The Best Man

Rate this book
Veronica Webber is single again after being in a loveless marriage way past its expiration date. For the first time in a very long time, she feels free and after being burned so badly by love in the past, any thought of romance is the last thing on her mind.

In walks a man from her past, Trevor Allen, a tall, dark, and handsome womanizer who is usually all about the bottom line. For Trevor that bottom line has always been made up of the countless notches on his bedpost. But when he sees Veronica after so many years, he can’t help but be drawn to her and know her again… even if that means being friend-zoned from the start.

As this unlikely pair spends more and more time together, they quickly realize that there might be something between them that goes past "just friends." But there’s just one tiny detail that makes this situation slightly more complicated… Trevor was Veronica’s ex-husband’s best man at their wedding nine years ago.

So when past mistakes and indiscretions come back to haunt them, will their happily ever after end before it even gets started?

Or will the best man win this time.

The Best Man was a fun, sexy, and sweet story! I loved Barbie’s take on ‘The Best Man’ and how it was thrown into this story-line. It made for a highly entertaining and slightly angsty read that I enjoyed very much.

Veronica Webber is recently divorced and now living in the big city. She’s starting over and doing things on her own terms. One night, she decides to go out on her own and she gets a blast from the past at the bar she’s at. Trevor Allen is there. Trevor used to be good friends with Vern’s ex. In fact, he was the best man at their wedding.

What Veronica doesn't know, is that from the first time Trevor laid eyes on Veronica, almost a decade ago, she left a strong and lasting impression. Trevor is a bit of a ladies man and doesn’t really do relationships, but he and Veronica become close friends. The feelings that Trevor has always had for Vern come boiling close to the surface…
I’ve heard that half the battle was admitting when you had a problem. So here I was admitting that I had a problem, and it was this: I was in over my head with Veronica.

It was great to see Veronica and Trevor together. I loved their banter, the way their friendship grew, and the chemistry they had was palpable. It’s a bit taboo to start something in these circumstances, but Vern and Trevor can’t help the way they feel.

There is a bit of angst towards the end, but nothing too over the top. The drama was just enough to keep you fully engaged. I loved the way Trevor went to win Vern back after he screwed up. Heck, I just loved Trevor period! Veronica was great, too.

If you’re looking for a book that’s a lot of fun, has some steam and some laughs, I recommend giving this one a go!

”Now who’s the best man?”

Barbie Bohrman delivers a unique twist on “the best man” scenario storyline that made for an enjoyable, sweet, and sexy read. Trevor Allen had gotten socks knocked off at the sight of a gorgeous woman at his college graduation party. Just seconds before he’s ready to put the moves on her, his college best friend, Daniel introduces her as his fiancée.

The story is told in alternate povs as the author then takes us nine years into the present where our once confident heroine has finalized her divorce and is trying to make a new start in Manhattan. Veronica is a very likable heroine who adores disco music and one night out on the town runs into the best man from her wedding.

Trevor and Veronica are a ton of fun together as he tries to be a friend to her all the while fighting the great pull that has always been there.

”I wanted to believe that he wouldn’t break me. I wanted to believe that he would keep me safe and hold all my best interests to heart. He had proved that as a friend already, but now, we were in uncharted waters.”

Sadly Trevor does have a secret that has the potential the longer he keeps it to destroy what they have built together.

The story is written with Barbie’s trademark humor that does briefly introduce Trevor’s two brothers whom I’m excited about reading as well, Jack and Max.

4.25 Bestest Man Stars

The first time Trevor Allen spotted Veronica Webber across a crowded graduation party, it was major lust at first sight. Being a manho of the first caliber meant Trevor wasn’t concerned about the ifs of getting his femme fatale into bed, only how long it might take.

There was just one problem.

“Veronica, this is Trevor.” Daniel then turned to me. “Trevor, this is Veronica.” He paused thoughtfully as I continued to stare into her perfect almond-shaped eyes, and then he finally added, “My fiancé.”

Yep, the unknown hottie came with a fiancé who also happened to be Trevor’s best friend, which meant all plans of an attempted hook up went out the window.

Fast forward seven years and Veronica and her hubby have gone their separate ways. Turns out douchebag hubby thought it was a good idea to sleep with any and all willing women, while Veronica just wasn't down with that. Whatcha gonna do?

