Four years ago, I thought my life was pretty normal for a teenager. Three years ago, my world was shattered, and now I’m just trying to hold the pieces together. But regret and anger aren’t so easy to ignore.

I just need to catch my breath … For it all to go away …

I thought I might finally be ready to move on from that horrible night, but then he decided to come back.

Whatever It Takes is book one in the Nothing But Trouble series by Lindsey Pogue. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by the author.

One second is all it takes to forever change the course of your life. This was a lesson Samantha wished she had never learned. They were decisions she had made that led her to this point. It was all her fault.

Sam and Josh Reilly had been in love. But Josh had to get out of Saratoga Falls. He couldn’t stay. So he

Life growing up wasn’t easy for Sam, sure she had a loving father and lived in a world she loved, until her widowed father found love again and well, two is company, and three is a crowd. Sam also thought she had found the love of her life, someone to trust in, believe in and give herself to, but he needed to get away, and the military was his escape. But nothing could shred her soul more than the night she lost her father in the accident she survived and the daily dose of guilt and sense of los ...more

This book CAPTIVATED ME. I don't know if there is a particular moment in this book that left me feeling this way or whether the whole book overall caught me like this but let me say, this is a story you don't want to miss out on. WOAH. This book gave me all the feels. I love it when this happens because it really makes you feel more connected with the story and the characters. Even more, the characters came off as so realistic. The trouble they face, the flaws that

Amazing story! Filled with romance, laughter e, mostly, the importance of second chances and the constant search for happiness.
Beautiful book. I receive this one via the website Instafreebia. I did not know the author e this was my first by her. I was also lucky to be able to get the second book on the series also for free on this website.

This is a light and cool read. Great story, I found myself smiling a lot while reading, and the finale was great, it gave me so much

When I hear or see the words 'Don't judge a book by a cover' I know this should apply to me, because I absolutely do judge a book cover. That's not to say that I still don't buy the book but if it's got a nasty taste of cheese then I am sort of put off by it.
I found this book in an email and I was struck by the way it reminded me of the 90's, of those days when it was acceptable to bugger off down the lane, lay in a field and watch the clouds. I suppose you could do it now, but the 90's seemed

Ugh. There’s just something about an awesome YA/NA romance!!!!!
This book brings to mind my absolute favorite YA/NA stories – anything by Colleen Hoover, Bully from Penelope Douglas, Wild Reckless from Ginger Scott, Love Always, Kate by Nichole D. King, Righteous by Kim Lehman, and the list goes on….

The story totally captured my attention. I just loved it to pieces. If you liked any one of the books from the laundry list above, I suggest you pick this one up ASAP.

And, I totally love

I confess that second chance romances are my favourite kinds of story. I love the journey characters travel to overcome hardships that force them apart. Whatever It Takes (#1 in the ‘Nothing but Trouble’ series) is a sweet and heart-warming second chance romance that will remind you to live each and every day to its fullest.

The story centres on the relationship between Sam and Josh Reilly. At seventeen Sam is in love with ‘Reilly’. He is her best friend, lover and future everything. But, like a

**AUTHOR'S REVIEW** This story isn't magical or wrapped in a package with a pretty bow. It's more real to life than anything I've written in the past. While there are some darker themes, there is also light, laughter, and love sprinkled throughout because that's what life is, right? Life is hard and I wanted this story--no, this series--to reflect that. This story has changed a lot over the years (I initially wrote it in high school, though it's changed drastically since), but the essence has al ...more

Sam has been isolated since the night her life fell apart 4 years ago. She works hard to keep her father's ranch running, avoids her emotionally unavailable stepmom, puts up a happy front with her two best friends, but on the inside is an emotional wreck who uses pain as an outlet. When Reilly comes home to sell his father's wreck of a home, he and Sam have so much history that has never been resolved. The question is if their feelings are strong enough to overcome the demons.

