It is Christmastime in Pleasant Valley and Albert is ready to usher in the season. This year he's got an important surprise for his friends -- Santa Claus is making a visit to their hometown. But it's not just for fun and games, this is one of Santa's official stops. And that means Albert and his friends have just twelve minutes to feed the reindeer and wax their antlers, squeegee the windshield on the sleigh, and do everything else before all of Santa's systems are go. Then it's countdown to liftoff, with a special thanks from Santa to all of his helpers.
It was cute, the pictures were good, but over all average satisfaction with the story. It's hard to figure out exactly why, but something felt lacking. It wasn't bad, but I'm not likely to reread it and it wouldn't be at the top of my list of recommendations.
This is an entertaining story that combines the excitement of a NASCAR pit stop with Christmas Eve fun. I had no idea what this story was about when I borrowed it from the library and as I am not a car racing fan, I'm not sure I would've borrowed it if I had known. Still, it's an entertaining tale with bold, colorful illustrations and a fun rhyming narrative. We enjoyed reading this book together.