Trevor’s also managed to drop his jerk ex-bestie from his life, so when he spots Veronica at a crowded bar in NYC, he’s not quite sure if he should try and talk to her or just leave her alone. One chase through the streets of New York and a drunken night of karaoke later, the two are fast on their way to becoming friends.

Just friends.

I absolutely adored Trevor and Veronica together. From attracted to each other friends to can’t keep their hands to themselves lovers, these two had me hooked. It wasn’t a magical transformation by any means. Veronica learned of Trevor’s many revolving bed partners when she first married the douche, so he had his work cut out for him when he finally got ready to convince his gal that she should take a chance on him. Veronica, on the other hand, knew firsthand what getting cheated on felt like and she had no desire to go through it again.

The beauty of Best Man is the journey this couple takes to their eventual happily ever after. They really did start off as just friends, even though they both thought about jumping the others bones, and it gave the book a slow burn kind of feel I’ve come to appreciate.

When they finally did decide that naked time was a good idea?

My only issue was with the handling of the eventual conflict. I appreciate the way the author let the reader know early on what the obstacle was, I just felt it was wrapped up a little too quickly for my tastes when the conflict finally came to light.

Best Man is a wonderful first entry to the Allen Brothers series. Barbie Bohrman’s left us a nice little trail of breadcrumbs as far as story setup for the next book goes, but I’m a little confused as to the third Allen Brothers book. Looks like I have something to look forward to.

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

9 years ago man-ho extraordinaire Trevor locks eyes with a beautiful woman at his graduation party. He is in lust from the first moment. A couple seconds later his hopes to score are dashed. The lady is his best friend's fiance.

9 years later Veronica has moved back to New York after her divorce from Daniel. Her ex-husband had cheated on her for most of their marriage. To celebrate her three-months anniversary of being in New York she wants to celebrate with her best friend and a girl's night out at a bar. Her friend however, had to cancel last minute so Veronica decides to go alone. She didn't expect to run into her ex' friend and best man at their wedding. Her first instinct is to run but Trevor offers her a night of fun and friendship and Veronica accepts. But can the womanizer really do friendships without getting in her panties?

"What I do want to make my business is making sure you’re okay. I know that sounds crazy, because trust me, it sounds fucking crazy even to me right now. But, I swear it’s the God’s honest truth.”
The corners of her almond-shaped eyes tilted up as the rest of her face started to relax. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have assumed you were—”
“A dick?”
“No! I wasn’t going to say that, Trevor.”
“Why not? It’s true. I am a dick. A big one.”

Trevor was the highlight of this quick story. He is adorable when he finds himself confused by his feelings for Veronica. He is a cocky arrogant guy who uses women for pleasure and when he realizes he is falling for this woman he is completely out of his element.

I was ridiculously off-the-charts attracted to her physically. Had been since the very first time I met her. That part was easy to figure out. But there was a lot more stuff going on in my head when it came to her. And “stuff” was just a copout for me not to outright admit to myself that I had fucking feelings whenever I thought about her or talked to her.

Veronica is cautious, which is understandable after her marriage but she enjoys her friendship with Trevor and starts to see a different side of him, the caring and sweet one. I liked her well enough but I found her to be a little bit bland. I expected somebody with a little bit more fire and spirit. Still, she was a likable heroine and didn't let people walk over her, which I appreciated.

This is a fun and sexy romance on the lighter side of the spectrum. It does get a little bit angsty further in the book and as always it's secrets and the keeper of them being too much of a chickenshit to give it up. I loved all the Disco and 70's music references. At some point I wanted to slap Trevor but he got his head straight really fast so he may be forgiven.

If you like a quick and sexy read to take you away from the super angsty ones this one is definitely for you. I'm looking forward to seeing what Barbie Bohrman has in store for Max!

“Because all I see is you. All I want is you. All I need is you.
And if you open this door right here, right now, Veronica, I swear to you that I will do whatever it takes to make it up to you. I promise, I’ll never hurt you again.”

