Really liked this one... There were a couple things I could have done without, like the horrible nicknames and constant thoughts of Gunnar's ex... But overall this was an enjoyable read.

3 Shifter Stars

Frances 'Frankie' Aleen has had a hard life, coming from the foster system. At twelve years old, something change and she knew she needed to be free. She took off on her own and only settled in Woodland Creek at the age of seventeen, when she was found my Otis Brock, who told her what she was. Now Frankie works at the local bar as a waitress/bartender and visits the local pound daily, in order to help other like herself.

I am a Dobie lover, so just seeing the cover for Running Free by K Webster made this a must read for me. I am so very glad she is the Dobie shifter. I love the supernatural and paranormal world, so let’s see what’s happening in Woodland Creek, Indiana.

Frankie is a 12 year old foster kid, a coming of age young girl who is driven to Run Free.

It’s ten years later and the only person she cares about is an owl shifter named Otis. At least that is what she tells herself. OtisHe is the dad she never ha

This is told in first person. It alternates between Frankie and Gunner's view point. It was easy to follow and the switch between characters was changed as new chapters began.

This had so much potential to be a great book, but it felt rushed. I love the grittiness of the way it was written. I plowed through the first couple of chapters, then it started to feel uncompleted. I felt it was lacking. There was not enough character developement, the setting needed to be better described. The way some p

I received an ARC of "Running Free" from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

WOW, this was my first ever book from K. Webster so I started not knowing what to expect, I was HOOKED right away. 'Running Free' is K. Webster's installment for the "Woodland Creek" collection, a collaboration of 30 authors all writing about 1 little town in Indiana USA, I was intrigued with the concept behind this collection.

I found myself unable to stop reading, from the moment Frankie found herself in her

Is there anything that K. Webster can't write? I honestly don't think there is. She's done it again with a shifter book about a woman who goes by Frankie. She's a shifter and she's changes into a Doberman. She didn't have the easiest life and when she finally settles, she does everything she can to help others so they don't go through what she went through. She's strong, independent, fierce, and cares with her whole heart. She meets a human detective named Gunnar. He's a strong, determined, intr ...more

K Webster always writes the best unconventional romances. Running Away is another wonderfully crafted, quirky, steamy romance. It was so easy to read and I really liked it for how different it was.

Running Free by K. Webster – 4 Stars

“It means that I’ll never love another. That I’ll be one-hundred percent devoted to you. I’ll be yours in every sense of the word.”

So I normally do not read fantasy books but I wanted to give it a try because I love “Give Me Yesterday” by K. Webster and I have to say surprisingly I really enjoyed this book.
The story is about a shifter, Frankie who was in and out of foster homes and eventually ran way and settled in a town of Woodland Creek. She was taken under

Dang you Goodreads and your lack of half stars, this is a 3.5, but so, so much better than a 3 that is why I rounded up.

Running Free is a cute PNR read that will have you giggling, holding your breath, and,. at times, squeezing your things together. While not my favorite PNR ever, it certainly is enjoyable and entertaining.

I really enjoyed Frankie's development from lost and broken adolescent to badass-bartender/orphaned-shifter mentor, even if it was already complete by the time our story sta

WOW Kristi Webster once again as made me read a genre I never would have picked up and once again she has me hooked.
Running Free is a New Shifter Story that takes place in Woodland Creek and what lives there will blow your mind.
This is where we meet Frankie Aleen a young woman who grew up in not so nice circumstances and has settled here with other people like her (shifters) and just trying to live her life.
We meet Gunnar Mason a detective living in Woodland Creek after leaving his old life afte
Running Free begins years after Frankie leaves her foster home and discovers what she really is. She ends up working in a bar and keeping most people at a distance. Until one day when a new cop in town comes around to figure out who is hurting people in town. When Frankie comes into contact with the cop her whole world is turned upside down. She feels more for him than she has for any, but she knows it isn't like her and now she feels she can't have him.

