Rate this book
In the steamy and suspenseful sequel to Sugar Daddy, a heartbreaking rift threatens to unravel a dangerous alliance... and a fragile new love.

After posing as an escort for the Sugar Bowl online dating service, Sela Halstead is looking for one thing: payback. She's closing in on the site's heartless founder, Jonathon Townsend, and she needs Beckett North, Townsend's business partner and her lover, by her side. She'd thought that their intimate nights together had forged an unbreakable bond, but after a shocking betrayal, Sela begins to doubt the brilliant bad boy. When push comes to shove, can she trust Beck to do the right thing?

Now that he understands the truth, Beck will stop at nothing to secure the reckoning Sela deserves. But between his desire for her and his disgust for JT, Beck doesn't exactly have a lot of control over his emotional state. Left with no other choice, he must summon all his discipline to maintain JT's trust and pretend that they're still friends. But how far will Beck go to prove his loyalty to Sela? He nearly lost her once. To keep her, Beck might have to kill for her.

Note: Sugar Rush ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck's story concludes in Sugar Free!

“The complete truth is out, and now it’s time to destroy JT.”

'Sugar Rush', the second installment in Sawyer Bennett’s 'Sugar Bowl' series was as intriguing, steamy, suspenseful as its predecessor. Since 'Sugar Daddy', the previous installment ended with a cliffhanger I was more than eager to read this one and find out how Sela and Beck’s relationship will progress. To be honest I find this installment to be more intriguing in some way than the previous installment. The multitude of twists and turns and the fact that everything that happened with these characters took me on a rollercoaster of emotions kept me glued to the pages from the beginning until the end.

“When I gave my full trust to you, I knew that you were more important than my revenge.”

'Sugar Rush' starts right where the previous installment ended. Beck finally found out what Sela was hiding from him all this time, he found out her biggest secret, the secret that has the power to destroy their relationship. If at first Beck doesn’t really know what to do about Sela and about her secret, he realizes in a very short amount of time not only that Sela tells the truth about J.T, but also that he feels so much more for Sela than he initially thought. When he finds out the entire truth about what happened with Sela ten years ago, Beck starts to open his heart in more than one way. All he wants now is comfort Sela, to care for her and also help her plan her revenge, wanting as much as Sela to take down the enemy.

“He was a new life.
A fresh start.
A possibility I thought I’d never have.
But right now, he’s the man who just broke me.”

I really enjoyed this second installment! I loved the intrigue, the suspense and the remarkable way the plot unfolded. Once again the plot was well-developed, enthralling and kept me at the edge of me seat the entire time. Needless to say I enjoyed how the story progressed and I loved how the two main characters’ relationship evolved. I liked the two characters individually, but I have to say I loved them as a couple. Sela was vulnerable in a very endearing way, but also so strong and determined at times, I couldn’t help but admire her. As for Beck, well…to be honest he really frustrated me at some point into the story, but he grew on me since he proved several times s the story unfolded that he’s the perfect man for Sela.

“Keep your eye on the prize, Beck. Sela’s the prize.”

For a good part of the story Sela and Beck were simply great as a couple. I adored the way they loved each other. It was wonderful and really heartwarming. I loved how their connection deepens in this installment and once again the intense chemistry between them was fantastically done.

This second installment ends with a huge cliffhanger who for me it was even worse than the one from the previous installment. I’m dying to read the third and final installment and find out how Sela and Beck’s story will end.

Revenge Is Sexy!

From the moment that I finished the first book in the 'Sugar Bowl' series, I've been dying to get my hands on 'Sugar Rush'. It seemed like every one of my Goodreads friends was the lucky recipient of an ARC and I was green with envy. I was able to bide my time by reading the teasers they provided in their reviews to hold me over until I could get my copy on release day. Finally, I got my copy and it did not disappoint! Sela and Beck are back baby!

Immediately, I was thrust right back into the emotional upset that we were left with at the end of 'Sugar Daddy'. I love a story that brings the angst and emotional turmoil, so I was more than happy to let Beck's callous actions gut me all over again. I'm a bit of a masochist like that.

However, as much as I continue to love this story, I do have one big complaint. If you follow my reviews, you know that I absolutely hate it when the hero messes up big time and the heroine forgives them too easily. I want to see some big-time groveling and suffering before they're able to work their way back into the heroine's good graces. I want retribution. I want justice. I want them to pay!

Suffice it to say, Beck got off too easy in my opinion. I wanted the first half of the book to detail his apologies, shame, regret and grand gestures to win Sela's affection again. Instead, he essentially had a single conversation with her, apologizing for his behavior, and all was forgiven. Seriously! WTF! It kind of undermined Sela's supposed emotional state. Instead, it made her "broken" emotional response seem insincere and kind of fickle.

Now that I got that off my mind, I want to stress that I thoroughly enjoyed every other aspect of this story. Beck may have gotten off easy, but he did keep working hard at redeeming himself. He devoted all his energy and resources to making JT pay for hurting Sela.

While 'Sugar Daddy' had Sela trying to seek her revenge secretly, 'Sugar Rush' has Beck teaming up with Sela. With a private investigator helping them, they come up with a plan to seek revenge. At last, they seem to have JT backed into a corner.

Of course, if it were that easy it wouldn't be much of a story. Things are never that straightforward and this series is no exception. This book ends with another huge cliffhanger. I'll have to wait for the third, and final, book to see how everything works out for Sela and Beck.

Let the wait begin!

I probably should have waited a bit closer to August to read this arc. I just had to see what happens next to Sela and Beck.

