One day Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy are walking in the deep, deep woods when they meet up with a police officer who's crying. Someone has left a note on his door telling him to arrest Mr. Hooligooly -- but he doesn't know why! Raggedy Ann and Andy soon uncover the culprit: a magician who is scheming to get Mr. Hooligooly's magic cooking stick. it's up to the Raggedys to foil the magician's plans -- before his magic tricks turn everyone into pigs! This new Raggedy Ann adventure, adapted from Johnny Gruelle's classic tale, shines with the humor and spirit of everyone's favorite rag doll. Jan Palmer's bright, cheerful illustrations are a perfect match for this rollicking tale about pigs, pancakes, and the magic of friendship.
Johnny Gruelle was an American artist, political cartoonist, children's book author and illustrator (and even songwriter). He is known as the creator of Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. He had such confidence in his design that often he would create the final ink work without first sketching in pencil.
Another wonderful adventure of goodness and kindness trumping meanness and wickedness ... lots of magical happenings, funny stories, and lots and lots of kind wishes. A great fantasy for children, filled with good ideas for how to live a happy life.
This was a gift for my daughter. I am not familiar with the Raggedy Ann stories, but would love to read some more. This was a very fun story and my daughter loved it. I wasn't sure if she would be ready for it, because it has more text then some books we have been reading. She was enthralled. This is from a series called My first Raggedy Ann. It is adapted from the story by Johnny Gruelle. Johnny Gruelle is the creator of Raggedy Ann and Andy.
Another fun romp with Raggedy Ann and her friends. The stories of the "bad guy" capturing one or more of the dolls, the escape, the dolls capturing the "bad guy" and he escapes ... get a bit redundant ... but it's all good fun and I enjoy reading them.