Overall Opinion: Man! I really struggled with this one! I wanted to like it, because the premise was pretty unique and it instantly made me want to read it -- but sadly it just didn't work out for me. The pacing was probably my biggest complaint. I felt it lagged way too much. I wouldn't even say it was the "slow burn" (they don't even kiss until 62%) that bothered me -- it was the fact that I felt like NOTHING seems to happen in the first half of the book! It's all inner dialogue! The constant inner dialogue continues throughout the rest of the book too! After the half-way mark I skimmed most of that inner dialogue (which happened to be a lot) and didn't feel like I really missed anything of importance. I never really connected with the characters, so having them go on and on about the (seemingly) same repetitive thoughts got old quick! I also thought that the big secret reveal and drama that followed was resolved way to easily and also kind of ridiculously tbh. I really was just pushing myself to finish the book so much that I really didn't care all that much about the easy resolution or the fact that we get a lackluster epilogue. Bummer too, because I think it could've been really cute :(

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Veronica and Trevor's story. They meet through Veronica's fiancé who happens to be Trevor's best friend at the time. Trevor is even the best man in their wedding. Years and a divorce later, they bump into each other at a bar. They end up starting a friendship that eventually turns into more. There are some sexy times, some secrets revealed, and they fall in love... and get a hfn ending.

POV: This alternated between Veronica and Trevor's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Not good. I skimmed a lot!! See overall opinion above for more about my issues with the pacing.

Instalove: No. Instalust? Yes.

H rating: 3 stars. Trevor. He was ok. He really needed to communicate better at times.

h rating: 3 stars. Veronica. She was ok. I wanted her to have more of a backbone at times.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story (I actually skimmed a good bit of these too).

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Not technically

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This didn't have enough closure for my liking, but tbh I was so done that I wasn't all that upset with the fact that it is a HFN ending.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one should be either Safe or Safe with exception depending on personal preferences for most safety gang readers.

4 stars!

I really enjoyed this book. A friends-to-lovers story with a delicious twist, it’s funny, heartfelt, hot and romantic with characters that you can’t help but fall for. Such a fun read, I loved it!

Veronica is fresh from a recent divorce after a very unhappy marriage and she has moved to NYC to get a fresh start. Coming out from under the thumb of her husband and her controlling mother, she is determined to get out and life her life the way she wants. I love Veronica. She’s smart, sensible and infinitely relatable – from the very first chapter from her POV, I knew she was a kindred spirit…

Typically, “letting my hair down” meant that I would sit in front of the television and binge-watch HGTV for hours at a time. Many a weekend since the divorce had been spent this way. My obsession with Chip and Joanna Gaines had reached epic proportions by now. To the point that I seriously contemplated moving to Waco, Tx before settling on New York.

Trevor is a cocky, arrogant manwhore with a wicked sense of humour. He doesn’t do relationships, and he revels in his business success, his ease with women and his seemingly charmed life. There is a touch of douchery about him, but he totally owns it and I found his frankness, sarcastic wit and unabashed overconfidence hilariously charming.

Let’s be honest, folks, there was no way I was going to find a woman in a bar, defile her to the verge of utter filth, and then all of a sudden be overcome with the urge to want to marry her and make babies. It was never going to happen.

When Veronica bravely heads out for a night on the town, she runs into Trevor. Their eyes lock, there is a spark there, but the twist is – he was the best man at her wedding 9 years ago. But that doesn’t stop them from enjoying an evening out together. They haven’t seen each other in years, and Trevor’s friendship with Veronica’s ex has fallen away, but he’s always had a thing for her. Not wanting to push anything on her but still wanting to be a part of her life, he proposes friendship, and there is lots of banter, fun and innocent flirting as they get to know each other again and grow close.

Since when did I have…Jesus, I could barely bring myself to think it. Since when did I have feelings?
Or a conscience, I guess it what it’s called too. I’m not sure because I’ve never fucking had one before when it came to a woman.

Trevor has never wanted a relationship and Veronica is definitely not ready for one, and even though they both try to keep things strictly friendly, it doesn’t stop the chemistry between them and the simmering attraction that builds with each encounter.

I’ve heard that half the battle was admitting when you had a problem. So here I was admitting that I had a problem, and it was this: I was in over my head with Veronica.
But I’d be damned if I was going to stop.

The romance develops really nicely. It’s easy, fun and sweet and so, so hot – with a perfect balance of deep emotion and mad lust - and as hard as they tried to resist, I loved watching these two fall for each other against the odds.

It was everything: a culmination of a secret yearning for this woman who, for every fucking day we had spent together, every single phone call, every text, had no idea how much she was changing me to be a better man for her.