This sequel starts right where book one ended and took many turns some were brilliant, some just okay, all however adding up to this book being a good sequel in this triology. Pretty much everything about this book is a spoiler. For instance who is the other character with Sela in that oh so hot Christmas tree sex scene?

description

The story is a very quick read which is well paced and exciting. Big plans are hatched and carried out all of which will leave a reader on the edge of their seats to see how it plays out.

I’m still holding onto my theories going into the final book and think more friends should meet Sela Halstead, Beckett North, and Jonathon Townsend!

WARNING: THIS REVIEW MIGHT CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS FROM SUGAR DADDY.

Damn, mother of freaking cliffhangers! Sawyer Bennett did it again, people! I had zero doubts though because when I read Sugar Daddy it was such an extraordinary experience that I knew Sugar Rush would be just as amazing! I am falling in love with Bennett’s writing word by word!

Sugar Rush is the second installment in Bennett’s Sugar Bowl series in which she has created a trilogy with her especial touches to it plus adding something new: a little bit of darkness. This book continues the story of Sela Halstead and Beckett ‘Beck’ North, two people who fall in love surrounded by secrets and lies. Now Beck knows what Sela was hiding and everything that happens in this novel revolves around what they want to do about it.

The complete truth is out, and now it’s time to destroy JT.

I feel Sugar Rush was even darker than Sugar Daddy. As you know, if you have read the first book in the series, Sela is decided to take revenge after what Jonathon Townsend did to her and Beck is now on her boat too, especially when it comes to their business and also because he wants to stop Sela from hurting about what happened. Well, this book is even more focused on taking down JT, to the point that it ends with a major cliffhanger that left me breathless. It was insanely intense, that’s for sure!

Keep your eye on the prize, Beck. Sela’s the prize.

“You finish up with your dad, come grab me, and we jet out of there before anyone can stop us.”
“Then we go home and celebrate Christmas Eve together,” he adds.
“Preferably naked,” I say with an impish grin.
“In front of the fireplace.”
“With whipped cream.”
“And toys… we must play with toys,” he says with a laugh.

Even with all the vengeance plot, I have to say what I enjoyed the most about Sugar Rush is how Sawyer developed Sela and Beck’s relationship even further. Now they have a common enemy yes but what brings them together and makes them such a perfect couple is the love they have for each other. Their feelings are so strong that nothing surpasses them and these two gave us such fabulous moments together! Obviously, the Sugar Bowl couple still have amazing chemistry, inside and outside the bedroom!

His actions are leisurely, his gaze is tender, and his cock is dominating.

“I intent to spoil you, Sela” he murmurs. “I want to give you the world.”
[…] “You’ve already given me the world.”

And then, as I previously mentioned, that MAJOR cliffhanger happens. Holy mother of Jesus, it was extremely rough and absolutely amazing! Well done, Sawyer Bennett, well done! And thank God I did not have to wait for Sugar Free because I would have been very painful to wait, you all know how much I hate waiting lol Especially, when there is such an emotional ending involved. I cannot wait to see what all of you guys have to say about it!

Knowing how she feels for me and I feel for her… there is nothing comparable to this feeling.

So, my rating for Sugar Rush is 4.5 STARS because I really enjoyed every dark and sexy part of this book. Sawyer Bennett is amazingly talented and she continued with an even darker story that won’t leave you indifferent! Since it ended with a cliffhanger and also because I always want more, I am hoping to rate Sugar Free with a much deserved 5 stars (I totally did!); I am absolutely sure the Sugar Bowl series will be one of my favorites this year so I highly recommend it!

***4,5 "Being bold for LOVE!!!" stars***

After the abrupt ending of the first book, i was dying to get my hands in this one!!!
And thank God, everything turned out just great, until... they weren't!!!
Yep, Mrs Bennett had built a wonderful story full of vengeance, love and suspense, but damn me, we were having another cliffy!!!

And now, i'm dying to learn what the hell took place between J.T. and Sela...
Sela, what did you do??? And which will be the consequences???

Well, in the second book of Sugar Bowl series, the story picked up from the exact point that the previous book had ended.

Sela disappointed and heartbroken left Beck's condo, but thank God, Beck realized the truth of her words and he immediately made amends with her, because she became a big part of him and he couldn't live without her...

And then, he found out exactly what happened to her ten years ago and his fury was hard to be contained!!!
From that moment, he was determined to take full charge of the Sugar Bowl and to take revenge from J.T. in Sela's behalf...

How they will succeed in this plan??? The road will be long and not at all easy, that's the only sure thing!!!

"We'll work this out... whatever needs to be done with J.T.
But that's a side issue right now.
What's more important is what we have between us, and I vow that's where I'm going to put my attention from this moment forward."

To be honest, after the turn out of the events at the end of the first book, i was thinking that there will be much more drama between Sela and Beck, but thank God, there wasn't and i loved it that way!!!

Except for the matter of the vengeance, at the same time, they were happening more things in the background...
J.T.'s connection with Beck and what had happened to Beck's sister before some years and all of those things were creating so much suspence...

"One thing I've managed to understand with great clarity is that Beck has now become the most important thing to me. While I still need to seek justice for myself, I need to balance it with keeping myself safe and ensuring that Beck comes out of this with no damage."

Beck for once again proved how wonderful man he was... He was caring, thoughtful and he took personally Sela's matter... He could do anything to protect the people that he loved..

