IF YOU THOUGHT THAT THE X-FILES WAS ONLY FICTION, THINK AGAIN! For as long as extraterrestrial and paranormal phenomena have been investigated, the official government response to any events deemed "otherworldly" or unexplainable has been well documented: DENIAL. Not because they aren't interested in UFOs, monsters, and psychic abilities -- but because they have their own secret agendas for using this knowledge. In this thoroughly researched compendium of conspiracies and cover-ups, the remarkable findings that have been documented (and supposedly debunked) by the governments of the United States, Great Britain, and the former Soviet Union are finally revealed, including
Attempts by the U.S. Air Force to build a fleet of nuclear-powered flying saucers...
The British military's files on the Loch Ness monster and other mysterious beasts...
The Cold War race between the CIA and the KGB to create the perfect psychic spy/assassin...
The real story behind the enigmatic "Men in Black," who terrify UFO witnesses into silence...
For anyone who wants to know the truth -- or the truth behind the truth -- Strange Secrets is the ultimate resource to understanding exactly what the government doesn't want us to know -- and why they want to keep us in the dark.

In 2007 Universal Studios bought the rights to Redfern's book: "Three Men Seeking Monsters: Six Weeks in Pursuit of Werewolves, Lake Monster, Giant Cats, Ghostly Devil Dogs and Ape-Men" in the hopes of making a movie from it.
Even though this was published in 2003 it seemed kind of dated. A lot of the things that these guys seemed to be revealing have been making the circuit of unexplained phenomena for some time. I might go two and a half stars on this one if you really were to argue with me. Mainly because I did like the section and information provided on cattle mutilation. Growing up in Colorado this was big news back in the day. That it was mysteriously shuffled under the rug was always a bone of contention with the ranchers in the area. The other problem I had was the supposed "real" government files contained in the book. I would need a bit more convincing to say that this book contained actual authenticity. Usually I enjoy books like this even if it is for entertainment, this one does not even hit points in that area as it is a bit dry.
There are some very interesting revelations in this book, but by far to me the most important chapter was the one on Cattle Mutilations. The theory proposed as to the government's motive was the first one I've heard that I can actually believe on this matter. But why oh why would the government cover up the anomaly on Mt. Ararat???
This isn't much of a review but I just wanted to write even if you don't believe in UFO's or government conspiracies this book is still something that is fun to read.
