This book was as likable as the first but without many of the confusing aspects like too similar of names. It even answers some of the questions I had after the first finished. Character growth is more evident, but still a little too easy. These books revolve more around story than character.
I think it would be possible to read this one without having read the first but there are points where you might be a bit confused.

This novel - the second in the series - picks up ten years after the previous novel and follows Braidyn, the young rider who was previously orphaned and then chosen as a rider by the turquoise dragon Turqueso.
Braidyn's story is very much a coming-of-age story. He's not quite a full-fledged rider, but no longer a youngling, and he doesn't quite feel like he has a place with his mentor's family anymore. When the dragon nestling that is to belong to his mentor's daughter is stolen, he goes on a mi ...more

Dragon's Heir was a fantastic follow-up to the first book! In fact, I loved this more so than I did the first book.
This one follows Braidyn mostly, after Turqueso has chosen him as his rider, and after he lost his family, he was in search of one of his own, a place he could call home.
And although his journey sent him on a quest of justice to the person responsible for stealing a Nestling from the riders, what he found was something he never would expect: love, a home, and power.

I really enjoyed this book. It was better than the first book in the series, not quite as confusing with the characters and their names. It was also easier that I'm more established with the two that have similar names after an entire book of them. The storyline was good, though there are still many foolish characters who don't seem to have much sense. I was rooting for characters and relationships, though some developing relationships I wish would have had more time to grow. The narration on th

Dragon's Heir is a brilliant follow up to Dragon's Future. Honestly I've become so involved with the characters I feel so happy to see Braidyn grown up and a dragon rider in his own right. The imagery is vivid, and the story is well-paced. I greatly enjoyed watching Braidyn explore the world and his place in it while meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, and facing difficult decisions.

While classed as young adult novels, it's a long time since I was a young adult. I've really enjoyed the characters and story line. Kandi does a wonderful job of making you care about the people and dragons! I look forward to reading more of this series.

Dragon's Heir by Kandi J. Wyatt is the second installment of the Dragon Courage series. Ten winters have went by since the first book. Rider Braidyn and his dragon, Turqueso, have made a home, so to speak, in the town of Boeskay. He finds out that two nestlings have been stolen and he vows to find out who is responsible.

This is very suitable book for the 11-15 age group. The story concerns a group of dragon riders on a quest to find a stolen dragon egg. They have many great abilities and their adventures are interesting. The characters are a bit one dimensional but show growth as the story moves along. The violence is very muted and the characters all learn from their mistakes. There is light romance and lots of action including dragon battles and sword fights. The names were a bit confusing as many were very s

Let me start by saying I enjoyed the story itself and look forward to the next installment in the series. However, I have to say that the dialogue early on in the story is weak and childish in nature. It improves as the book continues but for the first half of the story it is almost distracting. The story ties up too nicely very early, there is almost no intrigue. I found myself knowing what was going to happen before I ever got to the next part. There is also a glaring mistake with the time fra

Once again Kandi Wyatt has written a book full of adventures and of course dragons. We meet up with Braidyn who is grown up and determined to locate two stolen nestlings. He manages to find one of them. When he tracks down the thief of the second one, and learns why Sarai took the nestling, things change. Braidyn learns much about himself and what he has been longing for. This is the sequel to Dragon’s Future. Both of these books are must reads, especially for those people who love fantasy, drag

Another fun filled adventure with our beloved dragon riders. This story obviously focuses on Braidyn and his journey in discovering who is he. I enjoyed it as much of the first book but was still a little disappointed with the character development. I was hoping for more depth and feeling from the characters.
Still an enjoyable adventure story especially for those dragon rider fans out there.

Even as a young girl, Kandi J Wyatt, had a knack for words. She loved to read them, even if it was on a shampoo bottle! By high school Kandi had learned to put words together on paper to create stories for those she loved. Nowadays, she writes for her kids, whether that's her own five or the hundreds of students she's been lucky to teach. When Kandi's not spinning words to create stories, she's us