“All I see is you. All I want is you. All I need is you.”

But their past connection makes their situation a little bit awkward, and then there’s the fact that Trevor has a secret that he hasn’t shared with Veronica - one that could potentially ruin everything.

I loved this book. It’s lots of fun, the romance is gorgeous, and the drama that is there is realistic and not overdone, adding a great edge to the story, and it’s handled really well. The character development is really nicely done, and I fell in love right alongside Trevor and Veronica, and was cheering for them to get their happy ending.

“I swore … that I wouldn’t let you just walk out of my life again. I was prepared to be your friend no matter what, Veronica. But the rest of it, it was there all along. It was waiting for us to meet in another time, another place…and here we are.”

“You’re mine, Veronica…and I’m yours.”

The other highlight of the book for me was the camaraderie between Trevor and his brothers. They are all great guys and their constant teasing was so funny!

“Good luck, and remember that your family only loves you because we have to. Veronica is not your family.”

I love Barbie’s writing, and once again she has delivered a wonderfully entertaining read that kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved Trevor and Veronica, and their story, and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this series.

4 stars.

The Best Man by Barbie Bohrman is a refreshing, sweet and sexy story that easily blends friendship, love, and second chances. Bohrman held my attention as she put a fun twist in this contemporary romance as she created a story of two acquaintances reuniting and discovering that second chances do exist.

Veronica Webber is a newly singled divorced woman. Starting over means getting back in the dating scene and so when she runs into Trevor Allen, the best man from her wedding, she never expected to find herself developing a friendship with him. As Trevor and Veronica easily forms a friendship, they soon find themselves falling for each other. But what happens when past indiscretion and a disgruntled ex comes back into the picture threatening their relationship? Will Trevor be able to show Veronica that he is indeed the best man for her and her heart?

This is the first book that I have read from Barbie Bohrman and it surely won’t be the last. I love that this story was an easy read that didn’t have any unwanted angst and drama. Everything flowed at an excellent pace and in such allowed proper character development. So if you are looking for a fun and sexy read then look no further than this book.

The Best Man is a new series of books that are about the Allen Brothers. I believe that they are all standalones that intertwine. I will tell you this much, I plan to read them all! This is my second read by Barbie Bohrman; she delivered a second book that I couldn’t put down. I needed to see if Trent and Veronica would get the HEA they deserve.

Do you ever read a book and instantly think of the perfect song for those characters? When you read The Best Man you’ll have to tell me if you think of Say You Won’t Let Go by James Arthur. I’m telling you this song was on repeat in my head. I have admit that I’m absolutely crushing on that tune right now.

Trent Allen is the love em and leave em them type, or at least he has been for the last 31 years. That is until a woman from his past reappears. This isn’t just any woman. This is the one that caught his eye instantly on the night of his college graduation, and he knew right then that she was different. Only to be told that she is his best friend’s fiancé. WHAT! NO! How could this beautiful, smart and witty woman be engaged to him?

Veronica Webber recently divorced her cheating husband and made the decision to move back to the city she loves. With a last minute cancellation from her best friend she decides to still go out to the local bar for a drink. That one drink happens to bring the one man she’s only heard stories about back into her life.

This is what happens when you get to know someone on your own, tuning out the stories that you’ve heard about them, all the preconceived notions. This is what happens when you finally meet the right person at the right time. I really hope that we will see more of Tent and Veronica in future books.

Read it!

4 The Right Man Crowns

I’ve always enjoyed Barbie Bohrman’s books (seriously, if you haven’t picked up Promise Me or Playing It Safe, do that now). They have strong heroines, sexy as heck alpha males, and the stories are always entertaining. The Best Man is more of the same.

Readers will enjoy the character of Veronica. She is straight up classy. From how she dresses, to how she acts, to her interactions with others, readers will just adore this heroine. What is also impressive about her character is her willingness to take another chance on love, even after being let down the first time. She isn’t stupid, though, and walks away when required.

Trevor is the typical egotistical manwhore readers have met a million times; however, as the novel progresses, Barbie Bohrman makes him more. Trevor begins to show readers what is underneath all his hotness and bravado, and they will love it. One of the sexiest things about him is his humor and laid back attitude, and when he talks about his nieces!! Swoon!