3.5 stars. I struggled to get into the one at first. Premise was interesting and on point, I just had trouble liking Frankie. I enjoyed it more about half way in but it took me awhile to get there. I had to put this one down more than once. Overall, it was ok. I thought a town full of different shifters mixed with humans who didn't know they were shifters makes for great story telling with so many different ways to take it. I'm curious enough to wonder about the rest of the woodland creek shifte ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am a big fan of shifter books, but this is unline any shifter book I have ever read. It is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read.

I loved the characters, while some took a while to grow on me. The characters, their emotions and the experiences they went through are portrayed extremely well. You feel like you are right there with the characters, going through what they are.

This is one of the best shifter books I have read this year.

I loved loved loved this book! I always love K Webster, and paranormal books are my favorites. So I went into this expecting to like it. Even so, I liked it so much more than I thought I would. It reads like she's been writing paranormal forever. Running Free made me feel like I was in the story, like I actually knew the characters. I cannot wait to read the rest of this collection.

I was in the mood for a short read and I was scrolling through my book list and when I saw Running Free, I just decided that it was time to read it. It was the perfect choice and I'm glad that I didn't wait any longer before starting. Running Free is definitely different than the other K. Webster books I've read, but I really liked it!

Frankie is one tough chick - she is hard and rough and not someone who puts up with any crap, but there is more to her than that. She's protective, compassionate,

I wasn’t sure if I was going to read this because I’ve never read about a dog shifter but one of my favorite authors wrote it, so I’m. It sure why I waited so long. I loved it. The characters were fun. Frankie was one bad butt chick and she rocked who she was. Gunner was an awesome lea male and o felt he was perfect for her.

Woodland creek is a series I plan to read more of. I think the whole town had that at home feel vibe and I can’t wait to read more. I can’t beeline I waisted so long to read

Frankie has not had an easy life. The foster families she grew up with were less than loving. At the age of 12 she ran away and had to figure out how to live on her own. She also needed to figure out how to control her gift of being able to shift into her Doberman form. Now that she is older she helps teens who are in the same situation as her.

"Little women like yourself shouldn't be answering the door to the big, bad wolf at two in the morning."

Coming out of a bad situation and relationship, Gunnar Mason thinks he has just met the woman that can turn him every-which-way-but-loose. He has no idea how true that is. Frankie Aleen is different in every way. She is bossy, hot, and has no time for the game of love. Until she meets Gun. He pushes every one of her buttons, including the one that goes straight to her libido.

Welcome to Woodland Creek where everything may seem normal but it is not what it seems.

Frankie is a snarky, no holds barred heroine. She is wild but has a nurturing side. She went through shape shifting at a young age and by herself. She now guides young shape shifters on how to deal with their abilities and how to balance life. Gunner is running from a past. He is not only human but also a detective. Gunner has wanted Frankie from the moment he sets eyes on her.

I don't know what it was about this book that disturbed me that much because it was actually very easy to read and I didn't struggle that much to get into it but I guess compared to the "broken"-series by K. Webster which I really enjoyed this one disappointed me.
And I know you shouldn't compare the books of an author (especially if they are about different topics-like this one) but I just couldn't warm up with the characters.

I will admit that I have not read many shifter books, but when I heard K Webster would be writing one I just knew I had to. I loved Frankie from the start. Her past is painful, but she became such a fierce woman because of it. Not only a woman. When she ran away from her last foster home she discovered her ability to shift into a Doberman. I think the Doberman totally fits Frankies human personality. If she were just human I could see her reincarnating as a Doberman if she were to die.

This was the first book I've read by K. Webster and I must say I was very impressed.

Doberman shifter Frankie Aleen was bounced around from foster home to foster home until she hit out on her own at 12. She was taken in by Owl shifter Otis Brock in Woodland Creek, Indiana. All is well until teenage bodies begin to pile up after being mauled to death. Enter Detective Gunnar Mason he has decided to keep a close eye on Frankie as it seems all the kids had a close relationship with her. What neither