Every day he was making something more wonderful from the previous day and you couldn't not love this man!!!
Yep, he had some issues with lies and trust and that's why he reacted badly toward Sela, but he was feeling awful about his behaviour that day...
He was so understanding with Sela's past and he knew how to comfort her, because he had the experience in that matter...

No, i won't tell you more!!!

"Everything I do is with the idea in mind of solidifying my future with her."

Sela finally let herself loose and she gave her trust completely to Beck after the revelations...

With Beck started to unlock herself and she became truly happy... She started to love a man and that show her that she is capable of doing it, that those monsters didn't ruined her completely!!!

"I have never felt more coplee and secure as I do now. Not because of what we shared, but because my core essence as a human being finally recognizes with complete clarity it's other half."

Beck and Sela became more solid than ever since there were no barriers between them anymore...

I liked the way they were together...
Their love grew up and now, they were bound with a common cause...
Will they succeed to take J.T. down???

"Two souls who have preffered to be alone for holidays past, now bonded through circumstance, passion and a focused need for revenge."

As for J.T.???

I never liked that guy, and i feel ashamed to admit it, but at some point, i felt pity for him, but damn me, i wanted to kick my ass when i realized for once again that he didn't deserve any good feeling for me!!!
He had to pay for what he did!!! He's not a good man!!!

Before i end my review, i have to say that i really liked Dennis!!!

And poor Caroline... Your own fate wasn't the best...
And i knew who was behind that action!!! I knew it from the first moment... I was so sure about it!!!

And now, i can't wait for the final chapter in this story!!!

This book picks up right after the first book Sugar Daddy left off. (I like when books do that because my memory is not so hot.)

Beckett and Sela have had a big fight after he caught her prowling through his locked office and she tells him that his partner JT raped her. He doesn't believe her.
Palm Springs commercial photography

He then looks back and realizes that she is telling the truth. They team up to take that bastard down.

This second installment is really short. (I do think this could have been done well as just two books.) It's mostly the build up to the third and final installment.

There is not a lot of sexy times in it..but of course.
Palm Springs commercial photography

There is a line in this book that kinda threw it for me. I had mentioned in my review that this storyline kinda reminded me of one of my favorite movies...but this just wasn't very original for the book to go there.
I lean casually to the right, into her space, and put my lips near her ear. "I think I forgot to tell you....but you look stunning tonight."

I know movie lines aren't copyrighted but please...cheesy!
Palm Springs commercial photography

I still really like these characters. I even like booing the bad guy.
Palm Springs commercial photography
And yes, I'm dying for the third installment.

This book took over my life for a few hours, and I'm not even close to being sorry for ignoring everyone once I got this on my Kindle. After Sugar Daddy ending the way it did, I was starting to go a little crazy the longer I didn't have the next book. And now, here I am going crazy yet again because the ending to Sugar Rush was somehow even worse!

The story opens up where the first left us hanging, and I won't say much about that, but just know it was a bad scene to be left in the middle of. Now we're back to Sela's secret life as Beck's Sugar Baby while she plots against his business partner, JT. Sela's main goal is to rid the world of the evil that lurks inside of JT, one of her rapists. But now she has Beck to deal with and the feelings she's started to feel for him.

This is one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write, because I have so much to say about this book and want to just rant on and on about it, but I can't. Everything I want to say would spoil the previous book for you so I'm stuck trying to figure out what exactly won't spoil the story. What I guess I can say, is that I love Sela and her strength. She didn't back down from the fight, she plotted and planned, and she's ready to go forth and get rid of the living demon that destroyed her younger self. I just love that about her, that she will pick herself up, and stand strong, instead of staying down beaten and wary.

This may sound weird, but I praise Sawyer Bennett for her ability to write a rape victim like she did. I get nervous about books that have rape in them because there are many out there that end up just pissing me off when the heroine is portrayed as a damaged character because of what happened, and then BAM she's magically all better when she see's the Hero. Sorry, but it doesn't happen like that.

Sela, though, wasn't like that at all. Her past is full of broken pieces that she had to work really hard to be able to pick up and put back together. There was no scene where the Hero's must-be-magic penis, healed her, and I could just hug Sawyer Bennett for that. I not only enjoyed how the scenes involving her past were written, but I really appreciated them too.

This story, just like the one before it, kept me captivated the entire time I was reading it. There were so many things that I wanted to know, and the little hints that we got throughout the whole story of what was to come, made me crazy in the best way possible. I did finally get some of my answers and there was something I was positive I knew, which was confirmed, so that made me happy. I still have many questions though, so I will be thinking of Sela and Beck until I can finally get all of my answers with the conclusion to their story.

Bottom line, I'm still going more than a little crazy from not having all of my answers. And everyone else needs to read this book so we can all suffer in the loony-bin together. Sugar Rush is definitely worth reading, despite the insanity that will result from the cliffhanger, and I hope everyone will love it as much as I did.

The Sugar Rush put me on a HIGH...until I crashed.

Yes, I went back for more Sugar. Sugar Daddy took me on a rollercoaster of emotion that left me with a need to physically harm fictional characters. This doesn’t happen a lot to me. I might dislike a hero or a heroine for making a wrong decision or action but I don’t normally feel a need to physically punch someone. This violence didn’t dissipate and when Sugar Rush landed on my kindle, I wasn’t sure where I was at. I knew things were up in the air. I knew that I was hurting and needed answers and solutions. I hoped that some sense came to Beck, and to some extent Ella…but I just wasn’t sure. There’s a lot to deal with. Loyalty, trust and dedication have been questioned. Who is lying and who is telling the truth? Will I still want to kill?

