You Should Have Been Here Last Week: Sharp Cuttings from a Garden Writer

A career spent traveling the world looking at gardens, and meeting their sometimes eccentric custodians, has resulted in a fund of unlikely experiences and encounters. There was, for example, that alligator-infested American garden, or the time our hero set up his tent in the woods at Great Dixter in a thunderstorm, only to find he was not where he thought he was. On a more serious note, the book contains some of Tim Richardson's most influential and provocative columns as well as articles and essays on specific gardens, places, and landscape themes.

Quite an entertaining selection of gardening articles.
Richardson seems to take a slightly childish enjoyment about being 'controversial' and causing what he thinks is a stir.
I do suspect no one really cares, but let him have what he clearly thinks is his fun.
What did amuse me what the incredible amount of name dropping throughout the essays.
If I had a £1 for every time I read the following words I'd be a rich woman.
Great Dixter
Sissinghurst
Margery Fish
Jekyll
Chatto.
It got to the stage that I was playing word bingo!

A collection of wonderful garden writings from one of my favorite contributors to the Idler magazine, known there as the Art Flaneur.
