This is the new Second Edition with chapters on low vision and vision rehabilitation to help readers prepare for the oral boards. There is a chapter on contact lenses by Ali Bukhamseen, OD, FAAO, FIACLE, Chief of Optometry Department, Saad Specialist Hospital, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Wilkinson is co-author of Protect Your Sight and author of Essential Optics Review for the Boards . Dr. Wilkinson is a clinical professor of ophthalmology in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences there is consistently ranked as one of the best ophthalmology teaching programs in the United States. Dr. Wilkinson serves on the Executive Committee of the American Optometric Association Low Vision Rehabilitation Section and the Planning Committee of the National Eye Institute’s National Eye Health Education Program. He has published extensively and spoken all over the globe concerning issues related to visual rehabilitation. He teaches optics to the ophthalmology residents at the University of Iowa and around the world.

About the Author

Dr. Wilkinson’s optics course at the University of Iowa helps residents survive the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) exam and boards. Now, in book form, his material will help residents and students ace optics. His book is concise and complete with over 150 questions to guide the student through optics. The book utilizes diagrams to teach and provides a high-yield review of optics that’s needed for success on the boards.

Many people like last minute optics but this book is what really taught me everything. I'm talking starting at zero and self-teaching to a 99% on the optics section of the OKAPS. The second edition is good but I really liked and still refer to the first edition because every word is important.
