Bestselling author Harry Porter brings to life a tense and uplifting story of one man's fight against the elements in his short thriller, Wolf, written for adults and teens alike.

"As his eyes opened and began to focus, he realised that the tongue and the breath belonged to the old wolf. Warren froze, not from the cold, but from fear! Hardly daring to breathe and certainly afraid to move, he looked into the eyes of the wolf, who now stood looking back at Warren intently."

As the first snows of winter begin to fall, Warren and Emma awake one morning to find that two chickens have disappeared from the hen house outside their cabin in the woods. Emma is convinced a wolf is responsible, pointing out a set of tracks to Warren. Warren sees something strange in the tracks but, donning his warmest cothes, he takes his rifle and ventures out into the cold morning in search of the predator.

As the weather grows ever colder and the snow falls heavier with each passing minute, Warren soon finds himself pittted against the elements as well as the as yet unseen chicken killer. What happens during the next few hours will change many of Warrens's preconceptions and result in his undergoing a life-changing experience, as he pits his wits and his strength against the previously unseen enemy, the wolf!

Entertaining and Educational
Includes an informative section on the state of the wolf as a worldwide endangered species, making the book a valuable source of information as well as a great story for all ages.

In a world where humankind is driving animal species to extinction, it has become important to re-evaluate our relationship with wildlife. Thankfully, the wolf is making a comeback in our local mountain. So, it was with interest that I read Harry Porter’s Wolf. What a writer! It took me all of thirty minutes to read his short story. Not only does he manage to write a convincing tale in that space of man and animal’s relative struggle with wild Nature, but he does so, touching on a profound theme—the soulful response of both to the other in mortal peril. I loved this little book and unashamedly admit that it moved me. Also, before the story itself is an overview of wolf species. I learnt about animals I’d never heard of. Well done, Mr Porter! Unreservedly 5-stars.

Good information and sweet story!

I liked the background information on wolves which the author started with. It gave more insight into the story. The story was sweet and endearing. I liked how it showed the shared compassion and community between two species.
This book is great for teen readers and adults alike. It highlights the dangers of the wild, while reminding us to have respect for it. Well done!

Unique "short" story!

This was an incredibly short story, however I found it a very satisfying in content. The author attempted to show that the Wolf is not a mindless killer. They are very family oriented and kill to eat. I am by no means a " tree hugger". I hunt and fish but still found the story a nice little diversion!

Sheep in Wolf's clothing?

Set in a wintry wilderness, a respectful understanding between two different species, is the basis for this lovely short story from Harry.
He reminds us that it is the Wolf, that much maligned carnivore, we owe our thanks to, for all the adorable, amazing canines who share our hearts and homes today.
There's also an example showing us, that something which may be considered to be the 'right' thing to do, may not always be virtuous, decent or necessary.
A great little read - well worth 5*

The story is set in the hills, where Warren and Emma have set up their home. However, when the couple discover that their chickens are being stolen by a wolf, Warren knows he must do something to stop it from happening again. Therefore, one day, he sets out with his gun to track down the wolf. But what he discovers out there in the forest, makes him change his mind. To say anymore, would only spoil it for the readers.
This is such a delightful short story it will melt your heart. I thoroughly recommend this read for adults and children alike.

Browsing through my library on my kindle I came across Wolf and while I have read all of Brian's rescue dog series haven't been able to find any of his other books and am I so glad Wolf came up. I have always loved wolves and this delightful little story was so wonderfully written it made you feel as if you were there with Warren. All the information about all the different types of wolves was well documented and very informative.
For a really great read I would recommend Wolf for anyone especially if you love animals Barb McCulloch Shepparton Victoria Australia 🇦🇺

The book is actually a short story with some added information about wolves. I found the story intriguing and with a twist that lasts long after the book is done. The author has thrown in some great pictures, especially if you are a wildlife fan. I could see this tale added to for an intriguing full-size book.

The author says about this short tale which is factual and fictional, that it is more for older teens and young adults than for people of age as I am. But the short story that follows a factual description of the species of Wolf that still roam our earth and those which do not is for ANYONE. In a few short pages a whole moral attitude is created, a realization of the interrelationship of animals and man is created, and kindness of heart and spirit are exhibited. Any heart would be touched by the short story. It certainly touched mine.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short book. I recommend it to anyone. I give it five stars as a wonderful short exposition of wolves and the real need for man and wolves to co-exist. It deserves no less.
