Nothing shines like classic cars under the Miami heat. With engines revving hot and emotions running high, sparks are sure to fly . . .

Tori Chazov isn't exactly the girl next door. For one, if the neighbors found out she's an FBI asset and the daughter of a KGB defector, she'd have to grab her go bag and run. Then there's her day job: making magic happen under the hood of

Shift brings us to the world of undercover FBI, hired assassins, sexy computer nerds, and kickass mechanics. But now their past has finally caught up to them and Tori needs the help of Emery, the teams go to tech guy, if she wants to protect herself and her sister. Shift is the second book in the Hot Rides series by Sidney Bristol. The first book in the series, Drive, centered around the couple Aiden and Madison and introduced readers to this group that works out of a classic car garage that is a front for an FBI operation. Shift now picks up the story a couple months after the end of the first book and centers around Tori and Emery so even if you haven't read the first in the series this one would read find as a standalone novel.

The geek gets the girl. Or course, this geek is totally hot but it’s not readily obvious, which is refreshing. Sidney Bristol does a great job creating very real and unique characters with both Emery Martin and Tori Chazov. Tori, who’s been crushing on Emery for ages, doesn’t realize that under that computer whiz exterior lurks a lust-worthy body. Emery is conversationally challenged. His monosyllabic answers make it hard to get to know him. His focus on his computers is so absolute that Tori do ...more

YAY! I love Sidney Bristol and her Hot Rides series especially this book feeds my loves romance, fast cars, and computers. (I really can't wait until her Beauty and the Geek comes out) A group of people under contract to the FBI with one purpose to take down Michael Evers. But with him in jail now and no word from the FBI powers that be everyone is just waiting around for the other shoe to drop. It drops, it drops in the form of Russian assassins out to kill the two daughter for forme

After the slow disaster of the first book in the series, which was read very close to this one for clarity purposes, I didn't hold much hope for this story. Sadly, it was as bad as I had feared it would be.

The book was once again very slow moving, which made it suffer early on, even with it b

Classic Rides may be their legitimate business to the outside world, allowing all of the team to remain "hidden," but Emery's job tends to keep him separated from them as you can usually find him in his own little fortress, surrounded by his computers, doing what he needs to do to keep his teammates safe.

Emery, thanks to a certain set of skills that landed him in trouble, now secretly works for the FBI as an agent and field tech. Although, his job isn't quite the usual per the emplo

Oh, what an emotional journey these books take us on ... I loved the first in the series, but I think I might even like this one more! I certainly would recommend that you read them in order, as there is background that makes a difference - although I am sure it would be a great read even on its own.

I like strong women, and both Tori and her twin sister have been that since they were tiny. She has fallen for Emery, the

This was an enjoyable read, it just starts out a bit slow. Once it hits about 25% though the action picks up and it becomes more fast paced. I’ve not read book one and this can be read as a stand-alone.

Emery is the computer geek on the team of FBI agents undercover as the Hot Rides crew. Tori is the mechanic on the team and has always secretly had a thing for Emery, what she doesn’t realize is that he also has the sam

I really enjoyed this one. It started out a bit slow for me but once the action got started I couldn't put it down. I love the Hot Rides crew and Tori and Roni were great in this story. Then there is the yummy computer geek Emery (sigh). Tori always knew that her past could catch up with her one day but why now! Life is good and running just doesn't feel right but a Russian hit squad has arrived in Miami and the only hope Tori and Roni have lays in the hands of Emery. Who knew the computer tech ...more

Loved the action! The romance is sweet and hot! And! Tori and Emery and all the members of the team are great! This one flowed a bit better for me than the first book, and I loved all of the computer hacker stuff. The group are having to deal with 3 different sets of bad guys: Russians, a gang, and some drug dealing mob type people. Some good suspense! Emery and Tori have a great connection. Love how much he wants to support Tori and will do whatever he needs to do to keep her safe and once they ...more

I'd really this rated a two and a half stars. I like that author takes her characters out of traditional roles often found in action stories. Emery is a geek and Tori a mechanic. He does show himself to have ass kicking abilities but it's his geek skills that feature. Tori is totally able to look after herself, and will jump into danger to protect those she loves.
That said the storyline didn't really grab me, but I liked it enough that I will probably read the others in the series.
Rating more accurately between 2 and 3. Decidedly meh. Sex scenes were okay, plot and pacing were just okay. Best was dynamic between protagonists, bit even so, felt like I was skimming something about two people I barely knew and waiting for something interesting, which never arrived. Not bad, just never grabbed me.

