The author is a bishop after the model of the Church Fathers. He knows how to teach without ever letting on that he's teaching, how to preach without ever getting preachy. He tells real-life stories-sometimes comic, sometimes bittersweet- that takes us to the depths and heights of Christian faith. Give this book to people you like best.
Thomas Joseph Tobin (born April 1, 1948) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He is the Bishop of Providence, Rhode Island. Tobin is known for his conservative views and pro-life teachings.
I received a copy of this book from a First Reads Goodreads Giveaway.
This is a collection of essays written by the author. They are thematically arranged. The essays are fine but dated pretty much throughout since the author consistently refers to Pope John Paul II. The original copyright is 2001 which explains it so I don't exactly know why this was a fairly recent giveaway.
The topics are relevant and the writing in each essay very understandable.