Would you bloody believe it? I had a smile on my face for 84% of this book. No, it wasn’t all hearts and flowers, but it really made me happy. Beck and Sela…are communicating.

There you go…that’s my review. I don’t want to give you any more because that would spoil the journey.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Ok, I’ll give you this…After 84% all bets were off. I had no friggin idea where this story would go next. My heart stopped…then it kind of started galloping. I had to put my kindle down, close my eyes and take a deep breath. I wanted to scream…NO!!! Why? Why would you do that?

The end came…and I’m back to feeling murderous. But…who…what…where…why???

5 Stars!!!

That ending. What the flying f*ck was that???

I knew I'm in for a ride when I started this book because the first one turned my world upside down. I was right. Sugar Rush evolved on a new level. It's darker, a lot more gripping, and intense!

As Sela Halstead and Beck North's relationship progressed and their quest to seek revenge and destroy JT started, things become trickier. Family ties and the Sugar Bowl business get in the way for Beck to achieve his goal so they dived into a more concrete yet risky plan with the help of their trusted investigator. But things are not as easy as they thought. More revelations keep coming out that hinder their plans. Even their dream of a happily ever after is almost impossible if they don't do it right.

This sequel was brought out very well. I loved Sela and Beck's character development and how they became at ease with each other and even gave their complete trust to one another. Sela opened up to Beck and told him about that part of her past that continue to give her a lot of reason to get back to JT. And after all the things she revealed, Beck was there to protect her.

Alright... so once again Sela made a stupid decision here which kind of pissed me off but I was still surprised that her stupidity was actually the thing that created a boomerang in this sequel. I did get nervous and I freaked out in every chapter.. especially the last few ones.

If you haven't started this book yet, you better do so. Unless you're not into dark romantic reads and deadly cliffhangers, then stay away from it. But if you love this kind of theme, this series is going to satisfy you. I've never been so happier to try Sawyer Bennett's book. She is so worth it. Her writing style is superb and something that I wasn't perhaps expecting.

Sugar Rush, all in all, is one amazing sequel. It had my mind spinning and my emotions on a ride, something I cannot imagine of feeling. I need the third book to come out now!

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

4.5 OMFG Stars

...and grovel he did

Sawyer Bennett must either love us or hate us. I can't figure it out. Again she leaves us with a brutal cliffhanger that made me scream "NOOOO" at my Kindle. The story of Sela and Beck can't be compared to anything else this author usually writes. It sucks you in, makes you swoon and bite your nails in anxiety, fills you with gut wrenching emotions. In my humble opinion this series is Sawyer Bennett's best work so far.

If you haven't read the first book in the series yet please stop reading RIGHT HERE, because everything that follows will spoil the first book for you. I'm going to try and keep my review as vague as possible and will only give you an inkling how the plot will continue. This installment continues right where we left off.

I can't say how much I loved the growth both Sela and Beck have gone through, how they take their relationship to the next level and how their connection deepens. Sela becomes a lot more serene and I adored her in this part of the series. She is becoming even stronger with Beck having her back and protecting her. One situation comes to my mind where I was raising an eyebrow wondering where Sela's reaction came from, a minute later Sela was asking herself the same question since it was out of character for her. To me it showed how her relationship was becoming more and more important than her plan for revenge, she was growing as a person.

And Beck...I was so angry at him after I left those two a couple of months ago. I was curious how this author would make me fall for him again. He bares his soul and is utterly delicious with all his faults and weaknesses. I loved him even more this time around.

JT is such an evil character, that you will hate him even more, after all the things you will learn on this journey. A new secondary character is introduced and I hope that he will get his own story. He has a lot of potential of being a swoon-worthy main cast.

Again the path of Sela and Beck isn't straight ahead. There are twists and corners you feel coming and dread to go around yet you can't help and continue reading. Things are revealed that will raise new questions, some are being resolved.

One more thing I have to mention. There is a temporary location change for these two which takes them to my city, Vienna. I talked to Sawyer Bennett and she told me she visited in the past and that Vienna was her all time favorite city. The way she described some places was extremely accurate and I LOVED seeing them doing all those things in my hometown. Kudos for doing it right, Miss Bennett, and giving my beautiful city a stage!

So now the waiting begins again. I am so looking forward to reading about Sela's and Beck's end of their journey and hopefully their HEA.

“I need you to show me that you believe I’m strong, and beautiful, and as tough as bricks. If you don’t believe that about me, I won’t believe it about myself.”

“Sugar Rush” is the second instalment in the “Sugar Bowl” series by Sawyer Bennett and she certainly did not disappoint. This story was filled with everything I desired and more. It had suspense, steamy romance and an intriguing plotline. I was on a full rollercoaster of emotions throughout this book, where one moment I thought everything was going to work out ok, but then something else would happen and all my preconceived ideas would be thrown out the window. All these twists and turns kept me captivated throughout this fast paced and suspenseful story.

For those of you who have read “Sugar Daddy,” you would be well aware that Sela is out to take revenge on Jonathan Townsend, because of the horrendous things he did to her and it continues through this instalment. I found “Sugar Rush” to be a lot darker and a lot more suspenseful than “Sugar Daddy.”, but having said that, it was so thrilling to read how Sela and Beck’s relationship grew stronger. Beck truly has Sela’s back.

"I wonder exactly how strong his loyalty will be to me."

