The death match with Maré leaves Stella drained. Slipping in and out of consciousness, she relives the traumatic events of the airline crash. Was Stella's white-haired bully really on the same plane? And what was in the strange box she saw with him?
Did you and I meet a long time ago? Maybe on an airplane...?
Stella's doubts about Tsukito, her white-haired bodyguard, resurface...Is her returning memory a Pandora's box?
...and perhaps a hundred others have died at his hand.
She debuted in 1987 with Natsufuku no Erii (Jap: 夏服のエリー) on the manga anthology Bessatsu Hana to Yume published by Hakusensha. She is best known for her gothic manga works, such as the Earl Cain series (Jap: 伯爵カイン, Hakushaku Cain) and Angel Sanctuary (Jap: 天使禁猟区, Tenshi Kinryōku)
Her work is typically serialized in one of Hakusensha's two shōjo manga anthologies, Bessatsu Hana to Yume and Hana to Yume. In 2010, Kaori Yuki was one of many manga artists whose work would appear in the new shōjo manga anthology Aria by the publisher Kodansha on July 28, 2010. Her doujinshi-ka name is MoonClock.
I would admit the artwork and the story telling in Alice in Murderland vol.4 is confusing at times, still the plots and the mysteries about Stella's lost childhood are thickening and getting more intensive. Also, the author now blocks seemingly every loophole to allow the siblings' escape from their death match. What will happen next?
I like how part of the White Rabbit's secret is explained in this volume, although I found it rather cliche for the White Rabbit to . I like how it's hinted that the siblings' father may not be as loyal as he appears to be toward his wife, . I also like how one of Stella's older brother reacts to Stella, I suspect this other older brother, Sol (Mare's twin) may not be as sunny and cheerful as he appears to be after all.
Plus what the hell is the siblings' mother talking about when she tells Setlla: "You want to kill me? Let's make yourself Queen first! You have seen nothing of Hell and desperation yet!"
Now I remember...hadn't the original Alice once became Queen in Through the Looking Glass? Curiouser and curiouser!
Next, let's talk about the downside of this volume: the story telling is confusing in parts, some of the artwork isn't as great as before, still I'm willing to overlook these flaws and enjoy the story.
PS: still I need to rant about this: Miss Yuki! I adore you and your series but seriously? You can't change a person's DNA and make them into bandersnatches by feeding him/her some magical medicine!
PSS: I just found out 'Bandersnatch' is actually fictional creature from Through the Looking Glass! Miss Yuki surprises me again!
I enjoyed this volume better than the last 3. We finally are getting some background story which makes more sense and the characters are growing on me. I do find the action and progress still choppy in some places but its easier to follow than in volume 1 & 2. I am actually looking forward to reading the next volume to meet some new characters and see more of the back story to this crazy "family"
Man, I loved Marè but in the end Alice defeated him with his own weapon, which was pretty awesome^^ I like the development of Sol. Now his twin and partner is dead and he has nothing to lose anymore. He can only gain. I'm also quite intrigued what is up with Tsukito. The sword was amazing and I want to know his story *.*
I really like this series; it's not normally my "thing" but it just keeps getting weirder and weirder. I simply can't put it down! I definitely recommend this Manga Series.
