The second book in the Agent Rawlings series has me wondering about the mind of the author...lol.
Wow, this was a twisted case of cannibalism and the author was not afraid to add some details. This one will not be for everyone but it was so interesting and a fast listen. Agent Rawlings and his new partner Beth are sent to investigate when some women are found dead. (Not for the faint of heart!)
Prostitutes are showing up dead it mirrors some deaths from along time ago, so they have to figure out if it's the same killer who came back or if someone is copying the earlier killer. Even though you get to know who the killer is and are surprised at who one of the guys are that helps the killer, it still has bit of a shocking ending.
I really like Agent Rawlings and Agent Harper they work well together and have already been through some interesting things together. Agent Rawlings is married and we get a little of that side of his life too, for example, they were going to be going on vacation and they had to cancel when he got his assignment. Takes a good woman to not get all upset and go with the flow of his job.
I really enjoyed this one and soon I will be listening to book three and can't wait to see what else these two can get into.

OMG! Just when Agent Rawlings thinks it can’t get worse, it does. This story uncovers a family of serial killers AND the unthinkable things they do with the bodies. Hank and his FBI cohort spend concentrated effort to connect the evidence. The process is detailed and meticulous. It may take just one little piece of evidence to guide them onto the correct path.

FBI Agents Hank Rawlings and Beth Harper are again paired up to face pure evil in, "Consumed", from author E.H. Reinhard. The second book in this series sends Rawlings/ Harper off to Tennessee for a grisly case of women being found in parts. SK-28 from the early 1980's has either garnered a copycat, or his hiatus is over. (SK- Serial Killer). Three hookers have been found all in different degrees of parts. The newest victims were scattered in and around woods of Nashville area. The original 1980's serial killer killed and cut up eight women. With the three new bodies discovered, upping the body count now to eleven. Rawlings/ Harper get very little support from local sheriff's department. Nashville's local FBI office can spare just one man. Each of the three new victims had a tattoo of a moon with stars behind one ear. The Tattoo marked the property of pimp Terrance Knightley. (Knightley-moon & stars !). Seemingly the key to these serial killings, and dismemberments trace back the family of Owen Matheson. Owen was declared dead in absentia back in 1989. Owen's wife was also declared dead in absentia in 1995. What the FBI must figure out is, whatever became of the two sons the Matheson's left behind ?. When the medical examiner detects some of the bones had been boiled, and most likely cannibalism had occurred, the case gets weirder. At a very brisk reading of about 210 pages this story was riveting. Rawlings and Harper make a pretty good team investigating. Hank's old boss Carl Kane even makes a small cameo in the story. This one has some strange twists and turns to be sure. At times the story made me cringe at details discovered. Author E. H. Reinhard has found an excellent protagonist in Hank Rawlings. Starting out in the Carl Kane series, and graduating into his own series has been pretty seamless. The dialog and characters help carry the suspense throughout. Giving the ending a lot of thought, I was surprised and relieved with conclusion. Five stars out of a possible five stars. Both series from E.H. Reinhard have been excellent reads. I've already moved onto the third Hank Rawling book in series. Enjoyable and thought provoking suspense reading. I wonder if what happens in this book really does go on ? Tough to think about.

Not my favorite
I had to give a 4 but it should be a 3.25. The author has a highly unbelievable storg and tells it in a plodding way that describes every single aspect of every single thing. Tedious. The consumed part is just plain gross and the detailed style is ultra-unwanted here especially. So I finished the book and maybe other readers will, too, but don't look for any depth in the characters. It's not that bad of a book although IMHO , it is tedious, shallow and lacking insight into any character's motivation. Why did these crimes get committed? What made the criminals behave this way? Make up your own ideas. The good news is that I found no typing or grammar errors.

this shouldn’t have been written
I read it. I should’ve stopped after less than 50 pages. Horribly brutal topic for no reason. There is no explanation of why this “person” took this horrific path. There are no real surprises. No exciting moments. Almost no reason to recommend reading this book except it’s included in kindle unlimited. Skip it. I deliberately left out subject matter. Please do not find out.

