Hayvan okumalarım kapsamında listeye aldığım bir kitaptı ve severek okudum. A dan Z ye sözlük dizininde çeşitli kavramları ele alıyor. Ama kitabın başlığındaki sorunun cevabını vermediğini hatta kitabın başlığı ile hiç alakalı olmadığını da belirteyim.

With essays organized alphabetically from A-Z, this is a cheeky mock-encyclopedia that also light-heartedly makes fun of what humans claim to know, and especially claim to know about non-human-beings.
Unfortunately, this book is in fact written by a human. Worse yet, it’s translated from one human language to another. Despite the title, you won’t find out what animals would really say if we were able to ask the right questions.

This book is extraordinary. Vinciane Despret is a philosopher who watches humans who watch animals. The book is split into 26 chapters, one for each letter of the alphabet. Each chapter has a theme, but they are all held together by an acute, brilliantly researched, and clear critique of research on animals by (western) humans. You are invited to read it in any order (I chose a favourite pangram to direct it).
