It's a shame that Nancy died this past week (11/13/2017) as I was re-reading this book. Some of the tips are still worth noting, some I know from watching her PBS show, she has updated in the last few years.
My prayers go out to her husband, family & friends on Nancy's passing & hope that they feel God's loving arms surrounding them as they go through this time - now & in the future.
Rest in Peace, Nancy.

Found this treasure in great condition - at Goodwill.

I must admit, in my universe Nancy Zieman is a ROCK STAR. Seriously. I admire her so much.

Even so, this is a great book. Some ideas are a little dated & the pictures - well - it was published over 30 years ago! But a lot of the tips & ideas & stories are classic Sewing with Nancy. Practical, precise, & well explained.

I think this would be a great book for a not-quite beginner. More experienced sewers might like to see how some of these tricks & techniques work if you don't have all the latest gadgets & notions. (Kinda makes my brain hurt to call something from 1984 "old school" but that sorta applies here - in a very good way!)

I have used this book for years with good results. It shares some strageties for organizing in order to squeeze sewing into a busy life. Nancy also explains quite clearly how to do some things to take an unlined jacket pattern and raise the quality up a notch with a few quick adjustments to existing pattern pieces. This may be one of my most used sewing books even though I have shelves full of larger and more expensive books.