“Sugar Rush” is a really emotional, but thrilling story and it had me mesmerised from the first page right through to the end. “Sugar Daddy” finished on such a massive cliff-hanger that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. I was desperate to find out what happened next. I have decided to keep my review short, sharp and sweet and most importantly spoiler free, as I know some readers will probably want to binge read them once the last instalment “Sugar Free” is released; so I don’t want to give away too much for them.

This story was jammed packed full of everything you could want in a great book; love, hate, betrayal, lies and secrets. It highlights the benefits of having great strength, the faith to move on and being able to learn to trust again after traumatic events have scarred you. I love a good revenge story and would most definitely recommend this story to anyone who feels the same. “Sugar Free” the third instalment of the “Sugar Bowl” series is due to be released in October.

3 Frustrating Stars

This book started out okay and I was pleased with the way the author was able to remind us of the back story without repeating everything word by word, which happens and drives me nuts. Then we move past that and then I was thinking

 photo thisisboring_zpsjxyin6iu.gif

But I kept going even though for me Beck had turned into a total softy and lost that edge, which sucked. I still thought he was hot. I read so many positive reviews I wanted to find out what happened so,

 photo waitpatiently_zpsf3mzl64n.jpg

Then BOOM shit happened!! At about the 70% mark that pulled me in and got me excited. I was so keen to see where their plan was going to go but Sela really?? Sela has to be one of the stupidest h I have read in ages, I mean seriously who would do that?

 photo stupidyouare_zpslsqwragm.jpg

So this book frustrated me to no end and yes I did enjoy the last 30% but I could not bring myself to give anymore than 3 stars.

I may be the stupid one though, I will probably read the next one because god dammit I want to know what happens.

Dear Lord! That just did not happen?!!! The ending, are you kidding me?!!! I need to know what happens next, this second, and luckily for me, I have the next book just waiting on my kindle. *evil laughter* So much drama, I love it! There is so much going on in this story, there truly wasn't even one moment that didn't keep my attention. I'm serious folks, if you haven't already read this series, do it now! I definitely do not regret picking up this series since it's so well made. You have action, deceit, plans of murder, love, betrayal, inner growth and so much more, it's just crazy!

In the previous book we get to know Sela's past and her motivation for doing some pretty horrible things. But in this book we get to see her plan in action and she has some new allies that help her through all the stages of it. Yes, she may have gone in a different direction than originally planned but the goal is still the same. Destroying JT and making him wish he'd never been born. And oh boy, the ending of this story, wow! Let's just say you'll be quite surprised by the outcome! The whole jorney to get to her goal is so intense and really thought through, it's really a joy to read how everyting falls into place.

description

I really enjoyed reading about Back and Sela's characters. They might have started their relationship in a more unconventional way but they got so far already in this story that I just can't help but love them. Together they found something in each other and they know it's worth fighting for, no matter the costs. And believe me, they are high! Some secrets are revealed and I was really shocked to find out about few of them. I just did not see them coming and it's safe to say the plot twist are amazing! The stakes are high and everyone wants to win the game where no one can really come out as a true winner.

Apart from those two characters, Beck's sister and her daughter are just so cute and fit perfectly into the story. Also Sale's dad is such a strong character and you can really see how deep he cares for his daughter. Now, that being said, Beck's parents and JT, they can all just go to hell for all I care. They are just horrible people that don't deserve any kind of kindness coming their way. Their lives are just too f-ed up and in my eyes they are not redeemable!

For all of you who haven't read the first book yet, please do. I'm sure the story won't disappoint! It certainly didn't disappoint me!

MY RATING

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I know I should wait until August to read this but when it landed on my kindle I couldn't just leave it there unread!!

SUGAR RUSH: Told in 'dual perspectives' (Sela & Beck)

Remember how BOOK#1 (Sugar Daddy) ended, where Sela Halstead confided in her boyfriend Beckett North of what his business partner had done to her ten years ago..

Well Sugar Rush kicks us off right where that ended, her revealing her secret, the look of shock and disbelief on his face as she runs out the door, and him slamming the door in her face.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I knew immediately she had lied to me
about needing to take a walk that day
after Thanksgiving because she was over-welmed.
I quickly figured out that she had taken my key chain and had
made a copy so she could get into my office.
- Beck

How could I have not seen the duplicity?
How in the fuck did I get played so well ?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic She's a proven liar, and
I hate liars more than anything.
Hate fucking secrets and gray areas
and deception and cover-ups.
My parents taught me well to hate it,
creating such a vile environment for
what masqueraded as a family that
they unwittingly made a man with
no tolerance.

If Beck wants to win back Sela's heart and listen to her side of what occurred that night on her sixteenth birthday he has some serious grovelling to do. Will he believe her or will their relationship be in tatters?

This delves even deeper into what happened to Sela that night, how she met JT and his friends, and what they did to her.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic The case was dropped for lack of evidence
and I was left to rebuild my life around a crime
that would never be solved.

That saying "Sweet sixteen", and never been kissed" was taken to the extremes for rape victim Sela, given a drink laced with a date-rape drug called Rohypnol. All she can recall of that night was that there were three of them, and a tattoo of a red phoenix. A memory riddled with holes, a need to seek revenge. She identified one of them on tv by recognizing the red bird tattoo, the race is on to find out who the other two are.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic All I ever wanted was a quiet life.
I always thought I'd be alone because of what
happened to me.
I never thought there was room for anything
other than my anger and misery.

A slow paced full of gritty anticipation, it's raw, it's heartbreaking, it's full throttle full of angst, it's gonna make you lose your shit, it's full of twists and turns that even a roller-coaster doesn't have.

