Though I’m a born-and-bred Capetonian, and reckoned I was au fait with everything I thought I knew about the Mother City, Nechama Brodie opened my eyes to quite a lot about my stomping ground that was fresh. This is a big book in more than one way – not only considering its physical dimensions but also the depth and breadth of its content. Cape Town from the dawn of man to current day

Great detailed history of the city...warts and all. Each chapter has many small side-bars. Love the links to additional information and recommended reads on specific topics.