I really enjoyed the pacing of this book. Barbie Bohrman takes her time in developing these two as friends before moving to the romance, which is absolutely required given their background. This part of the story is really fun, but the plot explodes when they finally connect. Of course, someone throws a wrench in the plans, but it is a conflict that is not insurmountable, even though it is resolved a little quickly and tarnishes a beloved character a bit. The author, though, brings it all back home with the resolution.

The Best Man by Barbie Bohrman is another entertaining romance. With its fun characters, blazing chemistry, and well-written story-line, it is a book to one-click.

Veronica and Trevor had an interesting story. I really liked that the forbidden aspect of it was both in the past and also impacting their current relationship. Usually, the forbidden is no longer an issue once enough time has passed or the situation changes...but in this case, it is still there years later.

Veronica and Trevor have a past. He was the best man at her wedding...and now that the marriage has fallen apart, there is an attraction there that they are able to pursue. But, they both question if it is ok, or if maybe it is not appropriate as there was such a history.

I liked the idea that in order to pursue it, they had to decide that their past was less important than what they wanted for their future. I liked that a lot of the book was their building of their friendship, that they started here and built from there.

I thought there was a little too much drama with the ex, and I thought that it really detracted from the central relationship especially when it finally became a more-than-friends connection. I thought there was a little too much time spent with the ex and that it hindered the development of their romantic relationship. I also thought the revelations from the past were not really necessary as there was enough issue with just the idea that she had to learn to trust, and then fall in love, with the best man of her ex husband.

The writing was strong, the characters were believable. The pacing was overall good, with just the issue with the ex detracting from the overall story.

I recommend this book.

This is my first book by Barbie Bohrman and right away I'm intrigued. How she would approach to this "best man" scenario, how she would play it. My first impression of Trevor Allen is not the best though. He's cocky and a player, pretty douchey too from his spiel alone. But then he gets stunned by the dazzling woman he must approach. Cue record scratch, it's his friends fiancée. Oops time to backtrack and off limits for now.

Fast forward to nine years later we get the jist of what happened to Veronica in that time and her divorce. I can't even with her mom (not that it's new) so major props to her for sticking up for what she wants. Now this is a cute and a bit awkward, out to celebrate by her lonesome she bumps into who else but Trevor. He isn't a good guy, but he will be for her this one time. Thus the start of a unlikely friendship. Veronica is cool and likable, also vulnerable. I like that she doesn't take shit anymore.

Seriously at least Trevor acknowledges what a dbag and cocky jerk he is, at least he can be nice when he wants to be. Veronica is delightful person with a sense of humor. I really found her likable, with all her disco loving and HGTV loving self. The chemistry is there but it's still a complicated situation. Oh yeah add that pesky detail, Trevor is hiding, which is pretty terrible. A bit of roadblock there. He needs to have his game face on to win the woman of his dreams or maybe grow up a little.

The Best Man was quite enjoyable, sweet with touches of humor and sexy. I like the author's writing engaging and she made it fun, her main characters were interesting too. It had slight angst not really noticeable, oh and the nasty ex business. I'm quite curious about the other Allen brother Max we got a glimpses of here.

Review by Lisa Kane

Trevor Allen first thought when he spotted Veronica across the room was that he had to have her. Now. This minute. But then Daniel Spencer introduced her as his fiancee.

Years have gone by and Veronica is now divorced from her cheating louse of a husband, Daniel. She's doing her best starting over-new job, new apartment, new attitude. So when she runs into Trevor Allen at a bar and he's been a witness to an embarrassing encounter she
just wants to get the hell of out there. Only Trevor isn't going to let her go that easily. If anything, she's even more gorgeous than she was years ago.

Trevor Allen, the best man from my wedding. Somehow finding out that he was a witness to this tonight-my first night out in forever-made me feel even crappier about it all.

For some reason Daniel always made a point of telling Veronica how much of a player Trevor was so when it turns out he's a nice guy-she's not sure which version to believe.

Trevor has never wanted to be in a relationship with a woman. He's always enjoyed playing the field but he has to admit to himself, that is getting a little old. Veronica makes him want more from his life, more than his work, more than his own company.

Veronica was burnt so badly she's not sure she can ever trust a man again.

I wanted to believe that he wouldn't break me. I wanted to believe that he would keep me safe and hold all of my best interests to heart.

