Review: Really Woolly 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury by Bonnie Rickner Jensen The five minutes bedtime Treasury is a great book to read to children. Parents can read a story to their children and bond and teach about god to them before bedtime. I know that it got several chapters if you want to look at it. The stories tell you how god created you and the world. It also talks about how good makes you his more important to him. There are stories there for you to read and it seems to rhyme. Make the children able to understand. They may be poems or not but it a nice way to read them. It one way to show your child or children how god loves them and how important they are in this world.
My family and I love to collect storybooks. We use these books for bedtime stories and they last a long time. This book is different than other storybooks we have read, as this one focuses solely on attributes of HaShem. Additionally, this book is not a storybook, despite what my expectations were. There are Bible verses, which focus primarily on a Christian theology, questions to ask readers, and a short poetic stanza regarding the theme, such as “pray every day.” The artwork is simple and family-friendly, focusing on lambs.
The book includes a bookmark built into the spine, which most storybooks we read simply lack (and should have!). I believe that most Christian families would enjoy this work and use it for simple themes or conversations, but it is clearly not a storybook, and while it could be beneficial for spiritual moments and biblical education with my children, it lacks what we require from it to be part of our bedtime routine.
Overall, this is a quality book, and the cover is padded to be softer, which seems to be a marketing decision more than a safety decision (given that the corners are still stiff and strong, which could injure much younger children). This book does live up to its title, however, keeping each day’s reading and interaction at a concise five minutes.
Disclosure: I have received a reviewer copy and/or payment in exchange for an honest review of the product mentioned in this post.
This children’s book is perfect for children from about 2-7 years old. Each section of reading include a little story introduction to the topic for the night, then a couple poems to delve deeper into the subject and then a prayer at the end that relates to the topic. Each section is a different topic to cover that night. This is a wonderful way to teach your kids about God and get them learning at a very early age.
This storybook gives very clear and understandable messages to the children. I loved the illustrations in this book! They are absolutely adorable. All the characters in the book are the adorable animals kids enjoy looking at.
The quality of this book is wonderful. The front cover is cushioned making it great for little hands, the binding is fantastic, and it’s strung through as opposed to the glue that is sometimes used. There is also the ribbon bookmark that I really think makes it more special.
I would recommend this book to any parent looking for a good way to incorporate God into their nightly routine, or even looking to start a nightly routine. This would also make a great gift for little ones. It has a dedication page at the beginning to make it even more special.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. A positive review was not required, no other compensation was given. All opinions are my own.*
I must be hiding under a rock or something, because I have never even heard of Really Woolly before reading this book. I don't even recall ever seeing any of the Dayspring greeting cards.
Each 5-minute story is meant to teach little ones about God. Chapter One begins with "The Creator," which is basically a kid-friendly version of Genesis, and ends with Chapter 30 "God Is With You" ("Great Commission"). Each pages features adorable, colorful illustrations.
The very page features a "This Book Belongs To," where you can print your child's name (or whomever owns the book) as well as whoever "presented" the book to them. There is also spots for the date and occasion (birthday, Christmas, etc.). Page 10 is called "A Prayer from Someone Who Loves Me" and Page 11 is called "My Own Bedtime Prayers," along with blank lines, so whomever gave you the book can write in it and/or you can write your own prayer in it.
Overall, this is an adorable little book for children, well, not that little, as it's a big book with plenty of illustrations. There is a long ribbon book marker attached to the spine of the book. With Christmas just around the corner, the Really Woolly: 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury would make a great gift.
If you love God and the Bible and want to share about them, this book is a great way to do so because each night you and your children can snuggle up and enjoy messages that will inspire, nurture and raise the spirit in your household as well as hearts
