A firm believer of observing and listening rather than adding to the noise surrounding her, Pixie has always been the quiet one out of the Archers. Her intelligence and quiet confidence makes her the perfect choice to join Garrett, Tyler and Missy on their mission to get their friends back. But when she enters the underground network run by Sebastian Black, she suddenly finds her voice. Bastian rattles her like no other, breaking her silence. He sees and hears her more than anyone has in her entire life. But how can she trust a man like him? Now it’s a battle of wills, between what her head tells her, and what her heart insists.
Janelle Stalder was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario. At an early age she developed a love for literature. Her debut novel, Eden, was the first book in a series of four, released in September of 2011. Since then she has released an Adult Dystopian Romance series, the New World Series, hitting the best sellers list on Amazon. She has also released a Mature YA/NA novel, Brush Strokes, that stayed on the best sellers list for contemporary romance for sixteen straight weeks. She is a strong supporter of other independent authors, and loves to interact with her readers. When she's not writing, Janelle is at home with her husband, two children, Aiden and Elora, her little bun in the oven that is on the way, and her two furry children, Alice and Lily. She now resides in a small town in Ontario in her old, possibly haunted, century home.
I was absolutely dying to get my hands on the next book in the New World Series, little did I know the wonderful Janelle Stalder was preparing two books for release. I was so not expecting this amazing novella to be released at the same time. Silence was such a surprise and it did not disappoint. I absolutely loved this novella, my one complaint would be that it was far too short.
During Underworld (which you definitely need to read before this one) I really loved the role that Pixie and Sebastian played in the story and I was so happy that Janelle has wrote this. The goings on in this novella are alongside the happenings in Underworld and I loved seeing all those events from Pixie and Sebastian's point of view.
Silence was an amazing addition to the wonderful New World series. I seriously never want this series to end and I cannot wait to read the next book. It cannot get here fast enough.
I have always been intrigued by Pixie, and this novella definitely needs to be read AFTER Underground, and possibly this review...I may or may not spoil tiny things from Underground on accident only because it relates to this novella.
So like Underground i DEVOURED this like a beast, it was kinda scary. Anyways, Jesus ;) aka Sebastian isn't all that he seems to be. Evil underlord of even more dastardly underground fighting ring, where only one person comes out alive?! Oh yes he seems almost bad as a Ludwig.....well if you know anything about me, you know i love Ludwig and I am utterly intrigued by his character, so it shows to be my pattern i need to know everything about this new baddie on the playing field
And ooohhh boy does Janelle deliver YET AGAIN!!! There is so much more to this man than meets the eye, he has QUITE few little secrets as we find out in the end of Underground. The relationship between Pixie and Sebastian *because its a sexy name and we should never shorten it* is on fire!! I thought that Phoenix and Trent were the hottest, most explosive yet but nah i was wrong. These two are ON FIRE seriously, *fans self ;) *
This was a delightful add on story and while it doesn't move the series much farther it does help answer questions we might have during Underground, and solidifies that Janelle has a crazy amazing way of writing this insanely unique characters. I'm so in awe of her skill, and she made me fall for the man i should hate, but we know we can't hate him now.
And Pixie, what a treat she was. She had always been this little mysterious girl that just blew things up but i knew there was more to her story and I was soooo sooooo excited to see her story finally! Yay!!! :D
So to wrap this up, this was a delightful add on to Underground and really helps give us a full rounded view of these books in the series and I cannot wait for the next books in the series!
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.***
We met Pixie in Masked, but we didn’t get to know much about her until Underground. And this story takes place during Underground, and it explains so much about her behaviour as well as Bastian’s, who we met in Underground. Of course we get to see Garrett, Missy, Tyler, Phoenix, and Trent in this story. This starts when Garrett and the others show up at Bastian’s and ends before Underground does.
This book feels too short, and honestly it is short, but there’s so much that we already know about the situation surrounding these two. I wish Ms. Stalder would have spent a little more time giving us some background information on these two. I know that there is quite a bit, but it felt like it was all glossed over, as though this was information privy to the readers beforehand. The story is still solid and it helps to increase the world and the characters in it.
Ms. Stalder’s newest installment in the New World universe gives us an understanding of a very unusual and fast relationship that develops between Pixie and Bastian. I’m really curious about the next books in this series and how they’re going to accomplish their goals. Would I recommend this book? I would, it’s short and sweet and it answers quite a few questions that crop up during Underground.
This was a great followup to Underground! I was happy to Sebastian Black and Pixie's side of the story since it was so unusual in the book. It's a definite must-read after Underground!
