“Tararrum pum pum, tara ra…” went the alarm. Anna rubbed her eyes and went back to sleep, shutting off the sound with a bang. Now who’s going to get up at 6 in the morning, she thought. “Wake up Anna, where is the file I had placed on the table yesterday?” Roger shook her violently. “Go look for yourself. I am not the keeper of your belongings,” she mumbled and turned over, ready to sleep again. Roger pulled her up from the bed and set her on her tasks. It was almost 7:30 and their daughter had to leave for school in half an hour. Then everything seemed to happen in frenzy. There were calls like, “Mom, where are my specs?” or “Mom, come here are plait my hair.” Anna was in the process of cooking a hurried meal. She went over to Angie and just managed to plait her hair in a minute. Then as she returned to the kitchen, the toast was burnt. Somehow Angie’s lunch was packed and she was ready by the time the school bus arrived. Now there is the dishwashing and other random tasks to be taken care of, before setting out for my job, thought Anna. It would be a miracle if I find time to have a shower.
