Cute story for 1st and 2nd graders learning how to read. Students can read it on their own or with a friend for fun.

Self-to-text connections. What connections do the students have with the girl who gets her hair cut? Have they ever been emarassed by a haircut?

Cause-and-effect- Have students tell you what the cause-and-effect of this story is. Bad haircut caused girl to get embarrassed.

This book would be great for first or second grade students. Students will be able to relate to this book especially if they ever gave themselves a bad haircut or have memories of a cut they hated. Personally, I clearly remember when my mom accidentally dyed my hair orange when I was in middle school.

This was cute, but I wasn't a real fan of the storyline. Just because a girl has a short haircut doesn't necessarily make her look like a boy.
