I liked outsiders. I didn't immensely enjoy it, I was too busy rolling my eyes at a lot of things but I do believe that around the end of the book, things started to actually become interesting and for that, I wouldn't mind reading the sequels.

The contemporary part of the story wasn't anything new. But the plot about the whole alien thing did pick up my interest.

I liked the diversity of the characters in the story. Jaylen is bl

Stunning cover, not so stunning book. When it's a Paranormal book of course it has a lot of coolness, an action packed plot or creepinessbut turned out NOT ALL Paranormal books are like this. I tried liking this book but I failed. Outsiders is the first book that I read that has an alien concepts and I don't know if that affected my dislike of this book.

I received a physical copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. First of all, I’d like to thank the author for shipping the book to another continent for me. I’m happy I had the chance to read Outsiders!
It’s a young adult fantasy with elements of action and sci-fi. If I had to compare it to something, I’d say Twilight + I Am Number Four (but without the silliness and vampires). What I mean is the mysterious tone, the small town setting, new school, new girl, dark secrets, and romantic s

Normally I do a little recap of the novel but I'm going to skip that as I don't want to give any spoilers away for this book. You need to read it for yourself. It's just an awesome read. The author's writing is easy to follow and flows great. The way she wrote her characters make them feel real.

I love that the author wasn't afraid to make her character different. Jaylen is an atheist and I think it's fantastic to see that in a YA book. Most people skip that or just don't mention religion but th

My friend Temecka who blogs at Library of Tomes received a review copy of this and after talking to her about this book, I decided that it might be up my ally and I wanted to give it a shot. So, I contacted the author and got a review copy. Now to the review...

I had quite a few issues with this book, the main one being that it was really a just childish and full of teenage drama. For those of you that are keeping tabs on me, you know that I am trying to veer away from Young Adult literature bec

"But I'm beginning to realise that we've connected because whatever I am, she is too."

I loved this! It was a perfect combination of everything I love in YA. It had romance (I am a giant sop when it comes to romance), it had action, it had originality plus an awesome, kick ass main character.

I loved Jaylen, I think she is the perfect character for this book. She's strong, well spoken and has an 'I don't need a man' attitude, that is of course until Michael comes along. I feel like I ca
Wow. Outsiders had me hooked from the very start. After finishing the Hush, Hush saga, I needed something to read. I saw Outsiders sitting there, so I began reading.

Jaylen really doesn't fit in, until she discovers that she isn't alone at her new school. She's always been different, but she finds others like her.

Outsiders is a great book. It really took my mind off reality, which has been a struggle for the past few days. I didn't stop reading until I finished.

Who's curiosity isn't peeked by aliens??? So, this book is about Jaylen and her struggles with who she is and those around her. She knows she's not like your typical teen, what with her unexplainable abilities. She also struggles with losing the people she cares about. When she is transferred to a new school something very strange happens. She feels familiar with others that she knows nothing about! Sh

I received a free ebook version of the book in exchange for an honest opinion, thank you Tammy Ferebee.
When I started reading this book, I was drawn by the mystery of it. Hated by animals? This sure must suck. It's 2 am now and I am really tired yet here I was finishing the book cause I really wanted to see what happens next. There were good parts and bad parts. I trusted some characters but they turned out to be the exact opposite. And what saddens me is that a new adventure starts in the end a

I really enjoyed this book! It captured me right from the start giving me a Lux series vibe that I loved! The characters were extremely diverse making this such a unique and fun read! I also loved the slang to the way the characters spoke. The only two issues I had with this book is towards the middle it felt a bit instalovey, and I wanted to see a little less contemporary and a little more of the scifi element of the book. That being said it was still a really good book! I do plan to put a full ...more

This is a new release book. It was only released on September 25, 2015.

Jaylen Hayes may be a seventeen year old girl, but she has always known that she is somehow different from other girls her age.

Being super-smart certainly doesn't help her feel like a typical teenager. Throw in the fact that Jaylen never gets sick, wild animals seem to hate her and the

I was expecting to really like Tammy Ferebee's Outsiders. The description sounded really interesting and I was excited to read a book that held a number of diverse main characters.