Dismembered women's bodies showing signs of cannibalism are showing up by the side of the road in rural Tennessee, same as thirty years ago. Agent Hank Rawlings and his partner Beth Harper from the FBI are sent to investigate, finding some gory evidence and a disinterested local police presence. The horrors they find will haunt them for a long time.
This was an interesting crime thriller, a bit on the graphic side, but fascinating in a gruesome way. We get points of view from both Agent Hank as well as the killer so you get to be completely repulsed by one while rooting for the other to catch him as soon as possible. I thought there was a little more detail than strictly necessary about the every mundane action the characters took but the characters themselves were fairly well written and the story a page-turner. This is the first book I've read by this author and though it's the second book in a series, I had no problem with it as a standalone book. I'll be looking for this author again!

Consumed, Book 2 in this exciting new series begins as Drained, Book 1 in the series did, with the reader knowing who the serial killer is from the very beginning. This seems to be SOP with E.H. Reinhard, at least for this series of stories. It works well for him too. What keeps the reader glued to the edge of their seats and turning the pages is the chase. The chase it takes FBI Agent Hank Rawlings and his partner, Agent Beth Harper, on.
I loved this book, but this book is not for the squeamish or faint of heart. The Antagonist in Consumed reminded me a great deal of a character from the movies “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” or “Deliverance.” Maybe even a touch of the classic Psycho. If you are into blood and guts the way I am, you’ll consume Consumed. Consumed is best consumed on an empty stomach. Convoluted, unpredictable, scary, haunting, cannibalistic, and twisted. The plot that drives Consumed is all those things and more.
This is a must read for those that love a good police procedural that’s filled with blood and guts.

I haven't written a review on here for a little while. I read one really bad book, and I've read some really good books, but this book really was incredible. Incredible enough for me to take the time to write a review. This book consumed me from the first page. It was extremely hard to put down, and the twist at the end of the book had my heart pounding! I stayed up past my bedtime because I was 89% into the book according to my Kindle and it was so intense that there was absolutely no way I could go to sleep without finishing the book last night. For anybody who likes psychotic thrillers with an incredible twist needs to read this book! I am definitely getting more from this offer.

Gruesome killings
What's there to say? The killing of over fifty prostitutes, cannibalism, psychotic breaks and a mother is dead,. Violence witnessed from a young age could do the trick. The one sibling that tried to escape couldn't avoid helping his brother get rid of the victims and participate in the cannibalism acts. The killer started his killing spree following his father example at age 16, no remorse but a clear mind when recounting his deeds. FBI agents Hank and Beth couldn't count the corpses fast enough while guiding their investigation. What a thriller!

Blood curdling
You need a strong stomach to get through the grisly details in this well written procedural. Very nasty and confronting case that leads to a shocking end. Well developed characters, good teamwork. Again, the writing style can be a little pedantic for me (a lot of little details filled in, details that are either - for me - superfluous or something I'd rather discover/fill in for myself). That said, it's a strong, well written story that keeps the reader engaged until the last page. Recommended.

Good story lines
I'm a bit of a grammar, spelling, and punctuation nut - my friends call me the Fakebook grammar police - and I'm often unable to finish books that have multiple glaring errors. These books read well, are often hard to put down due to the suspense, but the writing is often a little verbose. And a bit of editing to make the reading little easier. For instance, rather than using the word "guys" in multiple consecutive sentences, change the descriptive pronoun. Still gets 4 stars though, because of the stories themselves. I've read several already, and have another queued up already.

Story keeps building...
Until the very end! Catching killers is what Rawlings does, but this one kills ladies of the night. The killer has a sheriff for a brother, who looks the other way knowing full well what is going on with his brother. FBI agent Rawlings and partner unravels the mystery of missing hookers little by little, but not knowing what happens to the bodies till the very end. If you like great descriptions of what is happening and how Rawlings and partner figure it all out, you will love this book.

