Tish is a college student and lead singer in her locally successful band. She lives at home, comes from a very nice family who dotes on her, and she's loved by everyone. Almost everyone. She has a class with Sebastian, a hot guy who doesn't seem to like her. When her band mate and good friend, Tom, decides to take a job out-of-state, Sebastian shows up to audition as his replacement. Tish is dazzled by his talent but questions whether he's a good fit because of his past unpleasantness toward her

I think I am a bit obsessed. Okay, I am. I know I am. This series! Ugh. I want to eat it up. I do pretty much eat it up. I start reading and then I just cannot stop. This is frustrating on those days that I cannot just sit and read continuously and it's so annoying to have to stop. And start. And stop. And start.
If you read this story, here is my caution: prepare for your heart to be yanked around like a yo-yo.

This book should come with a warning: Take out your heart, throw it on the ground, and stomp on it a few times. Then, pick it up, clean it off, and embrace it fiercely. What an emotional ride! From the first line—“I hated Sebastian almost the first moment I saw him.” —this book grabbed me and didn’t let go. Trish, Tom, Sebastian and the Marauders took the main stage, with guest appearances by Ani (you may remember her as the leading lady from book 1 in The Fallout Series) and various loving and

This is the second book in the Fallout series, but it is about a different set of characters. It can be read as a standalone.
Tish Ransome is a guitarist and the lead singer for the Marauders. When her best friend and the co-founder of the band tells her he is leaving, Tish needs to find a replacement. She knows that replacement is Sebastian Jeffries as soon as she hears him play.

This is book 2 in the fallout series but as it follows a different main set of characters it really could be read as a standalone. (I would highly recommend getting book 1 though because it is amazing AND it is free).
This story is a little deeper than book 1 and touches on some darker subjects such as abuse but it is handled beautifully. So powerful that your heart just goes out to these characters and you find yourself frantically turning the pages to see how things are going to work out.

Tish and Tom have been best friends and bandmates for years now but he is also in love with her. Tom is moving away and the Marauders have to replace him but Tish doesn't expect the replacement to be broody Sebastian Jefferies from one of her classes.
I enjoyed all the complex relationships in the story and the important underlying message of encouragement to victims of abuse. Great follow up on Ani and Paulo from book 1 of the series as well! Good read!

When I first started this book, I thought, "oh no.....a rock band - not my thing." Then I realized I could make it any band I wanted with any type of music I wanted - in my mind. After going back to the 60's to get in the right frame of mind, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I was totally surprised as I got towards the end of the book. Never expected the 'outcome' to be what it was...not going to describe it because it would be a spoiler...The book deals with helping someone who is homeless; someo

I only made it to 60% through sheer will. I really tried because generally I love stories based around musicians and bands, but this just didn't do it for me. I couldn't connect and like the characters. While I enjoying learning when reading fiction, I like the life lessons to be subtle. This felt like i was being forced to learn a lesson, being told what I should learn. I just didn't enjoy being preached to, no matter how valuable the topic.

As everybody knows by now, I am a fan of YA Paranormal, but I do have a tendency to step outside of my comfort zone and read other genres.
I enjoyed reading the first book in this series, so of course, I was curious on what this second book was about....
I must say that this is the perfect cover and title for this story. This author has captured my attention just by reeling me in with the cover alone. The title was magnificently chosen to fit the story, yet not giving anything away....

I enjoyed this book. When I first read the book blurb, I was expecting a young woman already in the grasp of stardom with experience, trying to reach of new place with her music. What I got, which was good, but unexpected, was an older college band with experience at dinners, local gigs, and school events, going through a period of change with one important band member needing to be replaced. The book was good because it was relatable, especially for the new adult audience, it just took me a lit

O...kay. I'd like to stick to my usual nice and organizational system to review A Light in the Dark by author Becky Doughty, but I'm not going to be able to do that. The novel had me sobbing so hard toward the end of it that a bunch of my previous notes on the book don't seem like they matter much now.
Tish and Sebastian's story drew me in and entertained me at various levels, particularly as an artist and as a romantic. But then, beyond the characters' initial family and friendship threads, beyo ...more

Doughty continues her Fallout series with “A Light in the Dark.” She takes us on a wild ride of love, betrayal, suffering of mental and physical abuse and survival due to love, faith and friendship. A stand-alone book in her series, she introduces us to a group of new characters who are friends with Ani, the main character of the first book. They are replacing a member of the band and the elusive Sebastian comes into their lives. T ...more

Ok, I've done it. It's a five star book. I loved it. It was so clean, and had all the elements I love. Romance, love triangles, mystery, all with great writing, and editing. I'm SO sad I have to wait for the third one. But it is preordered. Yay!

Becky Doughty is the author of the award-winning Elderberry Croft series and the voice behind BraveHeart Audiobooks. "I write fiction, mainly because nonfiction is hard! Yes, I've tried. Let's just say I like to color outside the lines when it comes to sticking to facts...or anything else, for that matter. I write Women's Fiction with strong elements of romance and Young Adult/New Adult Fiction. S