I read The Ending Series that "The Lindsey's" (Lindsey Fairleigh and Lindsey Pogue) collaborated on. Totally fell in love with the series, but had never read anything by either lady as a solo author. When the opportunity came up to read a book by Lindsey Pogue I jumped at the chance, but wasn't sure what to expect. She is a fantastic writer, extremely talented. Whatever It Takes is a beautiful book about second chances. Set on a horse ranch in small Saratoga Falls, Lindsey perfectly creates a re ...more

Four years ago, Reilly joined the army to escape his abusive father. His only regret is that he had to leave Sam behind after only just starting their relationship. A year later, Reilly returns for an unexpected visit, which indirectly results in Sam's father dying in a car crash. Sam blames herself for her father's death, and so does her step-mother Allison. Now, wracked by guilt, Sam struggles to keep their horse ranch afloat, with the help of her cousin Nick. When Reilly returns home to sell ...more

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Whatever It Takes is the first contemporary new adult romance I’ve read by Lindsey Pogue, but certainly not the first book of hers I’ve delved into. I wasn’t initially sure how I was going to feel about a change of genres from the author because some authors simply don’t write well in several genres, so while excited to read another book by a favorite author of mine, I went into this book with a he

I want to thank the author for allowing me to read this book. I fully enjoyed it.

What Ever It Takes is a nice light romantic read, following Sam and Riley.
Sam is a woman with a scarred heart. After her father's death, she blamed herself for the wrongs in her life. Not able to handle the guilt and constant blame from her stepmother, Sam took her own means of punishment, even if it was painful. Trying the best she can to keep the family ranch going with her stepmother as well as trying to avoid he

Loved it but not knowing what either were going to do was very angst for me. HEA. Well written character's well developed and likable or not. "Story— bittersweet past and hopeful beginning to a brighter future together. Growing up, falling in love, and hard lessons learned in life that aren’t always in our control—real life ways of dealing with things that often go unspoken. How broken we can get." paraphrase of author's description. Not having an adult to guide and support but actually making l ...more

This review is criminally late, but I promise that is not a reflection of the captivating story told in Whatever it Takes.

This second chance new adult romance is as always beautifully written by Lindsey Pogue, messy and complicated in the way real life is, and enthralling, the way true love is. Sam isn't perfect, and is perfect because of that; in fact sometimes she frustrated me to no end and I realized it was because I liked her and wanted her to ma

This book caught my attention first with what the cover. The picture of the girl laying on her back with her hands over her face I think it's an old cover. But that is why I got this book.

I'mvery happy I did because this story was great. Once I started I had to keep reading. I felt Sam's pain all through the book. I wanted to know what was going to happen next, was anyone going to be able to help her? Then enter Josh Reilly. He made this story even better. I loved Mac and Nick and the family-fri

Not Light or Breezy
This is a realistic romance filled with flawed characters making poor decisions. The story has a good plot and is well written. Many parts are painful to read. One character deals with her emotional pain with physical pain (cutting), which may be a trigger to some readers and should have been left out of the story entirely. It is definitely haunting. I received this book for free and voluntarily chose to post my honest review.

I’m not usually a fan of YA but this story was beautifully written. The descriptions of the physical reactions in particular, *showing* rather than telling the gut-wrenching emotions was masterful. The wild swings from depression to euphoria were almost hard to keep up with, but so like a young adult. I didn’t want to put it down and even found myself in tears in a couple places. Very impressed.

Young adult story. Life is complicated. Very good characters. Good story.
Rose Maniscalco
This story was not bad, but it didn't grab me in either . It was well written and it flowed, I just didn't get invested in the characters.

Things moved very quickly and there was pretty low angst and drama. A lot of sex scenes and they really didn't add much to the story so I skipped most of them as they were mostly the same.

Unhappy at home, teenaged Samantha is needy, and in her need she makes myopic decisions that lead to regret and remorse. Her intolerance for delayed gratification is pretty typical for a teenager. She is not the only unhappy person in the small town of Saratoga Falls. Her friends Nick and Mac have broken families. Her one-time boyfriend’s, Josh Reilly, struggles to survive his alcoholic, abusive father leads him to abandon hope of college in favor for a life in the military.
