I Had a Cat is a beautifully illustrated picture book for preschoolers. The simple rhyming text tells the story of a young girl swamped with too many animals. She manages to find homes for all of them, some at the zoo and some at a farm, before returning home to her cat. The pictures are a little zany, with plenty of interesting details.
