Dinosaur Lake #3

Infestation

Rate this book
Dinosaur Lake III: Infestation by Kathryn Meyer Griffith Chief Park Ranger Henry Shore has dealt with and fought real live dinosaurs at his beloved Crater Lake National Park for over six years. With the help of his rangers, a few brave FBI friends and army soldiers he'd been victorious over a prehistoric lake creature and years later some particularly fiendish, and clever, specimens of the flying variety. He and his newspaper publisher wife, Ann, thought their park was finally rid of the monsters and they could reclaim their tranquil life in a place they cherished. Not so. For suddenly across the park new and even more malevolent mutant species of dinosaur begin to appear and create havoc, attacking the park's visitors and threatening its peace. And this time the primeval scourge isn't confined to just their park. The creatures have moved into the nearby towns, across the western United States and up into Canada. They are so much more aggressive, smarter and hungrier than any that have come before and the infestation is spreading further and faster than Henry and Ann can even imagine. This time there's no easy way to defeat the dinosaurs. There's too many of them and they're too devious. This time it's full out war and the victor will someday claim Earth.

About Kathryn Meyer Griffith 2023
Since childhood I’ve been an artist, and have worked as a graphic designer in the corporate world and for newspapers for twenty-three years before I quit to write full time. But I’d already begun writing novels at 21, over fifty-one years ago now, and have had thirty-five (romantic horror, horror novels, romantic SF horror, romantic suspense, romantic time travel, historical romance, thrillers, one non-fiction short story collection, dinosaur books, and murder mysteries) previous novels and thirteen short stories published from various traditional publishers since 1984. But I’ve gone into self-publishing in a big way since 2012; and upon getting all my previous books’ full rights back for the first time in 36 years, have self-published all of them. My seven Dinosaur Lake novels and Spookie Town Murder Mysteries (Scraps of Paper, All Things Slip Away, Ghosts Beneath Us, Witches Among Us, What Lies Beneath the Graves, All Those Who Came Before, When the Fireflies Returned, and Echoes of Other Times) are my best-sellers.
I was married to Russell for over forty-three years; have a son, two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. I live in a small quaint town in Illinois. I have a quirky cat, Sasha, and we live happily in an old house in the heart of town. Though I’ve been an artist, and a folk/classic rock singer in my youth with my late brother Jim, writing has always been my greatest passion, my butterfly stage, and I’ll probably write stories until the day I die…or until my memory goes.

I just recently watched the Jurassaic Park movies, over and over again, in preparation for the recent release of Jurassic Park III. It made me think of Kathryn Meyer Griffiths series of Dinosaur Lake books and I realized I had not reviewed Book III: Infestation.

So, let’s party with the dinosaurs. Kathryn writes this series in a way that reminds me of Jurassic Park. Even while in terror, there is a sense of enjoyment, humor and fun.

Chief Park Ranger Henry Shore is back. He has been mulling over the past six years, first a monster dinosaur in Crater Lake, then dinosaurs flying over Crater Lake. What comes next? Will it be a water, air or land animal?

Let’s ask boat captain Willie Sander.

Poor Henry. Not again. How many times will he have to go through this? Maybe he needs to approach it in a different way? How will we learn to live WITH them?

Our old friends are back. Ranger Kiley Stanton and Ranger Elle Stanton seemed to have hooked up and are the better for it.

Ann is free of cancer, but she had made up her mind that she would do what made her happy, spending time with her family and Sasha, her new kitten. They were even thinking of retirement.

I’m so excited to find out what we will be playing with in this book, but I hope my favorite characters don’t get bumped off during the adventure. Kathryn is not afraid to kill off her characters.

I knew when he didn’t close the door all the way what would happen. No, No, Sasha. Come back. Will she or won’t she make it? I’m not telling. Even little kitties are on the dino’s snack list.

Justin, Henry’s son in law has been doing investigating of his own. Could this be happening in other locations? Oh man, it just keeps getting better and better.

They’re here. They’re big. They’re hungry…and they aren’t going anywhere. A dino apocalypse.

Nice twist, Kathryn adding Steven, a musician, dinosaur lover and ebook writer.

Denial of the problem could mean you would be served as lunch.

After watching Jurassic Park, it is easy to visualize the herds of dinorsaurs, their attacks, their eating snacks, which included pet squirrels and innocent people.

Kathryn’s writing makes me know that no on is safe. I may lose some friends. The big question is…who?

Dinosaur Lake is Jurassic Park without genetic manipulations, on steroids. Kathryn takes it so much further. The dinosaurs are mutating, they have sharp teeth and claws, are quick on their feet, attack in groups and herds, are vicious and smart, plotting attacks and setting traps the the unsuspecting humans. They are communicating with each other. They hit and pounce, like a cat playing with a mouse.

I have had a feeling from the opening ages that something really bad will happen and I am not going to like it. That is what makes Kathryn’s Dinosaur Lake novels so good. She pulls no punches, yanks the run out from under your feet as soon as you feel you are on solid ground and demands that you pay attention at every turn. Ignore the warnings at your own peril. I am left with a lot of questions and wonder…do I have to draw my own conclusions, or will there be more to come? How about it Kathryn?

