“It’s only romantic when it’s Shakespeare”

Let me just start off by saying that although Rumor Has It may have a rather NA-ish cover, the novel is nothing but sweet and it very much belongs to the ya genre. This story reminded me of Easy A when it started. That factor made me happy and a bit nervous somehow. Nervous because I was fearing that the story will flow just like what happened in the movie. I picked up Rumor Has It mostly for two reasons: 1) it features the fake dating trope! I’m not gonna lie, I adore it and still don’t feel tired of it and 2) it’s written by a Filipino author which is great simply because I haven’t read many books by writers from the Philippines.

Let’s start with the things I liked since I did indeed enjoy this book. First of all, the silly premise. The reasons behind fake dating trope are always bizarre & I think that’s part of its charm.

Eu tava animada pra essa história e gostei dessa ideia meio EASY A encontra TOO ALL THE BOYS, mas acabou que ficou tudo meio apressado (provavelmente pelo tamanho ser curto). Tinha bastante potencial pra me deixar gritando (a louca do fake dating, eu mesma).

Right?! But when you’re already at ease with your drink’s desired temperature, you slowed down and savor each sip because it makes you warm and comfy. You and your hot mug of coffee/tea/chocolate. A

I really love this book, it's cute and sweet, and if you want a book that is certain to make you swoon then pick Rumor Has It. The ship is adorable, the characters amazing and honestly who doesn't just love it when a young adult book is about theater and acting (I know I do). I mean this is Shakespeare, and there is something pretty romantic about that. The book starts out with some fake dating, and if you have a soft spot for this trope then you'll fall in love with Rumo