An intense story
I'm not sure exactly what to say about this book. On one hand, it was a complex and intriguing story, but on the other, it was extremely graphic. Normally, the graphic part wouldn't bother me at all. However, the graphics in this book were beyond nauseating. It didn't help that I was getting ready to fix dinner a little bit after I began reading this story, which didn't happen by the way. Overall, it was a great story, but I really could have done without the extremely graphic descriptions.
I would recommend this book, series, and author.

You need to have a strong stomach. A 360 lb uneducated, ignorant, psychotic, cannibalistic ignoramus is killing to eat as well as fun. It’s well written other than everyone incorrectly ends their sentences with “at”; which drives me crazy. I don’t know if it’s the author or ALL of his characters that never learned you don’t end a sentence with a preposition. Lord knows I had that beaten into me….

FBI Agent Hank Rawlings and his partner, Beth, are assigned to a grisly case when bodies start turning up, not just dead bodies but, with limbs missing, apparently sawn off post mortem. As each day passes more and more bodies are found. Whilst the case is gruesome local authorities, namely the Sheriff's department , don't seem to be very interested in looking into matters. Is this some sort of conspiracy?

Consumed - don't try to guess, just read the book!
I'm glad I finished this book before... nevermind. Author E.H. Reinhardt has written an extremely strange book! I promise you may not want to finish it, but if you don't, you'll go back and enjoy some more. Seriously, this is a great story - I mean, who doesn't enjoy a little strange in your leisure reading. I can hardly wait to read what else FBI Agent Hank Rawlings might dig up as the series unfolds. - Mr.Bill

I'm vegan. I am horrified at the possibility of eating an innocent animal. So imagine - eating prostitutes. I didn't seem to know where this was going so I stumbled into the first description. After that, I scanned over those. Gag. I was so hung up on the idea of cannibalism that I really didn't care what happened to the characters.
I'm sure it's a good book for most of the public. I'm just a wee bit too sensitive.

Grisly
The by-the-book police procedure gives it a realistic feel that, juxtaposed with the grisly nature, made it sort of touch into horror. That added an intensity to the story that otherwise didn’t really have any twists or surprises. Overall pretty enjoyable and interesting read.

Gruesome
I found parts of the book hard to stomach and that wasn't meant to be a pun. The writing style sometimes feels too descriptive... " opened the door......switched on the light" type of stuff ; although it can help to set the scene, it was a bit overloaded. I hadn't read a Reinhard book before, but I will try another one.

Gross, but non-stop action
It got a 5 star for nonstop page turning action. Be advised that it is totally gut wrenching gross though. It has a lot of specific background descriptions that I usually can't stand but it's forgiven by the fast pace of the book. Enjoy, if you can hold your lunch down!

"Graphic and disturbing"
The title says it all. I'm not partial to a gore fest, but this is still a gritty police procedural and ticks all the boxes on that score. I would certainly read more from this author.

Disturbing
I hung on every gyt churning word. Beth and Hank make for a great team. They're hot on the trail of a serial killer. The killer leaves bodies ( arms and legs removed), by the side of the road. They work the case to a gruesome end. This is what nightmares are made of.

Very creepy
Excellent procedural with Tennessee ties. I wondered why the author was using an inaccurate county name when other details were so spot-on, but as the story unfolded, I understood.

Wow! Pass the meat
Almost stopped reading after 3 chapters. Glad I pressed on. You will hate the guilty but, cheer for the FBI as you explore the depths of the characters. Very well written mystery.

Not what I expected!
Hank is looking for a serial killer who is cutting up his victims and leaving them on the side of the road. Good book for an afternoon read. I really like this author and have read a few of his books.

This book was a good mystery, but the subject was kind of gross. If you don't have a strong stomach, you might want to just skip on to the next book. The title of the book tells you what he did with his murder victims.

This book was really disturbing. Not only was the killer a serial killer but a cannable also. The ending was kind of anticlimactic and flat. But I do love the author and look forward to read more from him.