I just wasn't into it. I really did love the story line and premise. I think it is a really strong debut novel. But, the whole thing just didn't do it for me. I thought the pacing was out of wack. It wasn't until around 65-70% into the novel that anything started happening. Up until that point it was

Here is my full review on this book. I have updated it since I read it, but my feelings have not changed:

I actually LOVE the use of the creature of this book. It's hard for me to find a book with this focus that I like. I didn't feel like it took from any other plots;however, I feel like there were some things that I felt like needed to be answered that were kind of pushed aside. I didn't like the usage of modern pop culture (aka the walking dead and

Well I am literally lost for words. I have just finished this novel and now I have to attempt to organised all my crazy thoughts and emotions into writing a great review - because it was literally that brilliant! I was sent this for free in exchange for an honest review. This book started off very mysterious, making me want to know what this crazy medical condition the main character has, and wanting to know what the weird vibes were that she kept thinking about. I don't want to say what book series this reminded me off because it would ruin the mystery. But it was amazing, never boring, easy to read, & very few typo's. This is one of the annoying boring books I have read. There is absolute nothing compelling about this story. The characters are weak, the plot is weak, and even the romance is weak. Yeah, there is a little action here and there, but it doesn't affect the plot or pacing. It is like an action scene happened, instead of characters figuring things out or even reacting to it, they go back to their boring life like nothing happened. Man, i am grateful that I only paid a dollar for this book. If I had ...more

First off, I want to thank the author for allowing me to read this wonderful book!

In my book reviews I normally start off with a synopsis of the book I read, but this is the type of book that is so much better when you go into it blind.

At first, the beginning of the book dragged a little for me, so I had to take a break from it for a few months. After I took a break from it fo

This book was super interesting and intriguing at the beginning, it really pulls you right in to the characters' world. After a couple of chapters though, the cringing starts. First off I really need to applaud this book for how greatly diverse it is. The main character is a black. The other two main characters are mixed and Dominican. This book felt really real for me. This is the type of ethnic environment I grew up in.The language used felt appropriate. I don’t ever see this in books of this genre.

The book also had some religious diversity. When I heard that the main character was an Atheist I immediately wanted to read this.I have not read enough books with an at

Being a teenager in senior year of high school is hard enough trying being from another world. Jaylen has suffered a family tragedy and feels lost and alone. Things are about to change in a big way for her, when she walks into first period at Trinity High and starts to actual feel a connection to others. First, she meets the beautiful but very mysterious Indigo, who quickly becomes her best friend? Second, she connects with the h

Jaylen’s always known she’s different. Moving to a new town, she finds others like her, and hopes they can tell her what she is exactly.

Outsiders was a young adult paranormal romance, though this book lovingly waltzed the line of a few genres.

This was a refreshingly diverse book. At times it was a little too in-your-face with it, but only in the first few chapters until everyone was introduced.

I’m a subbie on this author’s YouTube channel which is how I found out about this book. I was a little apprehensive about reading it because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. I’m not a fan of scifi. When I first started reading this I would kinda zone out because it didnt catch my attention like I expected it to but I can honestly say once I got over the first few chapters I was all in like

I just couldn’t get into this. I tried, and I kept reading, thinking that with another chapter or two I’d finally make a connection to at least one of the characters. Unfortunately, I didn’t.

The plot moves a bit too slowly for my taste. I anticipated it being more about what exactly Jaylen is, but that actually seems to more of a sideline. The main part of the plot focuses on typical high school drama. The only difference is th

Let me just say, from the beginning of this book, I was hooked! The plot and the storyline moved quickly and kept me entertained. I told myself over and over as I read this book, that it reminded me of the TV show Roswell, that I was hopelessly addicted to. I think I've found myself addicted to this storyline as well.

Reading along Jaylen's story, I found myself always trying to guess what she was going to

I can not believe I haven’t read this book sooner. I loved every single one of the characters including the antagonist. Every single significant person in this book is very developed and complex. All of them are intriguing and there are definitely a lot more to each of them than just the purpose they serve in this particular novel.