No matter which was I wanted to take my review it would've given away major spoilers for you guys so this is as free from spoilers as I could get. Definitely a trilogy I would highly recommend..

SUGAR RUSH is book two in the three-part SUGAR BOWL series which is romantic, steamy and suspenseful in equal measure. The author effortlessly transports the reader back to her fictional world providing subtle story details over the early stages of this second part and explores the scenario of Sela’s past with horrific detail giving the reader full insight into her reasoning for revenge, the driving of the narrative.

There are a couple of elements that didn't quite work for my personal reading tastes, including something that happens towards the climax of the story. I felt that these aspects were perhaps plot contrived rather than character driven and caused my story bubble to burst somewhat. Having said that Sugar Rush provides an engaging second part to this series with protagonists Beck and Sela continuing to shine with their palpable chemistry and Beck’s charisma.

The love established in the first part of this series is seriously under threat as SUGAR RUSH unfolds with revelations, heartbreak and erotic hotness. It's as naughty and sexy as you’d expect with enough OMG moments to keep fans of this series on the edge of their seats. I’m eager to uncover all the layers of suspense, discover how their story will end and, most importantly, whether love will conquer all.

Note: Sugar Rush ends on a cliff-hanger but Sela and Beck's story concludes in Sugar Free which is scheduled for release in October!

Dear Sawyer Bennett,

You kill me. Dead. I mean, you warned me but you still killed me. What have you done? You've NAILED this series. These characters. The plot twits. All the things.

In Sugar Daddy you left us with the mother of all cliffys, but you didn't make us wait long for it to be dealt with... And then in a rush so many things happen. So many things are uncertain. And I just couldn't guess what was going to actually come of it all... And then BAM and UGH and OMG and WHY!

Right now I just want to throw myself on the floor and beg my face off for the final book because... What have you done, Sawyer Bennett?

Hands down, this series is your best work. All the stars.

While waiting to finish a story usually drives me bonkers, I can't bring myself to regret reading this captivating book. Sawyer has got me well and truly on the hook. This installment starts seamlessly where book one's cliffy held us. I was pleasantly surprised by the recovery from that situation. I can't really delve too deeply into the plot without giving it away so I'll just say that the plan to get revenge has changed somewhat and the moves on the chessboard begin. Of course this too ends with a cliffy and I was definitely shaking my Nook hoping more words would dislodge themselves lol I may have wanted to shake a certain heroine as well. The characters continue to grow both as a couple and individually. The plot is definitely interesting and certainly enthralling. The writing excellent. Can't wait for book three. Seriously, put us out of our anticipation misery :-p Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. There is pushing away. Yes to rape and abuse as it is the underlying premise.

There is always a risk when you are writing a trilogy about the same characters that the middle book is going to feel a little bit like a filler if you do not adequately fill out and extend the story-line so that it feels that what you have read is relevant to everything going on in the long term.

Sawyer definitely made sure that the plot kept moving along in Sugar Rush, and there was certainly no filler in it.

If you haven’t read book one the rest of this review will be a bit spoilery so probably best to look away now!

We do literally pick up with Sela on the floor outside of Beck’s apartment, he has kicked her to the kerb after discovering her in his office, and not giving her a chance to offer a full explanation. But Beck being the intelligent fellow that he is doesn't take too long to work out he has majorly fucked up.

It may be the worst mistake I’ve ever made, and I hope to god I can fix it…

What progresses is the rebuilding of a relationship, that as readers you thought was possibly, irrevocably broken at the end of Sugar Daddy but let’s not forget the factors that pushed this couple together initially, they are still very much a part of the story, and as Beck digs deeper you start to see just how dirty and depraved certain individuals are.

"Operation fuck over JT is now in progress."

Sela grows in strength in this one, the fact that she is in a healthy (somewhat) and committed relationship with a guy who knows her past and loves her all the more for moving on from it seems to give her the confidence to face up to the future and what she ultimately wants to do about the situation that she is no longer on her own in dealing with.

"Don’t treat me like I’m breakable. I couldn’t stand it if you did that to me. I need you to show me that you believe I’m strong, and beautiful, and as tough as bricks. If you don’t believe that about me I won’t believe it about myself."

I can understand why the series has been split into three, the first two books have stopped at very exciting and important cliffies, but with the length of the books themselves being on the short side, I kind of wish that there had maybe been a way to make this a duo instead.

Be warned, you are left hanging yet again at the end of Sugar Rush and I have to admit the wait for the final book in the Sugar Bowl series feels a little like forever at the moment, with Sugar Free not due for release until October, GAH! Sawyer has moved back onto my auto-buy list with this series, and I am dying to know how Sela and Beck's story ends.

Oops! Happy belated b-day Sugar Rush!!

Revenge, murder and romance. All the necessary elements for the sizzling, spine-tingling continuation of the equally hot and exciting “Sugar Daddy” by Sawyer Bennett.

A few months ago, Sela Halstead couldn’t see beyond the retaliation she needed to exact on her attacker Jonathon Townsend, co-founder of the Sugar Bowl. After meeting and living with JT’s partner, Beck North, for almost a month, she thought that her happiness with the bad boy turned romance novel hero was better than revenge. But while JT is still in Beck’s life, can she really let go? Will she ever trust Beck enough to tell him the truth?
“When I gave my full trust to you, I knew that you were more important than my revenge.”

Will one transgression from Sela destroy the tenuous but incredibly fulfilling relationship his built with her? Beck understands more about Sela’s situation than either of them could imagine. Once Beck allows her sincerity to sink in and he finds out the entire truth, their bond will become unbreakable and nothing will stand in his way to avenge her. But how far is he willing to go?
"Two souls who have preferred to be alone for holidays past, now bonded through circumstance, passion and a focused need for revenge."