I received Dinosaur Lake III: Infestation from Kathryn Meyer Griffith in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Book 1 had me totally hooked. Book 2 was great but was missing something that book 1 had. Book 3 totally brought back that missing piece. I was hooked from the moment I picked up the book. I loved all the different types of dinos. I am a bit bewildered by the types of dinos. None of them appear to be herbivores. Why are there only carnivores? I am loving this series so far. The descriptions of the dinos are great and the story is so action packed. I am really looking forward to the next book.

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

I enjoyed this entry in the Dinosaur Lake series, but the series does seem to be morphing into something much different than it was originally. When it started, it was a Jurassic Park type story where Dinosaurs are discovered in a National Park, but now it has basically turned into a post apocalyptic dinosaur novel. The original story had a plausible explanation for the dinosaurs appearing, but this one seems more like a B movie as you have possibly thousands of "mutant" dinosaurs popping up all over the world. I'm assuming the next volume may explain why, and also give some idea as to why the dinos are "mutants." I really preferred the story on a smaller scale, but a Dino Apocalypse does sound kinda cool. I am a little confused as to how the dinos got so smart, and also why they are acting as a unit rather than fighting with each other. (I have to admit I did chuckle when the characters said "The Dinosaurs want to rule America!" or something like that. Insert your own political joke here.)

That being said, there's plenty of action, the characters are very well done, and it's a good read overall. I'll be checking out the next volume to see what happens next.

This book doesn’t wait to start, it jumps right in and never stops. You don’t have to wait for action. I couldn’t put it down, a great vacation read. Going to start the last one here while on vacation. Hawaii and dinosaurs, besides Godzilla stopped here in the last movie on his swim over.

The first book in this series had me on the edge of my seat. The action was intense and the scares were awesome.

The second book was just as, if not more, intense. And the bodies piled up.

Between those first two books, you lose some beloved characters and some not so loved.

So, now for the third book in the Dinosaur Lake series.

I started this book feeling a bit worried. After the first two, I wondered if the author could keep up the intense action and suspense. She didn’t disappoint. In fact, this may be the most nail biting of them all.

The dinosaurs are rampant with a capital R! They are everywhere, in many shapes and sizes. And, of course, they are very hungry.

Chief Park Ranger Henry Shore and his wife, Ann, have made it through many dangerous encounters with these monsters over several years, losing friends and hope. They managed to triumph, but this time they might not be so lucky.

Dinosaurs are emerging again. So many, so hungry, so unstoppable. It’s not just the park and their town in danger anymore. The dinosaurs are popping up all over the US and Canada and who knows whether this will become a worldwide phenomenon. It may be the beginning of the age of dinosaurs again.

I have to applaud Kathryn. She gave me more dinosaurs. Bigger, meaner ones, and sneaky, littler ones. The scenes of carnage were bloody wild and so many of them. I got all the action I could ever want.

And the characters. Well, there are my favorites, mentions of loved ones lost, and some new ones. I was crossing fingers and toes that my favorites would survive. You never know with this author.

I sure hope there are more books coming in this series. Please let there be more!

While this is the third book in the series, you could easily pick up the story here. But, if you are a fan of action, intense suspense, and monsters, you’ll want to, need to, go back and read the other books.

I received this book for my honest review.

Never thought I would like this type of genre or maybe it is this particular series but this certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. However the way the baby squirrel is referred to....UGGG ......baby boy.....What in world why would you do that? A bit creepy since this line is referred to over and over again. Other than that a really good read.

Glued to every page right from the beginning!!

Wasn't sure if I would enjoy a series like this, but I have it a look see and I loved it! It he so much action right from the beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way through. Although I would like to know what happened to Sasha and Mrs. Kitty Cat, the 2 cats. It didn't say if Ann took them to her daughter's house. Not did it mention of they were with her when Ann came back to the compound. I know it's just a small thing, but I really liked those 2 cats even if they didn't have a big part in the story line. This is a phenomenal series and I can't wait to start the next book.

Dinosaurs proving to be unstopable

Interesting premise as were the previous 2 books, but will there be a fourth? The series would make a great tv series. The lead characters are likable, and one hopes they'll come out of their dino wars safely. Even though I liked the story, I find the writing to be choppy, almost as though the author couldn't wait to be done. Still would like to know what happens to Henry, Ann, Justin and family.

This series makes Jurassic Park look like a kids playground

I really wasn't sure if a book about dinosaurs would interest me. But, this series reeled me in with great characters, side stories and lots of exciting interactions with dinosaurs. I also appreciate that this series doesn't have much cursing, if any at all. Now, I am off to read the next book in the series and I am looking forward to it.

Book 3 is frightening

Thank goodness this is a fiction novel because it would be a horrific world if it was true. It is amazing how book 2 there were a few gargoyles to this book where it was infested. It gave me nightmares last night. But on to book 4

I love Griffith's writing style, just easy reading. I like that she takes me to a totally imaginary place to escape to, and away from the real world.