To say her ex is a creep is to underestimate creeps. He is evil and nasty and will hurt her just for the hell of it.

I barked out a laugh. "You're going to have to do better than that, Daniel. Because I've seen how you treated your wife when she was your wife."

He is spiteful and will go to any lengths to make everyone around him miserable.

"So you tell me, does he really give a shit about you now?"

If only he was real and if only I had a nice pointy boot to shove up his arse!

As I said that, the feeling in the pit of my stomach grew more desperate. I could sense that any moment, the other shoe was going to fucking drop.

Veronica has finally found a peace within herself. She's living her life not the life everyone thought she should live. There's no way she is going to let heartache back in. Trevor has his work cut out for him!

I had changed too. She had changed me, for the better.

I have read a few books from this author and this one is the best so far. I really enjoyed this book. I really liked Veronica and Trevor. Trevor was a playboy but he was really a good guy once he met Veronica. I like that even though he wanted her, he was really committed to being her friend because that what she needed at the time. I also liked Veronica. She was really everything I like in a heroine. The chemistry between the these two was off the charts. I knew Trevor should have listened to his brother and it was going to come back on him but I really like how the conflict in the story was resolved. I definitely recommend this book.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

I loved this book...
I know maybe people will have a problem with Trevor because of his previously man whore ways, but I loved him

This book was funny and HOT and I loved the chemistry between Veronica and Trevor. Their relationship started as Veronica made it clear that she doesn't want a relationship with him she only wanted a friend.
And Trevor even though he has been attracted to her since he first met her when she was dating his friend thought that it would be okay to go along with this idea.

But the more time they spent together the more he got to know her and she got to know him the more she finds out that he's not actually the person he seems to be. There is more to him than meets the eye. And Trevor finds out that Veronica is exactly the person he always thought she was.

Will Veronica's past issues with trust keep them from their happily ever after or will it be the 'secret' that Trevor is hiding

Definitely an awesome book and good start to this series. Can't wait for the next one.

Pretty much going to make this short and sweet. I enjoyed this story but I felt it was a little too insta love for me. I know Trevor and Veronica have a past history but I would have liked a slower burn between the two characters. We had some funny moments, a meddling mother who couldn't take a hint and of course ex-husband drama. This is the perfect book to read after a heavy read and you need to regroup. Overall I was left satisfied with this book and looking forward to continuing the series.

Another great read from Barbie Bohrman!I've read her other book-Something More Than This and I loved it, and I was hoping this one also wouldn't disappoint. My favorite part about her books and writing are the characters, and the way they develop along with the relationships between them.

In The Best Man we have Trevor and Veronica.Trevor used to be Veronica's ex-husband's close friend/buddy and was the best man at their wedding. They never interacted much then.Trevor was and still is the quintessential playboy and when he had laid eyes on Veronica at a party for the first time, he had known he wanted her, only to find out that she was taken by Daniel.

But now when he runs into her after so many years and sees that she is freshly divorced and free, there is nothing that will stop him from getting to know her, even if they have to be friends for it.
But once they start getting close to each other, will they be able to make it past secrets and jealous ex-husbands?

The best part about this book was how Trevor and Veronica became friends, and then it slowly progressed from there to a relationship. It was a gradual but beautiful development. And even though the playboy(who has never been commited)falling-for-this-special-girl-routine might be a little cliche, it was done in a believable manner.Trevor never expected to fall for Veronica and neither did Veronica expect to fall in love again, but somehow it happened. :)

The mix of humor with romance, steam and swoonworthy moments that had me giggling or going aww was really enjoyable!Trevor's family was another really great addition.I loved meeting his brothers and his love for his nieces was adorable! Now, his other brother Max is another bigger version of pre-Veronica Trevor!I can't wait to see how his story goes!

The Best Man is a light and fun read with likeable characters, witty banter, and laughter inducing text messages. This friends-to-lovers tale, hailed as a romantic comedy, was charming and enjoyable.

There was an obvious chemistry between Veronica and Trevor despite their determination to keep the relationship in the friend-zone. Watching them fight the pull was frustrating but watching them succumb to the magnetism made it worthwhile in this slow-burning romance.

I don’t generally gravitate toward rom-coms but the promise of friends-to-lovers reeled me in. Bohrman did a great job of writing organic humor that did not read like some of the simulated rom-com’s I’ve encountered in the past. There was no eye-rolling or annoyance with fabricated comedy so kudos to the author.