Sidney Bristol is a new author to me and Shift is the second book of the Hot Rides Series. This story can be read as a standalone, but I think reading the first installment of Hot Rides would give you a better background.

Tori Chazov isn’t her real name, but to keep her and her sister alive they have to attract little attention as possible, but for Tori that becomes a bit difficult when she shows off her mad skills of being a woman mechanic when Emery strolls in.

Shift once again brings us into the undercover lives of several FBI agents and more. While deep undercover these folks also get to play around with and work on some smokin’ hot cars… a dream come true for many folks.

Tori is a mechanic at the garage, she’s also on the run from a Russian hit squad – and they’ve located her and her sister. If there can be a good part in this it’s that now she’s getting the chance to get up close and personal with the agent she’s been cr

Fast and Furious but with an FBI undercover feature is what came to mind as I read this book.

The Hot Rides team is undercover in a muscle garage that provides classic cars, sometimes flips stolen cars and is involved with street racing activities. Their tech guru is Emery Martin. Most people on the street think he is a money launderer and as such a go-to guy for many bad guys in the area. When Emery finds out a Russian team of assassins are being sent to kill Tori and Roni Chazov, his teammates

This is the second book in the Hot Rides series. While I thought it was a little bit better than the first book it still was a little slow in the beginning. But it did eventually pick up. Also the story line became confusing at times because there are so many pieces to this story line. Although the first one did not necessarily end on a cliffhanger, I think it does help if you read it. This story is a combination of suspense and romance. The premise is you have a group of people who work secretl ...more

Shift is the second book in the Hot Rides series by Sidney Bristol. The first book Drive, introduces Aiden and his team, who work at a classic car garage that is also a front for their FBI operations. Shift is the second book of a series featuring a team of undercover FBI operatives in Miami. This book focuses on the “Walking Brain” Emery Martin. He’s the team’s tech genius, who is also overly infatuated with teammate and mechanic, Tori Chazov. Tori and her twin, Roni, have been on the run most of their lives due to their deceased father, who was a former KGB agent. Word on the street is that a Russian hit team is looking to take out Tori and Roni, but Emery will not let that happen, especial ...more

Emery is a technical genius, knows nearly everything there is to know about his entire team and has a secret crush on Tori. He's the strong, silent computer nerd, but he's got another trick up his sleeve...he's also a field agent and good at putting away the bad guys. Tori's an FBI asset, mechanic and street racer. Her father was closely tied to the Russian mob. When Dad's past comes to eliminate Tori's future, Emery intercepts the intel. With no help (or apparent concern) from his team leader, ...more

I have always had a soft spot for fast cars and hot men. Goes back to my younger days when I most definitely had a lead foot and will always love a sexy man especially one who knows his way around computer.

And if he always happens to know his way around a woman's body so much the better. Emery is definitely not what one thinks of as a geek as he can also get down and dirty with his hands or a gun. And he will use whatever is needed to keep Tori safe. When he finds out that there is a hit team

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Emery isn’t your typical computer genius. He also has serious FBI field skills. However he is very introverted and lacks social skills. When he is “in the zone” he is oblivious to all around him.

Tori is a former spy, turned very talented auto mechanic, working for the FBI. She is intense, independent and very capable of taking care of herself.

Tori and Emery have been dancing around each other for awhile. When Tori makes her move, neither c

I felt this book was a little slow to start, it took me about 20% to really get into and then it was hard to put down. I did like that we met these characters in Drive, but we didn’t really learn much about them until now. Let’s hear it for the nerds! Tech savvy Emery Martin’s got the hots for a dangerously exciting woman on his team. He has no idea if she reciprocates the feelings, or if she even knows he’s alive. It takes some scary Russian hitmen chasing after Tori with orders to get the information out of her or else for him to realize his opportunity might be passing him by.

Tori Chazov never thought the Walking Brain of their group would notice her. In fact, he see

Overall, I enjoyed this one. A hit team is out for the twins, Tori and Roni, but Emery is not going to let them near if he has anything to say about it. He has had feelings for Tori for a long time, bordering on obsession, and now the team has scattered across the state and now he is left to do what he does best, gather information and then formulate a plan. However, the FBI is not going to back them up and Emery and Tori go on the run. Who knew The Walking Brain was so sexy and could fight and ...more
