The stories by Gracie and Wilson were very good. The one by Cornick was terrible.

This was a compilation of three Regency tales regarding Regency Brides. I don't really know what else to say, everything you need to know is on the cover really. The problem with all short stories is that there are never enough pages to get to grips with the characters or to have a well-developed plot. This book was no different.
The Virtuous Widow - Annie Grace
This book did indeed contain a Virtuous Widow. Everything was pat and nice and obvious, even the 'big' twist at the end. Still, this was the best of the three in my opinion.
My Darling Echo - Gayle Wilson
This book was certainly a book. The premise was interesting and could have been really lovely in a longer and more developed novel, but felt a tad too abrupt in short-story form.
The Rake's Bride - Nicola Cornick
I have read other Nicola Cornick novels before which is probably how I came to own this collection. I found this the most irritating and lacking of the three novels. There were far too many exclamation marks. Everything was exclaimed, even simple sentences that had no reason to be exclaimed. I sort of began to skim read this story and eventually skimming passages turned to missing whole pages. Still, I got the jist. The only positive was Jack's banter.
All three novels were also very similar, not only the Bridal aspect which seemed obvious from the title... but also that there was a loveable child in each novel, the hero fell in love with the child, this made the heroine love the hero...
All three could have worked as full length novels, but as shorts? Nah.

I loved this book - or rather, three novellas in one. Romantic stories to warm the heart, with imperfect-yet-lovable heroes and heroines. I'd recommend it to all lovers of Regency and historical romance.