I enjoyed this first installment of the Allen brothers series from Bohrman and I am looking forward to the next one slated to release August 2017.

Overall Rating: 3 Stars

Trevor and Veronica!!
What a perfect match they make and I love every single thing about them.
I was kind of intrigued with the plot of the best man have a crush on the bride. And it is way more interesting years later when the now divorced ex-bride accidentally meets again with the before-mentioned best man.

I like Veronica and I feel her right along from the start when she is trying to enjoy her freedom but failing to do so with the annoying Craig butting in. And I'm really glad she met Trevor that night. I enjoyed watching her friendship with Trevor and I especially love it when their relationship gradually turns into more. I totally love the texting part!

Now, let me talk about Trevorrrrr.
I am super liking his character and I'm not quite sure why.
Maybe it's because the way he is so attracted to Veronica and the way he treats her so patiently sweet just makes my heart go mushy.
He is also so protective of her and I couldn't help the satisfaction that I felt when he punched Vern's ex-husband. I really dislike Daniel the cheating A-hole and maybe also the mother.

I found myself really like Trevor's siblings and I'm looking forward to read Max's story next.
All in all, I think the book is really worth a read because you will get to feel the good romance along with the characters and I swear it also have few funny moments that I laughed out aloud.
This book is without a doubt, absolutely a 5-Star-Read! ❤❤❤

I'll say it again, I'm a huge fan of friends to lovers stories. So,I was really looking forward to reading The Best Man. Trevor was the best man at Veronica's wedding. Now she is divorced and living in the city. A chance meeting might mean a chance at love for them. I wanted to love this story. I did like it, I just didn't love it.

My favorite part of the story was Veronica. I loved how she got on with her life and stood up for herself no matter what. It took a lot of guts to walk away from her cheating ex-husband a start over. I was even buying into her friendship with Trevor. I liked how they hung out and got to know each other before giving into the attraction. Had it stayed like that, I would have loved it.

The thing that made the book lose a star for me was Trevor. When he reveals to the reader what he knew about Veronica's ex-husband and what he helped him do, I just lost any respect for him. His justifications were just so weak, I just couldn't get past it. I also thought Veronica gave in way too fast. I'm not saying it's a bad story, it was just that one thing that I got hung up on. The writing is good and the plot moves along quickly. It's just something I couldn't personally get past and that is on me. I do want to read Max's book next. He had me intrigued.

When I read the summery of Barbie Bohrman’s book The Best Man some of my prejudiced tendencies came out to play, but I will be the first to admit I was wrong. I thought this book would be the classic and cliché “guy falls for best friends girl” story but this book delivered a twist on the best man trope that I didn’t expect.

The night of Trevor Allen’s college graduation party, he sees a gorgeous woman who knocks his socks off. However as he goes to introduce himself, he is shocked when his best friend Daniel introduces the beautiful woman Veronica as his fiancée.

The story picks up in the present, nine years after that party, where Veronica is now divorced and starting a new life in NYC. On her first night out on the town, she runs into Trevor, the man who was the best man at her wedding but someone she hasn’t seen in a long time. Trevor decides to show Veronica a good time, while still being just friends. Even though both his mind and body is interested in much more.

The story is written in alternate POVs and it is interesting to read, especially Trevor’s insights into their growing friendship. Furthermore it is also great to experience the slow buildup of a relationship between a self-proclaimed ladies’ man and a woman who has been hurt in the past.

This book is so well written and funny, I sometimes had tears running down my face. All of this makes this book a 4.5 star read for me.

This was a fun, cute friends-to-lovers story, with a little bit of angst thrown in for good measure. Trevor and Veronica know each other in passing from years ago, with Veronica making more of an impression on Trevor than she ever knew. Having run across each other again a friendship blossoms, with Trevor still harboring an attraction for Veronica, one that hasn't waned in all the years since their first meeting. Not wanting to cause any waves he puts his attraction aside and they settle into an easy friendship...until their chemistry can no longer be denied.

I enjoyed the slow burn of this story, that things between them weren't rushed- their relationship progressed naturally and organically. I liked these two together- the banter, the friendship, it was all really sweet. But I had a really hard time when Trevor's secret was finally revealed- it almost caused me to not want to continue reading, it bothered me that much. It's one of those things that's tough to reconcile, but because I really did like these two I had to kind of gloss over it.