Sugar Rush picks up right where Sugar Daddy left off, in heartrending cliffhanger when Beck kicks Sela out of his condo after finding her going through his office, but just before he closes the door on her, she blurts out her tragic truth about how she knows his friend and business associate.

I would never dream of telling you what happens and spoil your fun and enjoyment. I will say that Sawyer Bennett’s story telling ability goes beyond hooking the reader with a scorching hot story, she creates an addicting tale with unpredictable twists that is impossible to put down. I literally couldn’t sleep until I completely devoured this new phase in Sela and Beck’s story and then went back to read it all over again even though it ends with another cliffhanger, or perhaps because of it because I want more of Beck and Sela.
"My core essence as a human being finally recognizes with complete clarity it's other half." ~ Sela
“My feelings for Sela are overwhelming to me at the worst of times, and infinitely comforting at the best of times.” ~ Beck

The direction Bennett takes Beck and Sela is completely different than what I had expected but I definitely liked it. Of course they go through a difficult patch in which they need to learn to trust each other, but once they do, their growth is wonderful to see. We get a lot more of Beck and his sister Caroline’s backstory. If I liked him before, I totally adored him in this book. He’s sexy, caring, protective, understanding, did I mention sexy? Yep, absolutely swoon worthy.
"Everything I do is with the idea in mind of solidifying my future with her."

We also get the sad details about what happened to Sela that horrible night ten years ago on her birthday and there are many other revelations that almost make me want to start a betting pool on how things will unravel. I can’t wait to see where she takes them in the final book.

Sugar Rush is book #2 in the Sugar Bowl series by Sawyer Bennett. It is a thrillingly hot contemporary romance. This is not a standalone book, its predecessor should be read first. Told from both point of view that ends with a shocking cliffhanger that left me wanting the next and final book yesterday. Sela and Beck’s story will conclude with Sugar Free.

Title: Sugar Rush
Series: Sugar Bowl #2
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Release date: August 16, 2016
Cliffhanger: Yes
HEA

After leaving off at quite an intense moment, I was thrilled to continue on to see what Sela's repercussions were going to be for her string of falsehoods that were uncovered. Her rage fueled vigilante plot for revenge was destined to explode in her face one way or another, it was only a matter of time. I must admit, a revenge plot is one of my weaknesses. There's something about someone taking matters into their own hands and seeking out their own brand of justice that gets me every time. These books are no exception. I was completely held in its grip until the very end.

Sela has gotten herself into a world of trouble. As if her duplicity and dangerous plan weren't enough, she's bound herself to a man who has major issues with dishonesty. Beck comes from a very dysfunctional and self-centered family and it's had some significant lasting effects on him. When the bomb finally dropped, it had a fall out of massive proportions. And let's just say I needed to see some major groveling on Beck's part. Strangely enough, I sided with Sela despite the fact that she had deceived him quite badly. But knowing where she was coming from, I empathized with the battle she went through in doing the right thing.

The plot thickened considerably this time around. Just when you think that JT can't sink any lower, he proves you wrong. There are no depths that he can't sink to and Beck and Sela must stay alert and on guard as they set the stage for the final act.

My only reason for not rating a little higher was during the last few pages, Sela made an extremely frustrating move. I saw no justifiable reason why she would go through with it, it didn't make sense for her to take that action considering they had everything they wanted almost in the palm of their hands. The rest of the book was a solid four stars for me, and I'll still be reading the last piece of the Sugar Bowl series. I just wish the twist at the end could have come about in a different way, but that's just me.

If you're like me, and was hooked ever since page one, word one of Sugar Daddy, you're going to want to continue and get your fill in Sugar Rush. Steamy, fast paced, with twists around every corner will have you reading this cover to cover in the blink of an eye. I can only imagine what's in store for us in the conclusion. With this series, anything is possible.

Sugar Rush picks up where Sugar Daddy left off and if you read the first installment I am sure you remember the ending. Thankfully Sawyer Bennett doesn't leave us guessing too long.

Sela and Beck quickly bring things into the light and finally open up about everything. I think that might be a minor spoiler, but trust me when I tell you that is nothing compared to what comes next for these two.

This story is action-packed and full of suspense. I was on the edge of my seat, my heart racing while I read this one. I wasn't sure how things would be resolved or work out for these two, but I desperately want their HEA.

This series isn't like the other Sawyer Bennett books I read, but I am in love with it. I love how they are sexy and emotional, but suspenseful enough to keep me guessing. This last cliffhanger was worst than the first and I so desperately need to know what is coming next. I definitely recommend this series!

I have to give praise to this author! This second installment is simply amazing! A lot changes throughout the story, which is beautifully crafted. It is romantic, sexy, angry, tumultuous and also very startling! You are pulled into the world of Beck and Sela so fast it's crazy. There are many love scenes and a crazy twist at the end. But, what is most important is that it makes you feel an array of emotions, as you go through the journey of both of these heroes as they explore and accept their true feelings for each other.

The characters are full of depth and flaws that made them feel as though they were right there in the room with me. The author does a great job with character growth, you learn more about them as they learn more about themselves and each other. I ached for Sela and enjoyed watching her transformation as the story progressed. I’m so proud of Beck for learning to open his heart to love! I totally loved this male character! He gets attached, he takes pleasure, he has all the control…all these in the name of love…for Sela!

