I absolutely loved this book! I didn't think I would with the dated picture on the cover and the comic-styled pictures at the start of each chapter...also, the plot sounded almost ridiculous with the typical super-hero punchline. However, I was wrong! From the Avengers movie: "[With] Everything that's happening [in the world]...people might just need a little old fashioned."

With that quote, it was great to cheer for the alpha good guy and know that he was going to win in the end. No matter what.

It takes 42 pages for the main plot in this book to get started. At the point I did not care or, for that matter, read page 43.

Not a piece of high literature, perhaps, but not bad. It got a little preachy in places toward the end, but some of the characters were very believable and I found the plot almost disturbingly relevant to current times.

If you are a die-hard Cap fan or are looking for some pre-movie examples of him, I would recommend this read. Otherwise, meh.