All in all this is a light, easy, enjoyable read. It just goes to show you that good things do come to those who wait!

4* read.
This is my first book by this author and I have to admit I actually enjoyed this book alot more then I thought I would. I enjoyed the unique twist this story had and the gripping story that I just couldn't put down. The chemistry between Trevor and Veronica was hot and the added humour and drama just made this a great read. Watching them evolve as a reader was very entrapping and I found myself wanting to hurry to the next page just to see where it went next.
I can't wait to read more from this author.

5 stars... Because karmic revenge is the best thing since sliced bread. Trevor met Veronica years back but she was engaged to his then best friend Daniel. When he runs into her years later and she's not only more beautiful than ever but single, he thinks twice about the mistake he made. The only
Problem is his conscience is telling him to back off... He was the best man at their wedding after all. Veronica is trying to get a redo on life and do the things that she missed on while Daniel was getting his jollies off. When she sees Trevor she realizes that she needs a friend and it evolves from there. Seriously, I was rooting for them from the get go. Once Trevor stopped thinking like a bachelor things got Good but Jesus, dude, get over yourself!!! 18 year old me sat down on a red bean bag the entire time, sipping wine and clapping for Veronica... everyone in life needs a redo.

The moment Trevor Allen saw Veronica Webber, he knew she was different. He knew he had to have her. Which is saying a lot because he was a one and done type of man. He had woman begging for a romp in and out of the sheets. There’s one problem though when it comes to Veronica.. she is engaged to his best friend Daniel. That’s okay though, because 9 years later he will get his chance to make up for lost time. Veronica finally divorced her lying cheating ass of a husband and moved to New York City. After 3 months of settling at her new apartment and new job she goes out and celebrates. Imagine her and Trevor’s surprise that they run into each other. Veronica want’s nothing to do with him, but Trevor has his own agenda. Even if just being friends is all he will ever get from Vern, he will take it and not complain. Not matter how much he desperately wants her and how much his large cock aches to be inside her. Trevor promises to never hurt Veronica, except when he makes the promise he keeps forgetting one BIG secret that should of been told from the very start. Now he’s noticing that maybe Veronica might like him more than friends – FINALLY – but he doesn’t know if his big bomb of a secret should be told. Hopefully he will admit his wrongs before someone else does, or else he will lose Veronica all over again like he did 9 years ago.

Veronica was the perfect bombshell that stopped men in their tracks. How she ever married Daniel is beyond anyone, including herself. He was the up most douchebag. Veronica definitely wants nothing to do with his best friend Trevor. Especially since Trevor was the Best Man in their wedding all those years ago. But as days go on, Veronica finds herself wanting to hang out with Trevor again, and liking the fact that they text often. She could use another friend in the city, she doesn’t have many. What she does not need is a boyfriend or a bed side lover. Until lines become crossed and her heart has no idea what it wants. Would it really be that wrong to fall for her ex husbands best man? She probably would of said no, up until she found out Trevor’s secret. Maybe staying friends, or nothing at all is what’s best for them.

I genuinely was pleased with this book. Not only do we get to see a woman with a shattered heart pick herself back up again, but we also get to see a man with an ego the size of New York City itself get taken down a peg or two with Veronica’s beauty. Veronica once was the confident, outgoing woman that other females would love to be, but with her divorce and unloyal ex-husband she became weak and soft spoken. Being friends with Trevor brought back that Independent woman side. As for Trevor he is your typical playboy book boyfriend. Never settling down nor having his bed empty either. The only thought he ever had of being a one woman man was when he say Veronica 9 years ago, and then the thoughts appeared again when he saw her at the bar alone in present day. He may of tried to be with other women since becoming friends with Veronica, but his dick has other plans for him and it involves his heart too.

This fresh friendship was perfect for each other. Pulling out the best qualities in each other and finally showing what fun a man and woman can do – in and out of the bedroom. I was pleased with this book and will try my hardest to patiently wait for the next book in the series to be released. I’ll let you in on a little secret – I won’t be patient ❤

Check out The Better Man book #2 in the Allen Brothers series about Trevor’s brother Max. Coming out too far away which is August 1st, 2017.
