He’s trying to stay in business.
She’s trying to shut him down.
Only Teddy Roosevelt can bring them together.

Wade Hampton Alexander spiffed up his resort hoping investors will build a fashionable new hotel. He surely doesn’t need some city girl, even a glowing specimen of womanhood, casting aspersions on his spring water.

Delighted with Miss Easterly’s investigation, Presid

The pages of Gilding the Waters is filled with the history and I always find this particular time frame interesting. In one instance it feels “old fashioned”, and in the next, you’re seeing and hearing what is more modern. Cathy has done her research and shows this dynamic well.

The interplay between Mabel and Wade kept me rooting for them one minute then wanting to shake some stubbornness out of them in the next. I enjoyed the transformation of their relationship.

My favorite part of the story

Not many authors can tackle the subject of lost dreams in a way that isn't too heavy handed. Cathy does an amazing job of showing how sometimes God calls us to leave behind the dreams we've invested our lives into, in order to pursue His best for our lives. There is also a theme of what it means to be honest with ourselves and with others. A beautiful, wit filled, love story.

Oh my goodness—talk about “gilding the waters”!! Catherine Richmond has gilded this book with so much wit and charm, that I dare you not to laugh out loud over one of the most delightful novels I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a long, long time. Seldom have I enjoyed such a glorious pairing of opposites in a story so lush with historical tidbits, you feel as if you are there! Totally unique, refreshingly entertaining, Gilding the Waters is a change-of-pace romance that will definitely quench ...more

Gilding the Waters was a wonderful read. As Maybelle and Wade travelled together through Virginia, I also got to experience a time and places that no longer exist. Catherine Richmond has a knack for bringing life to the past.

When's the next book coming?