Sela and Beck make a beautiful couple, so supportive of one another! The love scenes depicted are absolutely seismic and so beautifully written they took my breath away!

The story was great. The angst, the repressed emotion...everything was amazing! And the ending was exquisite! I couldn't have asked for a better, more satisfying one. It definitely gets 5 stars from me because I loved it so much and found myself shedding tears left, right and center. This is a book I highly recommend reading. It will tug at your heartstrings and leave you wanting more. Looking forward to the third and final volume!!

“God, it hurts.

So much.

My heart, my chest, my head.

My lungs.

My bones. I even feel the crushing weight of defeat and loss in my bones."

This was so deliciously good! After reading Sugar Daddy, I hadn't really warmed up to Beck and Sela, in the beginning I wasn't feeling their relationship and I felt like the whole situation wasn't credible enough for me. But boy did this book just blow my previous thoughts to pieces. Sugar Rush is what's really sold me to this series. It was emotionally gripping, suspenseful and really just a solid plot in my opinion.

After Beck's douche baggery at the end of Sugar Daddy, I had little hope for these two characters' relationship. And when I started reading Sugar Rush I may have called Beck by a selection of less than savoury words. But as I got into the story and as Sela and Beck's relationship grew my shipdom started to soldify. I can now with a clear conscience tell you that I love these two characters, Beck probably most of all. His palpable emotions for Sela, his fierce protectiveness toward her and just how he wears his heart on his sleeve were a major factor.

“She turns her face, chin still resting on her arms, and gives me a smile filled with gratitude and tenderness. It causes my breath to hitch, because it’s the most expressive I’ve ever seen her, and she’s more beautiful than I can ever imagine anything being."

I think my issues with the first book may have centred around Sela mostly and how troubled she seemed. I really had trouble with her vendetta and not for the reasons behind it but I felt like she had lost all perspective and couldn't recongnise how dangerous it was. And I think I was probably a little too hard in judging her, I think the indepth glimpse into her character in this book helped a lot. Meeting Beck probably helped a lot too.

Like I said in the beginning, this book was so suspenseful, that Mariota vs VanZant fight had me sweating. The introduction of a new character, Dennis was a very welcome addition and I have to I'd love for him to get his own book. Perhaps a pairing with Caroline? I think Caroline needs her won knight in shining armour.

The ending was actually a surprise for me, of all the different scenarios I had cooking in my head I hardly expected the one I got. Which is a good thing. I'm so excited to read the next book, excited and a little scared actually!

4 I Reserve the Right to Bump it Up Stars

I’m not going to lie, my head’s still reeling from the clusterf*ck ending to Sugar Rush. But you know what? I’m stronger and, yeah, a little wiser after my experiences with the Sugar Bowl series in general. This is what my emotionally draining time reading has wrought me:

The first part of this series is all about the relationship. More power to it for sucking my ass in.

• The second is all about the story. And I. Am. Hooked.

I have to admit from the beginning that I’m no fan of the serial romance stories. In my experience, they tend to rush the info/action dump in the firstish installments then drag the hooked reader along for the rest of the ride in what turns out to be a lackluster story that, when it’s all said and done, could’ve been told in 200 words or less. Not my bag.

Luckily that’s not the case here. Sugar Rush managed to grow and deepen the story in the best possible way. Sela and Beck both proved their emotional worth and came into their own in a way that’s both loveable and believable. Oh, and diabolical in the best possible way.

I’m trying to be cool, calm and collected about the situation I’ve been left with as I wait for the finale, but honestly?

That ending is going to be the death of me.

With all of the drama and subterfuge, the heart of this part of the story still seems to shine through.

“All I ever wanted was a quiet life. I always thought I’d be alone because of what happened to me. I never thought there was room in my life for anything other than my anger and misery. But now that’s all changed. You’ve already given me the world.”

That’ll do.

Sugar Rush picks up right where the last book left off. Emotions are running high and betrayal is in the air. Sela & Beck are not in a good place when this story starts, but eventually all their secrets and out in the open with one another & they come out the other side stronger than ever.

 photo 381BFB2A-3ADC-4A30-880E-EBDA8DDF2D5F_zpsj7c5nug5.jpg

After nearly losing Sela, Beck will stop at nothing to prove his loyalty. He's by her side & will do anything to protect her. They form an alliance and together plan their revenge against JT. As they are closing in on JT, Beck has to act like they are the best of friends.

During their deception & planning to take down JT, Beck & Sela continue to grow closer. They both realize they want a future together and have fallen hard for each other. They decide to move forward with their relationship while executing their removal of JT from their lives.

The passion in this one is just as delicious and intense as in the first book. This couple together is on fire! It's an emotional roller coaster that I couldn't get enough of. You will read this book in one sitting. It also has another cliffhanger, so you will be dying for the final book in this series, Sugar Free.

This was a fast read in the continuation of Sela and Beck's story. While I was entertained and some of this was needed for them to move from where Book 1 left off towards the conclusion, I felt like it may not have needed an entire book to do it.

Having said that, I really liked both Sela and Beck and wanted to see these two come out on top. Sawyer does a good job of keeping the suspense high with a few revelations, some I saw coming and others that were a nice twist to this plot. And the hatred for JT is high as was my lust to put him down like the dog that he is.

Sela and Beck work through a few things and as we near the end of this book, they're stronger than ever

Of course, there were a few moments where I seriously was shaking my head (at Sela) and wondering...

but overall, this was a good read and like book 1, we're left hanging!! Looking forward to continuing this sugar rush with the final book!
