Delaneys: The Untamed Years #1

Wild Silver (The Delaneys, #9)

Rate this book
Mysterious, enigmatic Prince Nicholas Savron had the face of a fallen angel, but Silver Delaney knew his devil's beauty was a snare, and she dared not be trapped by it. He understood she'd never yield to him without a struggle, but her hair like dark flame stirred him, her satin skin tempted him irresistibly, and he felt the passion in her reach out and stroke him. Held captive on the riverboat he'd won in a poker game, she was mesmerized by the bold, sensuous sun god who made her tremble, but she refused his demand that she reveal a family secret. She was half Apache, half Delaney, an outcast who treasured loyalty and vowed escape -- even if Nicholas could drive her to the brink of madness with his bold embraces. He dazzled her, wooed his proud warrior woman until she became his quest, his outspoken dream. But once her courage survived a terrifying test, could he make his lovely, wild pagan understand that she was his destiny, the legendary Firebird who would carry him to a heaven that was home in her arms?

О, не, когато героинята насочи деринджър към героя с нареждане под смъртна заплаха да се ожени за нея (а той се потресе от неочакваната радост 😆), не мога да не закръгля звездите нагоре. Не ги пишат вече такива 🤣

“Wild Silver” is the story of Silver and Nicholas.
When Prince Nicholas wants revenge for the death of his cousin Andre, he decides to track down Dominic Delaney only in vain. The search however leads him to Dominic’s cousin, Silver Delaney, the half breed, and he is instantly entranced by the dark haired beauty.
Silver has only known rejection in her childhood- so now when she’s forced to endure her time at a girls’ nunnery, she sneaks out and helps the needy with her knowledge of medicine. Her life is turned upside down when Prince Nicholas comes and threatens not only her peace, but also her heart..
Soon she is kidnapped by the moody and willful prince who cannot let her go, but like the folklore of Firebird, Silver contains a spirit that cannot be tamed- and vows to soar high.
An engaging book with an obsessed hero, strong and willful heroine and loads of passion. I loved Silver in her last book and am so glad she found her perfect soulmate who did not give up on her.
It ends in a sorta HFN with mild cliffy.

And this is supposed to be a bodice ripper? Bah! The hero isn't hard core enough for me. He doesn't have that bodice ripper hero thing that I look for in a BR. He's already too needy and drooling for the heroine the first time they meet. Where's the fun in that? I like my heroes to be a little hard to get. There was actually one scene that had me perking up in the beginning but the hero quickly turned into mush. The book was actually boring me and I don't want to read it anymore. I don't know how you guys do it, but when I'm bored with a book I can't continue to read it with so many books waiting for me in my TBR pile.

This is an awesome book!!! I have re-read this book at least a 15 times now. Not sure if it could be included in the Bodice Ripper pile though. The heroine is sassy and clever. The hero is rich, powerful and ruthless. Which makes for the perfect book!!!!

p.s: Love the quote, which runs along the lines of, " Nobody can be strong every minute of the day"

Nicholas Savron is a Russian prince tracking down the murderer of his cousin Andre (from This Fierce Splendor). He's received enough information to now that Dominic Delaney is in some way responsible and is having a hell of a time tracking him down. So he decides that Silver Delaney will help him whether she wants to or not. As soon as he sees the "firebird" he decides he must have her and decides to kidnap her. It's not clear to Nicholas even if he's keeping her because he wants to find Dominic or because he needs the time to seduce her into his bed. She gives him a run for his money either way. Silver is used to feeling rejected and unwanted and has her armor in place. She'll let Nicholas have her body, but no way will she be vulnerable to love, especially with a man who has made it clear he only wants her for her body.

Well, although Nicholas is a prince, he's certainly no prize. He's quite desperate to get Silver in his bed and doesn't really care that her mind is saying no...he's only listening to her body, which reads loud and clear that she's attracted to him. But it says something about his character that his best friend needs to extract a promise from him not to take Silver against her will. And the only reason he doesn't is because of that promise. Even with that, he most certainly doesn't care what Silver wants. And his way of wooing is so pathetic it makes me wonder...instead of trying to be charming or even likeable, he forces her to have dinner with some truly despicable guys so she can see how great he is in comparison. He wasn't the worst hero every, but I honestly did not like Nicholas and didn't really want him to have an HEA...fortunately, he doesn't really because this ends on something of a cliffy and their story continues in the next book. And this ending is less than satisfactory...no declarations of love and Nicholas never learns his lesson about keeping Silver prisoner.

Where this story really earned its stars was with Silver. Not to say she's super likeable or anything, but she's willing to call Nicholas out on his bullshit every time, so Nicholas's behavior almost seems like a caricature so that Silver can call attention to his misogyny and presumptuous arrogance. Not that any of her comments sink in or anything. Even his friend's comments about Silver, her true nature and his treatment of her go in one ear and out the other. I also like that she thwarted him and more or less tortured him with his own attitude every time. And in the end it was SHE who decided to have sex wit him. We shall see if the characters improve any in the second half of the narrative.

Rather enjoyed this story. It was well written and flowed nicely. Always love me a hot Russian. Just imagining his accent has my knees weak :)

I enjoyed Silver's strength and her ability to call Nicolas out on his BS. Nicolas is the typical BR hero though I did appreciate how in every love scene, he puts Silver's pleasure before his.

Enjoyable light read.

Would have liked a few more scenes between Nicholas and Silver to give their relationship added depth, but what we did get was satisfying and enjoyable, with the right amount of angst; looking forward to reading the sequel!