Chief Park Ranger Henry Shore is back and fighting bigger, meaner, and smarter and more dinosaurs. Henry has been a ranger at Crater Lake for thirteen years. He loves his park and hopes to live and work there until he retires. He thought that when he fought dinosaurs six years ago that that would be the end of them but how wrong he was. Yeah six years ago Henry his wife Ann and his rangers fought dinosaurs on land when it was all over they thought their lives would get back to normal but that was not to be the case just ask Ranger Elle Stanton who went over the rim of the crater in a trolley that was pushed by one of the flying variety.

Now just four months later they are back! They were really hoping that their lives would now start getting back to normal but the dinosaurs have other plans for the humans. They are back with a vengeance and they plan on taking over the world. They want to be at the top of the food change and they just might be seeing how they are very smart. They hide from the humans and plan out their attacks. They attack the humans by throwing whatever they can find at the humans.

Henry’s son-in-law Justin a paleontologist who has helped Henry fight dinosaurs on more than one occasion is afraid that Crater Lake may not be the only place that dinosaurs are appearing so he does a little investigating of his own. What he finds out is very scary. What he fears is happening dinosaur sightings are appearing all over the world.

Oh man I have loved reading Dinosaur Lake III: Infestation. I loved reading about all the dinosaurs running around stomping all over the lake and the city planning and attacking the humans not that I want to see anyone get hurt but Kathryn is not of the same mind she sure doesn’t mind killing off any of the characters. While reading Dinosaur Lake you sort of feel as if you have ESP. Why? Well Kathryn paints a picture in your head that makes you forget everything around you and you think you are right there with Henry, Ann, Justin and everyone else fighting dinosaurs and running for your life.

Will their lives ever be back to normal and what is normal exactly? In the end who will win and take over the world? Will the humans prevail or will the dinosaurs rise up and take over and rule the earth once again? I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I hope I don’t have to wait too long.

“Dinosaur Lake III: Infestation” by Kathryn Meyer Griffith is book number three in the superbly crafted “Dinosaur Lake” series by this author.

This time around Crater Lake National Park Chief Ranger Henry Shore has far more than he can handle in unwanted prehistoric park visitors. Mere months after apparently defeating the horde of flying gargoyles, bigger, badder, meaner and more – many more – dinosaurs literally start to crawl out of the woods.

Paleontologist Dr. Justin Maltin, Chief Ranger Shore’s son-in-law, has a theory. Not a good one, but a theory nonetheless. Unfortunately, by all appearances Justin’s theory is dead on. The dinosaurs are through playing around. This time they are serious about taking over the world.

“Dinosaur Lake III: Infestation” will not leave you with a smile on your face. Sorry, folks… there’s no “happily ever after” this time. I will predict, however, that when book IV comes along, there will be a waiting list of faithful readers, anxious to find out what will happen next.

Griffith has outdone herself this time. Crater Lake National Park, along with the nearby town of Klamath Falls, Oregon, were virtually annihilated by the overgrown lizards, but that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Not only has life forever changed for Chief Ranger Shore, his family and his staff, but this time the change may be permanent. Only time will tell.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. An honest review was requested. You just read my honest review.

Wow..simply excellent

I raced through the first two books..could not stop..could not put any of the series down. As a dinosaur enthusiast myself this series reminds me just how lucky we humans really are. The author completely took me to another world through the exquisite detail. It's been a long time since I felt any true emotion from a book..and I am an avid reader..but a few times there were real tears, and not always bad ones. Outstanding I would love the journey to continue, I find myself wanting more of Ann, Henry,Justin and others, and of course what the zillas are up to. I will be rereading the series for sure.

Excellent

I waited until I had read the complete series before rating and commenting not these books. One word - Excellent! Definitely worth the time to read all three books and they definitely should be read in order. You will find yourself thinking of the characters in these books as your family and friends throughout their trials and tribulations. Outstanding writing with a great storyline that stays consistent through all the books. My only question is - will there be more coming? Please.

Dinosaur Lake III: Infestation is set a few months after Dinosaur Lake II: Dinosaurs Arising. The dinosaurs are back. This time there are more of them. They are fast, cunning, aggressive and out to take over the world. Chief Park Ranger Henry Shore of Crater Lake National Park has to cal out the cavalry to deal with the crisis and this time, it's full out war and the victor will someday claim Earth. This is a fast paced, exciting romp through dinosaur park.

Dinosaur Lake III:infestation is an even better Jurassic Park book. This one is extremely intense. It is like a Dirk Pitt story--there is no way all these events can take place in such a short time period!

Humanity is now in a war with mutant dinosaurs that are able to plan out attacks, hide in plain sight, and make use of rocks and boulders as weapons agains the humans.

I have really enjoyed these three books in the Dinosaur series. I will probably reread then soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books of this series but was slightly disappointed with the ending of Dinosaur Lake III Infestation. It seemed to be missing something and more like her main character was whining there at the end and that was a little irritating but otherwise an okay read.

I loved this. I can't believe that I even cried. My sister laughed at me. No gore or foul language anywhere in it or the other books in this series. Great for ages 13 and up.
