just few pages previous, like the author forgot what she wrote. A decent editor or sharp-eyed advance readers would have helped tremendously with these issues that almost caused me to quit reading. Also, while not ending in a cliff hanger, the story ends suddenly at a rather big moment. I kept trying to turn the page, expecting more but it Just. Suddenly. Ended. Fortunately this series is on Kindle Unlimited so it's possible to easily see where the final scene goes in the next book. I'm really surprised that n one else mentioned these inconsistencies.
Loved how it flowed. I understood the changes that happened as for how the vampires came to be. I was really intrigued with the idea that it wasn't just a one bite kind of deal.
Mitzi was a person who thrived on caring for her different-ability son Charlie. He was in his 30's but existed in a much younger mind. Going out and doing things together could be a challenge but it never stopped Mitzi. During one of these outings Mitzi and Charlie befriended three people, Fress, Cass, and Lux. Her world instantly changed.
This is the greatest introduction into the World of Vampires I have ever read. P. Mattern has given insight in a revelant world of Vampires, by diving deep into their history. She weaves in characters you can relate to and get lost in the most enchanting of tales and modern Vampire love stories. A story that is love at first fang for everyone!!!
Full moon was an enchanting read. Made me really think about the sacrifices parents of children with disabilities make. Charlie has a great mom, mitzi has lived her life to make sure Charlie is well taken care of, when a twist of Faith gives both of them a second chance.
I will admit that I wasn't too sure what to think when I first got the boo, but once I began reading I was sucked into the lives of Charley and his mother, Mitzi. I can't wait to see what happens with Dress, Cass and everyone else!
Simply put....read this book!!! Charley & his family will steal your heart..make you cry..make you hold your breath with anticipation and excitement...and want for more!! I can't wait to see what happens next!
This is a fresh new take on vampires and how they live. Amazing descriptions and even better action involved. I was stumped, which hardly ever happens. Love this. Can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series sitting in my kindle waiting for me.
